  • Kecharitomene, Ancient Greek for "Full of Grace" past, present, and forever. Hail, full of Grace.

  • This music works like weed, it takes me fly to Istanbul

  • got here from pandora.com, who knew I liked folk music? :P

  • absolut magic, an for the uninformed she has traveld the world and applies her craft to all religious beliefs as far as I have heard ,and I wish her well and look forward to the next thing that she does ,forever fan

  • this is arabic music greek touch....

  • @Bozydon Actually, it seems more celtic.

  • beautiful, beautiful, beautiful

  • Excellent!

  • Those who disliked. I find the "_ accidentaly missed the like button, or __ were deaf" no. They were not deaf. They are just blind to beauty. Instead of shunning them we should pity them. And they have different taste in music. So just calm down.

  • thumbs up if you think the 7 dislikes were deaf

  • Theaaaaa!!!!

  • love this

  • Why do you people have to bring up religion here? Fuck...

That's why I think religion and music shouldn't be mixed. Isn't music supposed to be a universal language and way to bring people together?

I'm not Christian, used to be but will not be anymore and all I have to say is who cares who Mary bore? Just listen to the song dammit.

  • Life is full of obstacles, but music gives us a different understanding and allows us to simply pick up our heads and recognize with our hearts.

  • Perfect when playing Minecraft.

  • What follows is an revolutionary and bizzarre idea people can you handle it? Enjoy the song without dragging religion into it. Can you handle it?

  • Before i even read the comments i was moved to pray the Hail Mary...the Queen must like this music.

  • Fantastic !!!

  • I've searched high and low but never have I found a song in equal beauty and power to this one. I could meditate on it for days.

  • @Fishiums totally agree

  • @Fishiums Ditto. Thats the appeal to me personally. Its so powerful and evocative.

  • a beautiful song. =)

  • Loreena is the queen of music! ♥

  • ♥ ♥ ♥

  • pokemon^-^

  • Vraiment magnifique, cette chanson nous emporte dans un autre monde (qui est très beau) ! Bravo

  • I often play along with this with my violin, pretending to be with a group in some candlelit auditorium. It's magic.

  • Suggested videos: Lady Gaga Bad Romance... WTF!? Lady Gaga couldn't have an ounce of this womans talent.

  • @Gwuinivyre no no, lady gaga is talented but in a different type of music, i have seen her play with just a piano and her voice and she is brilliant, i am a loreena mckennitt fan and a gaga fan :)

  • @lonelyqueen86 LOL. I think I was being a little bit to harsh with my statement. I like Lady Gaga too... but I think I was just a bit confused why Bad Romance would be a suggested listening. I was like on a Mckennit song? Really? But Gaga is good. I should of just revised my statement a bit. ^_^

  • this gives me chills listening

  • my mom isn't much of a classical listener, but the moment she heard this she said she liked it. i said 'i know' :)

  • looks like 7 peoples made a missclick

  • Merci beaucoup pour Loreena; tout c'est superb.

  • i like what happens at 5:15

  • @AgileCow

    I like what happens at 0:00 - 6:37

  • @crapmunky99 i hate what happens at 6:37

  • I LOVE this song!!! Makes me think of my ancestors and stirs something up inside of me.

  • Wow, I listen to rap and hip hop for the most part but no matter what, I will never stop loving this music, it really strikes a chord with me..........

  • @Salokist its a pity ur still listening to that crap called rap n hip hop..

  • @Salokist same here. There's good music in all music genres.

  • @immortaltechpt Exactly!

  • HolyBalls that's gorgeous <3

I just found this by random lookings around. Thank god I did ^^

  • iLoreena makes me feel always the best felings : such as kindless and compassion ... is as she call for humanity to be as one we are all one .. no matter where I am but i just son of Adam and Eve ,just son of abraham ;;.. peace love and beauty ...

  • Would you say this is middle eastern or celtic? I'm torn.

  • I swear I could play this on loop and hear this the entire day

  • man i heard this song 10yrs later... i just realized i was dead the yrs i didnt hear it.. now im alive again

  • I love music like these. so much soul and life from the sounds.

  • Thank you Loreena, for reuniting me with my past lives. :)

  • @Magnovey bueatiful said... really just reminds me of my past....

  • here kecharitomene...

  • Her best song, unfortunately. The rest of her music is borderline dull and does not in any way reflect the measure of energy and activity that this song has.

  • @Fishiums Well, if you like this but not the rest of her stuff, I'd really recommend checking out the Final Fantasy XI Soundtrack by Naoshi Mizuta. It all sounds pretty much like this. Some good ones are Selbina, Rolanberry Fields, and Longfall. Also, from the rise of the zilart (or jilart no genei, if you get it titled in japanese) Kazham and Rabao are really good tracks. I'd recommend checking out the entire OST from all expansions, though it's like 150ish songs.

