The first miracle, the one which you make light of, was that the oil lasted for eight days. The most obvious and open miracle was the fact that a small band of warriors defeated the mighty greek army. Im sure that you think that the Jewish victory was imagined, yet Jews are here today and ancient greeks culture is GONE!
@planetmuman my point would be to read my previous comment again,by the way iam not an atheist iam just irreligious and yes jews defeated the imperialist greek forces of ptolemaic dynasty,afterall they had it coming through their behaviour,but not by a small band of people,the whole peole revolted and iam not against that, people have the right to live their lives as they want to,my problem is claiming that to be a miracle

dont know where you got the idea that americans dont learn about the civil war aspect...yes...helinized jews fought on the side of the syrian greeks
throughout history we see jews running to be accepted by the culture around them...so i dont see how teaching that jew fought jew during this period would cause jews to stop celebrating chanukah
