  • The fight certainly wasn't a casual matter.

  • One of my favorite scenes in a pretty great fucking show.

  • Hmmm. Maybe Clay Morrow needs to watch his back.

  • If Utter's got corns that might could a set if off

  • "Pertinent fuckin' business!"

  • @yerk3 I believe Charlie said "Personal" business.

  • Hey Look.....the cocksucker stepped on his toe.....so he had it comin

  • "Should I exhale out my ass?"

  • Don't think you'll ever see a Series as good as this for a while, I watched the whole set and loved it

  • "And I doubt you've fought many men, maybe even ONE!"

    *Commence ass kicking*

  • OK press 5 if you agree: I think at any time Wolcott could have drawn his knife and cut Charlie Utter good. Sure Charlie may have killed him anyway, but I think deep, down Francis wanted that beating to appease some sick guilt. He had SOME remorse...even though he was a sick peice o shit.

  • Epic ass kickin

  • Charlie Utter far from a hero. He was a bad man by the standard of the time. For instance when he walked in on a murder he turned around and walked away.

The only consistently good character was Sol Star. He had values and he stuck to them; and he wasn't judgmental of other peoples lifestyles. If anyone of the characters could be called a hero it's Sol Star

  • @Bronco46tube Not really that was hurst men who were going to kill Al no matter what. He knew who his allies was. He was a good honorable man. I agree though Sol Star was consistently good all around. The most in the show.

  • @Bronco46tube The real Charlie Utter could hardly be called a bad man, especially by the standards of those times. The only two times he was ever convicted of breaking the law was selling liquor without a license, then of maintaining a nuisance dance hall. After 1880, he basically vanished until the early 1900s when according to his biographer he turned up in Panama where owned two drugstores and was at that point, blind.

On the show I dont recall him walking in on a murder then walking away

  • @curlyeye Charley walked into the Gem right after Dan and Al had killed two men with knives; he turned and walked out. It was in the episode I'm not the fine man you take me for. He walked in while Al was still holding the man he had killed. Charley nearly said "I'll be back after I've et (ate).

  • Charlie is excellent in this scene and on the show.

Garrett Dillahunt is excellent as well. What a compliment that the producers had him play two completely different characters on the show.

  • That was pretty much a one sided fight

  • Even though the way they portrayed Charlie Utter was apparently not that historically accurate, it was awesome to see their version of him - some guy really uncomfortable in town who knows all about the wilderness down to the different tribes and their fighting rituals - kick the ass of some big-business geologist who might have known a lot about economics, but not enough about deadwood.

  • who knows which episode of deadwood is this on?

  • @leminem26 season 2 episode 7

  • Dayton Callie,,,,marry me :)

  • Was anyone else impressed by how well Charlie Utter moves? He lumbers around all three seasons, and we finally see him take it out an chop it up.

  • pussified shootin instrument,,lol I loved this series

  • i like how tolliver, the closest thing to an ally that wolcott has in camp, completely ignores him.

  • I have a feeling the writers had a lot of experience with being bullied after seeing this scene and hearing Bullock give a few monologues on the subject.

  • yep, old charlie certainly had a way with words.

  • lol "pussified shooting instrument". i was so happy when utter beat the hell out of francis, i hated the character, the actor who played him did a great job. i hope they give this series an ending even though i know they never will.

  • Shall I exhale out my ass? Hahahahaha

  • Charlie Utter was fabulous! And another fantastic fight scene in the best series on HBO!

  • this was one of the best scenes to me, so funny

  • The best scene of all in the series.

  • funny how both the jack and francis characters ended up in the mud.

  • @AvEryBadApPLe They both hung in the end too

  • I love this scene. Deadwood insults are the best! Love Charlie as well. He and Joanie are cute together imo...

  • I love Utter. But the Doc is also one hell of a guy!

  • Everytime Charlie Utter is on screen you just want to hug him. He's the loveliest guy in Deadwood.

  • Charlie Utter.... LEGEND

  • Gotta love Charlie. Here's a man who took no shit from anyone (apart from Jane, but that's another story) and always did right by the people he cared for. If that meant handing a cunt like Wolcott his ass, so be it.

  • Couldn't of happened to a nicer guy

  • ....some pussified shooting instrument. haha. charlie utters the man

  • Charlie Utter was maybe the only true "hero" on Deadwood.Everyone else had,at least, some shades of grey.

  • what about bullock? charlie's just the deputy but bullock's the sheriff and originally repulsed by swearengen upon their first meeting.

  • @juliomelvin I'd include Whitney Ellsworth as being a true "hero" along with Charlie Utter.

  • @curlyeye Wild Bill could be considered a hero as well, despite all the bodies on him, the good could always feel safe with him. Funny fate saw two of them killed before their time, like in real life (Martin Luther King, Ghandhi, etc).

  • @juliomelvin Hells yeah, he was loyal, had principles, never fucked with anyone who didn't deserve it. Then again, Cy and Al were business men.

  • @juliomelvin What about Doc Cochrane?

  • @freethis222 Doc was suffering from PTSD. He was in no condition to be heroic

  • @hobbie4 Well, I didn't mean it like a super-star-hero-kinda-thing. But if I'm not much mistaken he has very few "beefs" with anyone that come out of bad intentions. He only wants what's best for people.

  • pussified shootin instrument

  • the best line delivered on the show.

  • You are a fuckin cunt!

  • Cocksucker stepped on my toe

  • make a charlie utter tribute video

  • suck a dick wolf, lol this is Goo

  • Hell yes!

Charlie Utter is the bee's knees!

  • 'pussyfied shootin instrument' ROFL LMAO.

  • fucking forget Shakespeare for the moment (respect) this is poetry of a different sort

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • Believe it or not. I'm actually related to Charlie Utter. I just got done watching the first two episodes of Deadwood (Due to me being so young when they were still producing it) And my mom had said "You know we're related to him." I was so excited!

  • Good guy to be related to. Charlie was pretty badass in real life too from what I gather.

I wonder if Jack McCall's descendents make a habit of mentioning their relationship to him in the same way...?

  • Well with all the prostitues he slept with, there are probably many decendants of him. :P

  • yes, and i'm calamity jane and mr. wu's bastard asian child.

  • @citizenlen Calamity Jane is a Lesbian. I really am related to Utter.

  • should I exhale out my ass? ahahahhahahahahahah

  • I can't find any from the last season. I love when he gets in Hearsts face.

  • i got so excited when i saw this scene i kicked my fuckin dog, hadda buy that fucker to boxes of doggy treats to make up for it

  • Charlie Utter, what a great man, so many great scenes in this movie, unforgettable.
