  • I never really timed it but I set the pot up the night before and I would guess about 6 minutes, I put it on medium flame and when it starts to perk I lower the flame so it doesn't spill over and let it perk for about 5 or 6 minutes and I must say it is delicious and hot. I don't mind washing the pot after, it doesn't take long.

  • Smell it, I said SMELL IT !!

  • @majicflute9 LOL!

  • I love the way coffee smells. But I don't like the way it tastes. When I was very little. We would go to the grocers and the coffee would be in the same isle as cookies. To this day, when I smell coffee, I think of Oreo cookies

  • Everyone old enough remembers the popping purcolator

  • these classic commercials are definitely the best! check out our channel and get some maxwell house coupons for yourself :]

  • In case anyone's wondering, the jingle was written by Eric Siday, who also did sound logos for Screen Gems (the 1965 "S from Hell," for closing logo aficionados) and CBS in Color. I'm pretty sure he did it using a Moog synthesizer. I know he was one of Bob Moog's first customers.

  • Is there anybody know when did the commercial published?

  • @raultiantian: I remember watching this commercial. it's probably about 1964 (give or take 2 years).

  • @megasept Thanks~~

  • I have been looking for a nice vintage perculator for months, hopefully I will come across one soon. =D

  • @melzaelf Why ? You know it's one of the worst method for making coffee. The water goes over the ground again and again bringing out all the bitter taste.

  • I perk coffee every day in a 1950's pyrex glass pot. It makes excellent coffee. I also have an old electric pot that I use for company, again excellent coffee.

  • @JORDANWASAGEM Just curious, how long does it take to brew about 4 cups of coffee in the pyrex pot?

  • Nobody perks coffee anymore because drip or press methods produce better tasting coffee.

  • Does any one use an electric or stove top perculator any more?

  • This is a classic among classic commercials.

  • I love the music w/this ad. Do you have any idea what it is? Was it just a studio band creating music for the ad?

Nothing beats the smell of coffee and watching it perk up to that little glass bubble.

  • @6motion6: the music is a "jingle" created for the commercial. it is so good i recognize it after 45 years.
