Wouldn't one solution for china be to invest that surplus of dollars in new US production industry. That way they would get out of the dollar slowly while keeping the value of the dollar from dropping too much meanwhile. The US will have to start producing soon anyways and this way they would have their money in real capital in the US. Heck, they would practically own the US by doing that LOL.
That will never happen. If you understand the idea of comparative advantage, then you will see that US industry cannot compete with cheap chinese labor who work for cents on the hour. Nor does China want US industry to compete with their labor. That is their comparative advantage. No, they want us to keep buying from them and for us to keep pouring capital and capital goods into their economy, not the opposite, which is what you are proposing.
@buzongtang You're not seeing the big picture here, living standards and thereby production prices in china are going up, and sooner or later other countries will have to start producing cheaper stuff themselves to meet the demand but still the price will be higher than buying from china today so consumtion must decline. Investing in US production would indeed loose the chinese money but the question I'm asking is would they loose more by just dumping their dollar reserves crashing the economy?

So what theyd be doing is 1: giving americans jobs at a quite big loss. 2: Getting out of the dollar cheeply by doing so. and 3: demending more for their exports and thereby getting back a bit of the loss from giving amercans jobs.

@buzongtang You're not seeing the big picture here, living standards and thereby production prices in china are going up, and sooner or later other countries will have to start producing cheaper stuff themselves to meet the demand but still the price will be higher than buying from china today so consumtion must decline. Investing in US production would indeed loose the chinese money but the question I'm asking is would they loose more by just dumping their dollar reserves crashing the economy?

So what theyd be doing is 1: giving americans jobs at a quite big loss. 2: Getting out of the dollar cheeply by doing so. and 3: demending more for their exports and thereby getting back a bit of the loss from giving amercans jobs.

As a nation grows and becomes more wealthy they tend to become a little more peaceful. Look at America our genocides went from a few million Indians to now a few hundred thousand Iraqi's, none of which is good but at least were killing less people now days. I hope as China grows economically they will become more peaceful and treat their citizens better. But China is moving in the right direction at least.

really? I've been in Tibet in 2002 and my friend went there again in 2007. I've travel from Lhasa all the west to Ali region. We travel together with Tibet people for 1 month. We stayed in local Tibet people's home. within the days, we never found any hell but a lot of friendly Tibet people.

Have you face the fact that China has reduce the poor by a lot. Majority of the people are getting better live in the past 30 years. I don't think China is a perfect country but compare to US, it improved a lot. On the other hand, US is going to the wrong way.

The criticize from the western countries should be an energy for her. I hope that it is a positive energy. Otherwise, it means that the western countries is blocking 1.3 billion (1/6 of the world) population's hope for rejoining the world.

In Tibet, it was still a slave society 50 years ago. After the world war II, the new Chinese government kick out slaver-master (who ran away to India and western countries because of this) and give slavemaster land to the poor people and release all the slaves.
Same, go their and talk to the local people to compare the life in the past 30 years.

I don't think so. At least from the point of living and education. You can compare. You think it was better because Tibet was a "closed" region. No boy knows or care what happen there in the past. In these 50 years, China is becoming open and open. More people know China and Tibet and care about her now. It leads to figuring out a lot of problem. However, situation is improving year over year.
