Anton Lavey probably did nothing different then a lot of people do by writing a book and calling their philosophy a "religion" . I remember a friend of mine in high school had the Satanic Bible. Anton Lavey seems like a pretty smart guy. But he's just an author. I like how you see clips of Marylin Manson associated with LaVey. I hope it helped him sell records and bolster his image. Wow! There is a lot of confusion posted in these comments. Other than fellowship and brotherhood, why do Satanists need a religion to do whatever they want. That's the idea, right? Lavey even states that most of the ceremonies were taken from older Pagan religions and beliefs. So, is the forming of a religion just a justification for doing what you want with no thought to the outcome?
