  • I wanna see alterbridge do some mayfield four and citizen swing. that'd be awesome!

  • Lord, the solo. He couldn't only be a wonderful singer, he has to be a wonderful guitar player !

  • Today's Myles Was Totally influenced by MARK TREMONTI!!!!!! HAHA!!!!!

  • @iannyrockwell LOL you'r fucking right.. this myles is a funky guy and now a rockstar xD

    I like both lol

  • who was there that made him nervous?

and cant believe he used to play guitar like that!

    wow

  • Comment removed

  • It would have been nice if they told him of the prophecy that he would be one of the greatest singers in the world of one of the greatest bands in the world back in the day...

  • bahahaha!!! Oh the crimped hair...oh the cheesy backing music... Still fuckin AMAZING though!!!! (but some things have changed for the better I must say :P)

  • fuckin' nice!

  • Alex skolnick at 4:32 !!

  • Stop comparing whos better. Myles has said in an interview he doesn't understand why people need to relate music to sport; in response to someone asking him when will we see a guitar duel from himself and mark.

Also, if their styles were any different to what they are, alter bridge would be too.

IMO myles is a much better musician anyway. A true front man, and the most modest guy in the world.

  • This is amazing! Imagine if Myles Kennedy and Mark Tremonti were in a band... Oh wait. They are.

  • he looked like a pirate

  • hahahaha thats really funny....

  • lol 5:04 'look for myles in the new Metallica video' -no, look for him in the new Slash video! :D

  • haha priceless. not going to lie gotta love the 90's and music. but look at myles now

  • HE'S FUCKING YOOOUUUNG HERE!!!!!

  • it'd be cool if he tours with this yellow strat with AB

  • what a thug

  • Wow. I knew he was a great singer but I had no idea he could play like THAT. Damn.

  • DUDE! his pants! lol

  • @somewayout Mark never said that! He said that Myles is a way better improviser than he is. When it comes down to the technical stuff, Myles has not a thing on Mark. They are both very extreme guitarist in different fields, that is why Myles doesn't play as many fast licks in AB, but that's where Mark shines.

  • @jseifert07 copied and pasted from a 2009 interview with Mark:

"Notwithstanding the fact that Myles plays guitar and Scott didn’t. Were you particularly looking for a singer who played?

No, absolutely not. When I called Myles I had no idea he could play the guitar like he does. I’m telling you honestly, I think he’s a much better guitar player than I am."

in black and white. he did say that.

  • @wwedivaxx And that is true, later in the interview he also said they both bring something to the table as far as style goes. He based that off of vibrato, not technique. And it meets together perfectly. Its like Hendrix with Stevie Ray Vaughn. You can't distinguish who is better because of the different styles that they play.

  • thanks for ur sharing...this is a very precious video!

  • i was very very very shock and amazingly inspired..i cant compare how he plays in his band(AB).. very humble.. long live ALTER BRIDGE!

  • HOLY SHIT! i have no other words

  • lol he was so cute........man i was born on 1992 how old is this guy??? XD

  • @13Y12 41

  • @13Y12 he is 41 but still epic as fuck !!!!

  • good guitarist but no way as good as tremonti....its all about tone and content...tremonit has the tone of Gods...

  • sings flat at 2:00

  • Holy jesus!!

I knew he was a very talented guitar player, but I had no idea just how good he was until now.

One word comes to mind: WOW!!

  • scott play piano

  • @somewayout Mark said that more than once.

  • most people think myles just plays back up for mark and isn't a great guitar player. well they are defenetally wrong because myles proves in this video that he could play like that from just coming out of community college.

  • Myles is amazing!\../

  • @somewayout Shoot. The Blackbird solo was all about emotion, not chops dude. ;)

  • he was awesome, he is awesome and will forever be awesome!

    totally inspiring!

  • @somewayout i think what sets them apart is tha tremonti does very typical rock things, but he does them exceptionally, and Myles does Jazz influenced things, as you ca tell from listening to the Blackbird solo and the solo to Isolation too. myles is a lot more methodical than Mark as well, he looks very carefully at the chords and structures before attemptig anything, whereas Mark just rips

  • @6693 Not sure how you don't have more thumbs up! Lol.