  • whoa, here where Grengson Williams found out Ibelin Song!

  • @AuroraOnVenice Haha yeah I noticed too :p at some parts is was pretty much identical xD

  • @zipperears88 Holy crap, you're right! I actually have the Kingdom of Heaven soundtrack and Ibelin is so similar to this!

  • @AngryKhan loreena mckennitt

  • I just love this song. I have alot of Loreena's music and play it all the time. However this is one song I don't have. She is an extremely talented and lovely lady. She has a beatiful voice. As a dancer I love dancing to her music. It is timeless and inspires one.

  • I'm not sure if we used the music in the right context or not, but we did a middle eastern dance to this music in class once and it was so hypnotic and get lost in the music

  • uperoxooo!!! h mageia tou tragoudiou fernei sto mualo eikones allhs epoxhs... oneirikhs!!! Teleio...!

  • Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. It just makes me feel so connected to something out there. Don't know how to describe it. :)

  • Wow.

Loreena's music never ceases to impress me.

Looks like I'll be needing to get this CD too! ;D

  • @crapmunky99 yes i my thoughts exactly .

  • Nice melody !

    Thank you for posting

  • neuregel no one said that loreena is orthodox or that the song has religious notions.. people just asked what kecharitomene means. misinterpretations are only made by u. PIECE (mr german?)

  • what is another song similar to this one?? please

  • Perfect.

  • This is truly some of the most graceful music to ever be spawned. It is perfect in every right, and is about as close as you could ever get to a flawless expression of music. Strong beat, perfect melody, heavy feeling and a building action that brings ecstasy to ones ears. I love it.

  • Ador aceasta melodie!!

I love this song!! It's DIVINE!! 6 stars out of 5!!

    J'aime cet chanson!

  • Maravillosa

  • Beautiful

  • Read Luke 1,28. Explanation of the word.

  • I also love metal and love Loreena.

  • Kecharitomeni (Kεχαριτωμένη) in Greek means something more than "full of grace".. and it not ancient, it is the religious (orthodox) expression to say "Maria". Τhere are many meanings in this word that combine the female perfection: blessed, the chosen one..my english is poor, maybe, to express a Greek`s feeling about this word..

  • @soukoulee Neither Loreena is orthodox, nor this song has any religious notions. After all it's instrumental !! For Loreena's sake!! What you're doing you orthodoxes is taking a beautiful song and misinterpret it to fit your beliefs. blah

  • @soukoulee γάματα "in Greek means something more than "full of grace".. and it not ancient" δηλαδή τα αρχαία δεν είναι Ελληνικά;

  • @soukoulee So, are yoou saying that this song is about the Blessed Virgin Mary?

  • @Morsarren Actually, yes. Mary is just another form of the goddess. :)

  • @RavenAudron100 Dude, you're retarded if you believe all that crap.

Please re-examine your religious beliefs. You might find a lot of holes that need filling.

  • @Morsarren I'm happy with being pagan, thanks very much.

  • @RavenAudron100 Okay, well, sorry. I hope life is good to you. thanks for the great music.

  • @Morsarren And the same to you. :)

  • @RavenAudron100 Thanks.

  • @RavenAudron100 I have a friend who's pagan as well. She considered herself to be an adherent of the druidic beliefs. Druid? stars above! a roman catholic and a druidic becoming friends in a japanese pre-meijin era history class! lol

  • @scaurus I was raised Catholic myself, till I discovered paganism. I kinda like the idea of having two parents up there. :P

I love the Japanese culture!!! :D

  • @RavenAudron100 same here

  • @soukoulee \m/

  • @soukoulee Well, kecharitomene is quite difficult to translate. Catholics say it means "full of grace", Protestants, "filled with grace". Even if Mary was "full of grace" it doesn't mean she could give it to anyone, as only God is the giver of grace. Mary was a sinful woman, she also needed grace for her sins to be forgiven by her Son...

  • @naukrarosek Saying that the Mother of God was a sinful woman is a blasphemy!!! Read the New Testament to see why Mary was chosen by God to give birth to Christ!!! And justifyu what you are writing here otherwise you show that you know nothing about the subject...

  • @venthesikimis Calm down, man, and read the Bible. Every human being, except Jesus, is a sinful being: Rom 3:10.19-20.22-24; Luke 1:47. 'Mother of God'? Come on, man, does God have a mother? Jesus is eternal Jahveh, so he who created not only you and me, but also Mary (Col 1:16-17). She bore Jesus' human nature, she didn't bear God. PS She was very religious and devoted, I admit, yet still sinful. God bless you.

  • @naukrarosek Well put. The Catholic doctrine stating that Mary was without sin is in direct contradiction to the actual teachings of the Bible.

  • @naukrarosek Fuck you.

