I have heard many versions of Asturias played but I find none more beautiful and sweeter sounding than el Maestros version. Perfect speed for the piece in my opinion. I've taken Segovia's method on in my own playing of not to rush or be a speed demon in my playing like so many others do when they play this piece. Simply wonderful :)
And the amazing thing is he still had 20 years to live after this. I saw him about 15 years later. Not at his peak to be sure, but would blow most anyone else away even then.
I have the feeling that these videos do no justice to Segovia´s sound. He sound much better on the black-and-white videos on YT. The tone here is tinty, brittle...not vibrant. Of course, he was getting old too. Still, it´s always nice to see Segovia do something.
That was so beautiful!!!

@RevolucionNr9 thats true. Rumours have it, he used the media by paying a lot of money for promotion, especially to MTV.

@paradox95,
Sir, you're obviously not smart enough to comprehend the masterful playing of Segovia.
Go away.

@paradox95 you are seriously an absoulute moron to believe that
MTV wasnt even launched until the early 80s as Segovia died in the mid 80s long after he had already carved his name in history so fuck off

@warrior30114 yeah it seems like segovia is the only one who doesnt play it as fast as possible
but that ruins the melody to me when they play it that fast