  • Has to be 92. The 5150 amp wasn't released in 90.

  • myles always says in interviews how much he attests this video

  • If I had half of Myle's guitar skill, and a quarter his singing ability, I could quit my day job and do music the rest of my life.

  • He's awesome...but this is realy retro, in an era where grunge and hard rock was already present

  • Whoa! He played Fender before? Awesome!

  • @somewayout they compliment each other well in terms of playing me thinks :)

his solo in blackbird is amazing to get the notes perfectly sounded as that is hard

  • this is a call to the people that have some Mayfield Four material.. I mean live videos.. If you can't put it in digital format, why you just don't do the same thing that this guy did?

put it on the tv and just recorded with a camera.

    PLEASE! :)

I've always heard that there's lot of people with this material.. but c'mon don't be selfish.. ;)

  • Man, he is not just playing or singing, he is doing both, and perfectly...

Myles is a very very talented musician... keep rocking man !

  • @somewayout I believe that Myles is right on the line with Mark on guitar playing. Both are truly amazing, it's just that they have different styles. Mark has that great Hard rock, fast guitar playing and Myles has that more mellow, slower kind of playing that fits in perfectly with their songs. Both of them fit perfectly with each other, missing piece to eacch others puzzle

  • @somewayout Dude, his blackbird solo is already incredible! Just because it isn't fast or very technical doesn't mean it isn't as good as it could've been. He did exactly what he was trying to do with it. He put the emotion into the solo which is the goal of a guitarist.

  • @somewayout can you give me a link to the article? I'd love to read it.

  • GEEZ! Is there anything he can't do? Well, actually he told me he can't dance, but that's probably a LIE!!!

  • Holy Frick'n Molley!!!!

Why Is Myles Blessed with an amazing voice, and awesome guitar playing skills!?!?!?!

  • @ryanevans00: And he looks great too! Until today. I saw him live with Slash in Amsterdam's Paradiso and couldn't hardly believe he's 40. Almost 41 now. I believe he has a healthy mind too.....that's why perhaps????

  • @MrsSlumdog Yea i was shocked when i saw he was 40!

  • @ryanevans00: Shocked? Seriously? Eventually everyone gets older with some luck and in good health. Myles is almost 41. Nothing wrong with that.

  • @MrsSlumdog I don't mean it in a bad way, he just looks alot younger

  • @ryanevans00: I think we have a misunderstanding. :) Of course he looks young and cute at that age and now he still looks younger than he is. I saw it close enough with my own eyes. And believe me, it's not that bad to be that age. It's how a person handles it. That's all and that's what I meant to say. :)

  • @MrsSlumdog no dobut. and he takes fantastic care of himself, too. when you see him on stage he's got bottles of water on the drum platform that he drinks. he's said he eats a lot of of veggies and mostly fish for protein. not a heavy drinker (he's said he'll have a few every now and then for an occasion, but doesn't go out regularly), doesn't smoke, no drugs, he exercises. he lives a very healthy lifestyle and it shows. good for him! he does look fantastic.

  • @wwedivaxx: Saw him very close by and what you say make all sense to me. It shows off and I was yet sure he's like that. I love his positivity too. I've noticed some "tough rockers" calling him "Mr Goodie Two Shoes". Well.....some people cannot handle a positive, strong attitude.

    Thanks for your reply. :)

  • FIRST, there is nothing amazing about that playing in the video. Maybe he does better elsewhere(love his voice though). But as a guitar player who is probably a little better than Mark myself--dont underestimate marks feel for the right notes on solo's. Its something like Jimmy page has...its this innate ability to know exactly what notes will move the listener. It doesnt have to be fast or hard...it just makes you move.

  • @somewayout That's exactly what i was always thinking. He doesn't use all his guitar abilities so that Mark can shine..This is really kind of him ..

  • @somewayout dont worry he is letting loose on ABIII!!!!!!!!!!

