  • Afterburner works.

  • That is shocking ,and the engines are real ,they are in the right place... this is just the design of the aircraft!

  • Get that exhaust temp up!

  • The trouble was that the engine has leaking seals and was allowed to sit in very cold weather.

As the engine started it produced heat, expanding the outer races even more, and even greater head space.

The solution is to cut off fuel to the engine and allow it to spool down, engine controls finally did this.

And, look carefully, the engine is clearly mounted under and just forward of the wing.

This was a vary minor problem, a restart would be permitted.

  • @Arabhacks but don't you have to close the engine fuel AND ignition switch...

do a "blow out", wait a couple of minutes and do a restart again..

  • @Arabhacks holy shit, it must have leaked a lot of seals. poor things

  • The engine isn't where it's supposed to be..... It's too far forward. It's supposed to be under the wings, and attached to the wings, not the body

  • When did they install afterburners on passenger jets?

  • Sorry but that engine doesnt even look like its fitted to the plane, it's too far forwards isn't it ?? it's meant to be under the wing not in front of it or am I being thick ?

  • @dontsqueezethecheese *facepalm*

  • @FixedNewsChannel porquoi ??

  • The wings are full of fuel! How is this allowed to happen? And with passengers on board! They must have been shitting themselves! I would have asked to get off incase it happened in the air!

  • another cameraman would stop filming at 0:12 XP

  • i wonder what the people were thinking ;\

  • Pretty nice seat warmer feels like the real thing

  • Perfectly normal.

It's called a "green engine". What it means is that the engine has just been sent from the factory and installed on an aircraft. The manufacturer heavily packs the engine with grease and sealants as it may sit for months before installation. The first start burns most of this out and creates quite the show.

  • FIRED UP!!!!

  • did the plane taxied or it just shut the engines down?

  • holy shit, are there passengers in there?? I would have fallen into a coma...

  • Thank God I was wearing my brown pants!

  • how does that not burn the wing?

  • On second thought I think I will get off the plane and stay in town, I like this town.

  • Ladies and gentlemen welcome to Rocket Airlines!

  • fuck now i gotta change my pants!!!

  • lol first time engine start up,thats oils that they put in the lines to preserve them and prevent moisture in them

  • marshmallows anyone?

  • lol. Only in Norway. :P

  • since when did they start putting after burners on commercial airlines???

  • just the remaining oil in a new engine that is burning up

  • I bet they could feel the sub harmonics when it was throwing out those really low bass type sounds.

  • someone is in deep shit for destroing the turbine blades...

  • And here I thought the Concorde was the only commercial airliner to have afterburners. lol.

  • if I was on that plane watching that from the window, BRICKS would be shat

  • Okay.. I've seen enough!!! Get me the fuck off this plane.... NOW!!!!

  • @psygn0sis We can do without the potty mouth, thank you very much.

  • haha its like a giant match and a aerosol can

  • No Chuck Norris was not there!

I used to work for Braathens before It went Bankrupped. I know some of the people working on the evening shift that day they filmed this.

Or maybe he was the guy in the plane trying to start it.

    Greetings PJ

  • @pilotjonny Do you, perhaps, mean 'bankrupt'?

  • @Peter78730 Yes, sorry for my English, I have a picture of a simular happening i daylight, not so much flames but a lot of smoke. Its the same people but now they work for SAS.

  • This is happening alot in norway...

Cuz they can't see the different in fuel and water

  • No wonder my steak was dry...

  • the reason its doing that is because its a new engine and it takes a min for the fuel and air and oil to set. thats why it does that.

  • the reason its doing that is because its a new engine and it takes a min for the fuel and air and oil to set. thats why it does that.

  • C'mon doc., we're gonna need more power then that to get back to 1985!

  • The Pilot . . . was Chuck Norris, this was just a normal engine start

  • @XxDan627xX no Chuck Norris wanted to smoke a cigarett, that was his lighter

  • @SuckMyMassiveKnob i think its a hot start, synthetic oil is not flammable.

  • OH FUCK NO GET ME OFF THIS BITCH!!!

  • F-16 engine on a 737? hahaha

  • Noways always did want to make their commercial airliners go supersonic...

  • @gangstahero1770 no need for afterburners to go supersonic :)

  • >.> please tell me that plane was empty....

  • V-Tec just kicked in.

  • @Dradoc yo

  • Thats that god damn Shell super unleaded i bet..

