I listened to this many times bcz there was something there different and i think I figured it out. In the A part, if you make it as if in the A1A2 form , she inverts it. Instead of A1A2A1A2-B she plays it like A2A1A1A2. a minor difference but really makes it sound unique.

none, the classicly trained crowd would call it a violin, but the session crowd like the Irish or bluegrass musicians would call it a fiddle

technically a proper fiddle has a slightly flatter bridge to make double (and even triple) stopping easier. but that is the only difference i have heard of

I'm not sure I approve of all this cross-tuning, but that was dern good:)

You can't get the same voice if it is 5ths tuned. You can play it, but to attempt the same exact arrangement the fingerings would be unnecessarily difficult, and the voicing would be different. That's not to say that cross tuning is inherently superior for fiddle music--merely that you can't replace cross tuning and get the same result.

Best fiddle rendition I've heard. Much better than my version and I've been playing probably twice as long as you have years! Many people try to play it in standard tuning which louses the whole thing up. Great work!