  • soooooo goood omg

  • OMG! the solo is best of solo of alter bridge he is amazing! myles rock!!

  • If u like this video and can't stop to listen to Myles please join his army on twitter! @MylesArmy please follow!

  • Who does he say is there? Tool? But it sounds like the ladies says back to him: "Joel's here??"

  • holly crap.... that was myles?? he is good!!

  • Oh my gosh. He's so adorable...

AND HOLY CRAP. He's more amazing than I thought...

  • @somewayout Hey i was wondering if you knew which interview Mark tremonti said that about MK bc i would like to see that interview

  • @AlterBridge81 ultimate - guitar . com (take the spaces out, of course). search for mark tremonti interviews and it's in the one from November 2009.

  • @wwedivaxx Thanks, I was looking for that!

  • @somewayout I totally agree except for what you said about his solo on "Blackbird." That's one of his best. More emotional than anything else he's ever done.

  • @somewayout I haven't seen it, but I guess Myles does a section on Tremonti's instructional video. If you're looking for more Myles guitar work, that may be the place.

  • Ahaha! that's more i like it ... at a very young age, he could a one whole band alone ... such a monster and a very, very great man he is ...

  • ya see, this is why i love alter bridge. you got the amazing genius that that is Mark Tremonti as lead guitarist, and you dont realize how awesome myles is on the guitar himself until you see stuff like this there arent many lead singers who can play guitar like this with a voice to match these days. he also writes the deepest most stunning lyrics.... ps. look how young he is :D

  • the album Deep Down by Citizen Swing on my channel !

  • This guy really suits all styles haha! Allthough it's a big step to Alter Bridge!

  • HOLY FUCK!

  • FUckkkkkkkkkkk Im Blownnn Awaayy By His Talentttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And Also I Never Thought He Shredded Like That!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ...He's one of the reasons i study jazz style.

  • Myles in the hood, brah....hahaha

    Talented motherf*cker...

  • great singing/guitaring by myles as always I wish some-one would make a mp3 of this

  • Such a talented guy-its good he's finally getting the respect he deserves solely for his creativity and talent.

Myles rules-if the situation had been right he could have ran a Soundgarden or Alice In Chains back in the early 90s-although fusion was his bag then.

Myles is a gem in the rock music scene-no doubt!

  • BLESS look at him how young is he!! lol! 92...i was 2 or 3!!!

i think someone invested in some man straightners by the look of that hair...i love how into it he is! hes dancing away...look how much fun he's having!

  • i wasnt even born xD

  • lol...i had come into the world but i wouldnt have even known who he was...my mum was drumming wetwetwet into me...love is all around me...no no no not on here :P lol

  • Fuckin A...

  • Comment removed

  • This is the most amazing thing i have seen in a long time.

  • @somewayout

I just don't understand why Myles hasn't recorded any flippin' sweet solos since "Cure Me With The Groove"...

    HE IS SO DANG GOOD!!!

Oh and check out our EP too.

  • @edenregained he's doing a solo album now actually should be out soon

  • oh god......he looks like a girl in this video!!! XD

    sorry Myles love you =D

  • ye i read that article and judging by this myles would certainly be at tremontis level

  • myles is one talented dude! Great song writer, guitarist and vocalist......Ive seen him twice with Alter Bridge.

  • lol he is, I was just reading an interview and he mentioned this, saying that it changed his life by getting him on stage, but he wishes it wasn't online lol.

  • This is a Citizen Swing song. He must have joined them right after or before this.

  • WTF!

  • stapp doesn't even play guitar!

  • Actually Sherlock he does, just not that well. Learn to spot sarcasm Captain Obvious!

  • @Brink0War erm he does actually

  • @Brink0War Yeah, he does. xD

  • @Brink0War yea he does... im sorry to disappoint...

  • @Brink0War I Teepeed his house and wrote "ABIII" in his yard in shaving cream! not really, but I'd like to... I live close to him

  • @thejasond i know haha so do i

  • @thejasond ah well, you could drop a thank-you-for-the-awesome-music note in his letterbox, too... hell, if you don't mind i'd love to write you one :P

  • @Brink0War He does actually... just not as well as Myles.