  • no its the ricer flame kit nothing to worry

  • Please fasten your seat belts and NO SMOKING... LOL

  • that fire get so high i wudda ppl on dat plane prob pee up dey self

  • @MrJoemaster10 lol, your bad english made me laugh :D

  • wowo i can cook my friend with that

  • It was nothing really just the overiding thermal activating cumdorian tripout switch had jammed and once the flange sprocket tripped in, it cleared. Easy 'aye?

  • Hmmm...I didn't know these jets had afterburner....

  • steaks are done! :D

  • @CA1CWilliams Lmfao i'n eating a ribeye right now and a cheesy potatoe that made my day xD

  • @CA1CWilliams More like wings are done...that gives new meaning to HOT WINGS...LOL...

  • This is called torching, its completely normal. Cause by left over fuel in the combustor when the engine was shut down on arrival.

  • I'm pretty sure it was the after burner.

  • what the hell!! Why is that happening and what did they do about it? the plane wasnt allowed takeoff right? cause that feels not safe..also i heard fuel is stored in the wings..and there was fire on the wing lol, however, anyone knows? why and what was the consecuenses of this..scary shit!

  • @ajlisknillat Nothign was done,it did take off, it was perfectly safe, fuel in wing needed thawing, consequences are repainting the wing.

  • @ajlisknillat Nothing was done,it did take off, it was perfectly safe, fuel in wing needed thawing, consequences are repainting the wing.

  • Pilot: Okay, let's fire that engine up.

    Co-pilot: Roger.

Pilot: That was a figure of speech.

Co-pilot: Right! Right, I knew that.

  • This is a typical when installing a new engine. The smoke and flames is nothing more than preservative burning off. A hot start would be clearly indicated in the cockpit and crew will shut down. I have been working aircraft maintenance for 24 years.

  • this is called hot start in pilot language

  • @NOG1997 not really. If it was a hot start they would have shut off the starter as soon as EGT would have been flying . A few seconds at most from start lever being moved to idle.

  • wow....

    how does this happen?

shouldnt have the wing burst in flames by now??

  • B-737 with an afterburner:)

  • @rrynek genius!

  • It's a 737, Boeing makes thier planes better than that.

  • @Randomness84726 not a Boeing engine tho ;)

  • @bajesus666 oh ok, lol

  • wow the single point nozzle hook up for fueling is right where that flame is, jet fuel and fire don't mix

  • This is normal for this engine to throw out flames like this after being installed onto the wing. The normla procedure is to motor the engine witht just the starter to try to blow out and residual preservatives left in the engine case after the enging was shipped from the overhaul facility. The flames that you see in this video are the residual preservative (in this case alot) burning off as it exits through the burner section and out through the turbine.

  • @Angelsword74 I don't think this was residual preservatives blowing out during the first start after being installed on the wings. I do believe every airline would at least test the engine before allowing passengers to board the aircraft. This plane was clearly loaded.

  • passenger:hey captain theres flamecoming out of the engine

pilot:wtf everybody get out of the bus.... wtf ehh of the plane

    all passenger:ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

  • Probs is the engine new and has some dirt overthere, that will just flame away, no worries :)

  • good gas milage

  • Toasty

  • Bloody hell.

  • Haha! Jeg satt på det flyet! :D I was sitting on this plane! =D

  • Purrs like a kitten

  • It's the oil and sealants burning off after getting fixed up. The captain probably told the passengers in advance it was going to happen over the intercom.

  • @TechnologyGod you can hear the engine shutting down or either the apu shutting down

  • @TechnologyGod After you fiix an engine you would run the engine on the ground, and you would burn said sealants on the engine run.....

  • i would've been crapping my pants if i was one of those passengers looking out the window!!

  • That's normal. It just had repairs

  • This is how those engines lose their virginity... nothing special about it... ;P

  • This is failure!

  • can somebody explain how this can happen? was it the pilot's mistake?

  • @FhjNelson It was started after repair, thats normal, it was burning leftover grease

  • @FhjNelson nope completely normal after repairs nothing to be worried about

  • lol to much gas = tourching the tailpipe nothing that will hurt it just spactacular to watch

  • It's a normal engine start-up after maintenance. It looks pretty amazing, but it's nothing special in aviation.

  • fake ?

  • Damn the pilot must have been testing the afterburners and clearly the work. Jk that sucks

  • It's normal, new engine with many oil!

  • @titolevis Yup, long live new, lubricated parts.

  • @BarneySaysHi You know mate! ;))))

  • looks like his flux copasitor over heated......

