Also, if you took 10 seconds from any performer in this competition and compared it to the end of this song she would win hands down. No one else can boast the tremendous vocal range that Rachel shows in the last word of this song alone. She reeks of pure talent.

Im not taking anything away from Melanie but America doesnt need another Whitney,Celine,Toni,Beyonce etc... We need another Etta,Aretha,Roberta,Gladys so we can remember what the hell music is all about.

The competition should have been over after she sang this song. What an unbelievable rendition of a classic. Etta's the best at this song because it is hers. No one makes a 'better' version of an original but you can say that someone else makes a more popular version. I like Ettas version.I would turn the radio off if I heard any of the whiny versions like Beyonce. However, I would not only spend money on Rachels version I would force my neighbors to hear it at the highest possible volume.
