Even General McArthur said 1960, that there was no military necessity to drop the bombs. In 1945 Japan was no real threat anymore, they offered peace talks in July 45. There was no need to drop atomic bombs, especially after the Soviets declared war on Japan and invaded Manchuria. And by the way, I have a degree in history, too.

I consider myself a tough guy, I been through some serious rough times, from military training, sister hit by a car, loss of my father when I turned 18, living 2 states away from my home, working on a job that will take me even farther from home and didn't shed a tear, this video brought it back with a punch, I haven't cried like this since I was a kid...Great job

@lds4ever1 Sorry, but that ist nonsens. Japan was not threat to anyone in 1945. At the 9th of July the ambassador of Japan in Moscow wanted to start peace talks. Even General McArthur said 1960, that there was no military necessity to drop the bombs. The bombs were only dopped to prevent the Sowjet Union to declare war on Japan, because then the Sowjets would gain political influence in Asia after the war, like in Europe. Do some history research before you believe in myths.

@lds4ever1 Dear lord, this is so dumb, I hardly know what to say. First: the inventor of the atomic bomb was Oppenheimer (born in NY) and his team of scientists. Second: I´m sure Germany is glad to hear abourt your "argument", because England invented the concentration camps. The germans just used it. And perhaps we blame America for 9/11, because the Wrights invented the plane, the terrorists only used some of them.

Robert Oppenheimer was the scientific director of the Manhattan Project, everyone knows that! And it was you who wrote "if you have a problem with that take it up with the inventor ". @Rallerfeste No, Japan had taken over the Pacific, they had parts of China, Taiwan, and others. The US was the only country (they were in the Axis powers) that they feared. That is why the bombed P.H. - I am a history major

@edh12993 Again: I´m talking about 1945, not the start of the war (and even then...we can talk about the different peace agreements that Japan offered to the US in 1941 before the war, which were refused). In 1945 Japan was no real threat anymore, they offered peace talks in July 45. There was no need to drop atomic bombs, especially after the Soviets declared war on Japan and invaded Manchuria. And by the way, I have a degree in history, too.

In fact, they saw US as a threat. that is why they bombed us. If you think that japan is not a threat, go take a vacation to pearl harbor. signs that the japan bombed it are everywhere. there is a memorial for the Arizona out at sea, where you can actually see the ship.