  • @Corpral1992 *capacitor*

  • I suspect the dump valve failed.

  • Better to see this on the flightline rather than at 35K feet! Spooky sight considering the wing right above the flames has about 10,000 pounds of Jet fuel in it.

  • That should save some de-icing fluid....

  • lol just cause 2

  • bring your frozen beef, we're gonna have a BBQ for dinner tonight

  • How it can happen?

  • TURBO BOOSTED BITCHES!!

  • @JamesBlitz HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

  • The engine was just replaced by a pulse jet engine (a jam jar). It's fine. :D

  • wow

  • AFTER BURNERS!!!

  • wet start...someone pumped the throttle before startup

  • lol @ the flame heating up the wing where the fuel usually goes

  • EPIC!

  • Ok fuck it honey.....we are driving from now on !!! 4 R3AL !!

  • VTEC just kicked in, yo

  • Im an Aircraft Mechanic. I work on jet engines. A fire like that would melt the turbine blades so fast ist not funny. Even if its excess fuel. They just smoked an engine.

  • oh sweet they turbocharged it

  • EPIC FAIL

  • ITS A JET!

  • This is normal for a new engine start up. Thats the preserving oil burning off. harmless.

  • It's backfiring because there must of been a lot of dirt in the blade and filter.

  • Damn, that is one big flamethrower.

  • that's not a hot start...it's burning out the "pickle juice" on it's initial start up after an engine swap. The engine is brand new and is burning out the preservation oil (hence "pickle juice"). It's harmless.

  • i didnt even know that a plane can have a turbo boost and nitro

  • @17377584: It's a "turbine" Same premise

  • @XTZTwinTurbo i was just making a joke dude

  • who fed this airplane beans?

  • It sounds like a pulse jet engine for a little bit there.

  • this is normal, it happens the first time you start a brand new engine. the fire is the preservative oil inside burning away :))

  • marshmelows

  • Somebody get maintenance in here. Someone is getting fired for this shit! LOL

  • @germanchocolate1982 no.... there reviving the engine, it had a flameout, and when you restart it it does that

  • Ok. Thanks for the info.

  • the engine is having a fart ;D

  • Braathens! Synd dem ikke flyr lenger! :/

  • Looks really scary.

  • Yeah, it's the preservative oil inside the engine burning off... That would look cool during take, wait, that would be scarry!!

  • Thats normal when starting an engine for the first time.

  • affirm :)

  • @blackdog0301 and sometimes after a major overhaul

  • Hes pretending he has after burners like a concord. :)

  • ? over 10% n2?

  • gosh is it even safe to fly?

  • Mommy? There is a flame coming out of the engine.

Don't worry, it's just all this new technology these days.....

  • @guynamedoliver these are the last words people probably said in many plane crash over the year

  • @guynamedoliver Wow, I didn't think I would get so many thumbs up lol

  • Hot dogs or marshmallows anyone ? ;-)

  • me xD

  • @daredd5 hamburgers!

  • @tigermki Sorry I omitted the Beef lovers :-)

  • @daredd5 yea pass me a hot dog please XD

  • Comment removed

  • @daredd5

Yes, I would like some marshmallows please!

  • @Charyl78 On the end of a very long stick!

  • This can also happen if the fuel is lit before the turbine is up to the proper RPM. High bypass turbofans produce more flame at start up also because it is harder to get that large diameter fan spun up.

  • OOOOOOOOOOOOOO PRETTY LIGHT

  • Tailpipe fire, or new engine burining preservative oil. either way, very common. It would have been alot less impressive during the day. you can hardly see the flame in the day rinning a new engine.

  • @jhawk117

Dude that is not common at all. A fire that big indicates a serious problem. No jet engine will ever out out flame like that unless it had a catastrofic failure. I work in the aviation industry. I know what Isay.

  • I've heard if the engine is spooled up to high that in the engine will "spit" fire & is normal just another reason of pilot error (or show off) at least thats what some older frontier workers have told me (pre 1990's)

  • Nothing like it, new engine or too heavy a load.

  • @Black0Panther no man...jhawk17 is correct..

  • You are not the author of this video.

  • all that is is the left over oil geting burned off coz it is a new motor

  • If I saw that I'd be thinking "NO F-ING WAY AM I FLYING ON THIS PLANE!!"

  • Drag racing baby! Get off 'em brakes!

  • pimp my turbofan!

  • Lolz!

  • hot start