  • mark tremonti has openly stated that he thinks myles is a better guitar player than him.

  • He was being humble as usual. They are both fantastic!

  • tremonti's very good, but myles IS better. well, at least I like him more. but that shows how humble myles is, letting tremonti be the main guitarist.

  • You got to be kidding me...I mean...not because Miles can play a skilled solo that it makes him better than Tremonti...Come on...Listen to all the songs Mark has written and playied..all the different technics applied to beautifull melodies...from "higher/one last breath" to "In loving memory" and so many others...it's not a matter of opinion or taste but guitar knowlegde...

  • Yeah, it's a matter of guitar knowledge, and it's almost pretty obvious that Myles knows more. He plays jazzy kinda stuff, has better tone, doesn't always play fast (Mark does, even if it's a slow song), has better taste in selecting the notes And plays cleaner. Mark's great, writes awesome riffs, and I loved his solo in Find the Real, but many people would tell ya Myles is better. I hate comparing guitarists n' saying someone's better, but at least we can say Myles isn't far from Mark's level

  • Yeah bro and myles has better guiatr knowledge... check out his Mayfield Four songs.

  • wow he looked like a moffat back then but great guitar player

  • damn im lovin the pants hahaha!

    hes awsome lol

  • Myles is the most humble guitar player I have ever met...he has so much talent!

If you get a moment, check out our new EP on our channel page!

    --Eden Regained

  • I did not know he could play like that. I know Mark said he was good, but he realy showed that he could shred a little bit.

  • myles is definetely better than mark.

  • I'll have what you're taking.....

  • OMG i didn't know Myles was so technical in guitar. I knew he had and amazing voice and was good but damm....

  • callate aleko xd ajaajajajaajjaj

  • Cool vid. The Peavey 5150 behind him suggests that this is from at least 1991; which was their first year of production. FYI ;)

  • It was 1992. I was there.

  • O_O !!!

  • Pick in the mouth at 3:30

    Nice

  • Haha. I will never get bored of this video :D

  • What song is Myles performing here?

  • "You See It" from Myles days with Citizen Swing from the album Cure Me With the Groove. The studio version is posted .

  • Thanks I'm gonna look it up.

  • never said he was better said they both had good qualities myles can do things mark can't do. and mark can do things myles can't do, i just said don't compare them.

  • not sure I'd say that they do things the other "can't" do. both are very skilled guitarists. I think it's more accurate to say that Myles excels at some things more than Mark and Mark excels at some things more than Myles. they complement each other extremely well and is a large part of what makes alter bridge such a phenomenal band. check out this vid v=z_DAPhOy2Fk at 2:19 (mark and myles dual lead/solo whatever you wanna call it) then at 3:02 it pick up and they show a close of myles playing.

  • i wouldn't say he's better than tremonti, but i do like him more. but i think it's really nice and humble that he gives mark the single guitar role in alter bridge. this guy's a sick singer as well

  • All I can say is OMG!!!!! I don't think I have laughed this hard in awhile! He sounds like Billy Ocean--I keep waiting for him to break out with "Get out of my dreams, get into my car"!!! I still love my Myles though and he rocks my socks off now!

  • It's pretty obvious that Myles here shows he's much better than Mark technique wise and phrasing wise. Nothing against Mark of course.

  • I don't know if I'd say Myles has better technique now, but I'd say he did then. He seemed to lose interest in shredding of any kind between the two Citizen Swing CDs.

Also, it's not a stretch to think Myles had some input on some of the AB solos, he is a theory god, and that always helps.

  • what makes you think that he doesn't have as good technique and phrasing now as he did then? when does he really ever show it? he doesn't. he willingly takes a backseat to Mark. he throws out a solo every now and then, but nothing like this, so there really is no basis to say he isn't as good now.

