Smith did have an argument for markets, but they were under conditions of perfect liberty, markets will lead to perfect equality. If we cut SS the same is true. I would agree that we should cut the defense budget. However, there are government services that are necessary, and they have to be paid for. When they are not paid for, we all lose. Business depends on infrastructure and schools. Rich don't pay=deficits

It is not about taking from the rich, it is about governmental services that exist, and make business possible. Military, courts, police, infrastructure, printed money, power, water, etc. All of those things have to be paid for. When they are not paid for, we run deficits. I am not worried about myself. I will be fine. The debt on the other hand, will not be.

Just because we choose to pursue (or can only find) gainful employment that requires "performing a few simple operations" does not define a person's "whole life," only a portion of the day, and not even every day of the week. We can choose to spend rest of our hours improving ourselves, or not. There's nothing wrong with being a worker, but no one is relegated to that position forever.

Coercive laws of competition force one to occupy increasingly specialized positions when entering the workforce, which produce an aforementioned psychological effect. As for what you can do to 'remedy that condition', the hidden hand of the market ensures that effort does not equate with success in the marketplace.