  • this is my favorite of lorenna mc kennit melodies

  • I am an enormous fan of rock and metal, i refuse to listen to anything but. However, THIS is sexii music!

  • @RealistMetalhead1994

    same as i XD i LOVE Loreena~ <3

  • so beautiful.

  • Bella melodia Simplemente hermosa

  • gercekten güzel yapmis respekt !!!

  • @hakanerata Aye for real ,

    respect. :-)

  • When I listen to her music I like to close my eyes and dream. I,v imagined a whole story / movie around The Highway man.

  • I really have to give Loreena credit ,she started by sending out casette tape orders out at her kitchen table ,but her music is so awesome that she made it without a record label because her music was just THAT good

  • Honest opinion here: I love the music she makes. I adore it...but sometimes not her singing as much, it covers the instruments for me.

  • Loreenas music has influences in the music mostly Irish-Celtic but ties in mideastern ,English folk, medieval shes absolutely great I love this womans music

  • wondeful

  • Was rhis song in the movie Kingdom of Heaven? Specifically, I'm thinking when Bailin (Orlando Bloom) begins restoring his father's property.

  • Actually the first 35 seconds are in the Lord of the Rings too...lol

  • nop...you mean the rohan-theme?!but it sounds like that a bit you´re right...:D

  • @nappocasa No it's not. That song is Ibelin. Harry Gregson Williams composed it. It is an entirely different melody with similar instruments.

  • @F0reseer the melody is similar

  • what did poor sumerland have to say? (:D at least they like this music enough to be here talking about it. what does Luke 1:28 say again?

  • god... save my mind... i have never see this music before...

  • Ding ding ding!

Correct. From Luke 1:28, to be specific. Well done!

  • Yea...but how many of you know what Kecharitomene means?

  • It means, Full of grace :P

  • We greeks know for sure ^^

  • incredible song! must be use in a movie

  • Kismit NM

  • This music get's me realy :-) FANTASTIC....like a celtic sound

  • Niko1aich you are wrong mate, kecharitomene is ancient greek and it means full of grace :)

  • Actually it eamns fullof grace for females only

  • wow i´d like dance to it.

    szeretem Loreena

  • yes i would like to dance to this

  • Wow! This one moves me every time! Can't help moving to it like a bellydancer! Ha ha! And that's a sight of me no one has seen...I'd be in trouble if they did! But yeah...Loreena's music DOES have a strong effect on one. You either need to move to it or feel something deep to it. Evocative drumming, sensuous sound...love it!

  • There are no words powerful enough to describe the magnificent beauty of Loreena's works. Through her songs, we can dive into the paintings of our history and through her words and glamours we can relive eras that have long since passed humankind by.

  • Just beautiful!! Loreena's music let us fly into the unknown era!

  • right .. very empowering music !

  • I love this song!

  • love!!!

  • awesome.

  • nagyon jó zene..:D kikapcsol..:D amazing!:)

  • Kecharitomene means "Full of Grace" Luke 1:28

  • I love the fiddle solo near the end of the song, and how it builds off of a simple melody line into a full, intense transient song.

  • Da quando l'ho scoperta è la mia artista preferita. La ricerca che c'è dietro ogni suo pezzo è tangibile, il risultato raffinatissimo. Spero che pubblichi presto un nuovo album. Fiorella

  • she's the best !

  • 5 ***** again

  • Thanks for this nice vidéo and music

  • Middle eastern sound; Gaelic music. Who knew?

  • They do have quite a similar sound, similar scales really. A very traditional sound.

  • I love the music and I love the title.

    Kecharitomene. Kecharitomene.

    Keh-char-it-oh-men-ay.

    Full of grace. kecharitomene.

    <3

  • Neat. What language is that?

  • Comment removed

  • It 's ancient Greek

  • For me shes this eras Mozart. It takes great imagination and talent to wright and perform such memorable and beautifull music. Long after most pop music is forgotten the music of Ms. MacKennent will still be listened to buy future generations and cherished.

  • Beautiful. Its history in music.

  • What instrument was being used at the incredible solo at around 5:15 or so? I really like it, and I am relatively sure it is neither a viola or a violin.

  • Ya its just a fiddle, well played indeed.

  • Oh man...what tune....this puts you in one of those trances..wow what music..

  • loreena mckennitt is not a musician, she's a magician...or she's both ;)

    this song is beyond words...

  • @breizhtea yes, she is my inspiration

  • 5:13 wow...

  • do you hear the portal opening... ::)) pure magic , love the music

  • Love this one too

  • This is a great song!

  • nice!!

  • I'm sorry ... I actually commented on the false video of Loreena.

  • I would have liked to only listen to this ottoman Music. But at some point you have to say something when people talk about things in the internet too unfair or simply say things that are not right.