  • just face it, Myles put together more than half of the solos in AB face it Myles is better at making solo's mark is better at making riff's. Their both great guitar players with their own good qualities. so please don't compare the two. Also for the people who know nothing about funk guitar, or guitar in general what he is playing here is extremely difficult to do, i know i play some funk guitar, he is playing on the fly.

  • Myles only wrote the first solo in Blackbird in Alter Bridge. I wouldn't say Myles is a better player then Mark

  • oh my god

  • dude, myles is an awesome singer! he has such a huge range...idk about this video though, lol..

  • dude remember this was nearly 20 years ago

  • in 1992 there is no alterbridge right

  • Is that myles kennedy in 1992 ?

    lol he looks funny haha....

You know in 1992 i was born date of birth

  • No, he's not gay, and his wife is way hot. If he were, however, I'm sure there'd be some happy gay boys around.

  • I wasn't attacking his personality to you two people who gave thumbs down, but he clearly said at 0:22 that some guy was hot. I was just wondering

  • he didn't say hot, he said high

  • oh wow, I feel retarded..........

  • This must have been some kind of inside joke. Joel is Joel Tipke, I think, who was in Bittersweet with Myles.

  • Bradbssargdons. YOUR A TOOL. i've been playing for over 20 years. I know what and how things are being played. Myles is the better player period.

  • i don't care who is doing what in this band. if you asked them both to play a solo for a song Myles would write the better sounding more technical solo.............that's what he did befor AB..So don't be a fuckin dumb ass Brad. if you play guitar your terrible because you don't know what your talking about.

  • So, the Cosmic Dust CD was horseshit? The second Citizen Swing CD? The Mayfield Four for fucks sake? All sucked? No accounting for taste I guess.

BTW, I knew Myles when he was a local musician, and I'm actually IN this video, so..research? No. No need.

  • you fail. that is not a fact. that's your opinion, which many, including myself disagree with. the stuff Myles wrote and performed with the Mayfield Four was just awesome. I have both their Epic (as in the label) releases and love them both. I'm anxiously awaiting his solo side project he's working on while the other guys are doing the creed reunion.

  • bandwagon? you'd be funny if you weren't so ridiculous. I've been a fan of Myles and his guitar playing. watching his lesson on Mark's DVD is the reason I decided to pick up guitar myself. sorry if I don't live my life on youtube to see and respond to your laughable comments. Myles is absolutely on Mark's level. sorry to burst your bubble.

  • no...bandwagon, as in, using the phrase "YOU FAIL." Good job misreading my last message!

I'll argue til the day I die, Myles is NOWHERE NEAR MARKS LEVEL and I dont see how anyone could come anywhere close to that conclusion....

Myles cant even PHYSCIALLY play as good as mark. Musical talent aside, he cant PHYSICALLY play the type of things thaT Mark can play in his sleep.

  • Yeah sure Myles sucks hahaha... guess what happens if Mark's gear cuts off? xD

    /watch?v=I5yZLSCT8DY

  • Tremonti is a great riff writing and rythem player. Myles is a better lead player. Is technique was better back in the video than it is now.

  • you must be the dumbest person in the entire world. either that or you dont know the difference between lead and rhythm. actually, myles only plays rythm guitar on a couple songs and NEVER plays lead. the only exception is the first half of the blackbird solo. thats the ONLY time myles plays any lead whatsoever. the rest of the time mark plays lead and rhythm both by himself

  • And you're wrong again. Myles plays rhythm on all the songs from "Blackbird", every single one, live AND in the studio. Also, because he only plays one lead, are you assuming he *can't*?? He taught guitar for 10+ years, you know, he was the "go to" guy in town for players that had outgrown everyone else (besides Joe Brasch). This is sad. You are arguing from a position of ignorance. Gain knowledge.

  • Also, Myles played lead on "Damage Done" as well, that sick harmonized solo, that both of them.

  • wow i didn't know that, could you tell me where did you read that. (i'm not saying your wrong)

  • My god he looks way different from fifteen years ago. That man can not only sing like nobody's business, but he can shred like a god. Myles in the hood ladies and gentleman. :P
