  • those pictures you took are not the ones you posted up. why did you not post the actual pictures taken with the phone ?

  • everyday im shuffling..

  • where did you get that couch? love it

  • @juliannexrose funky sofa google it.

  • I use camera+ to set the exposure.

  • You have a nice mic

  • Loving the Fro <3

  • Focal Length of iPhone 4S is 4.3mm (x8.2 crop factor, 35mm in 35mm format equiv.) compare to iPhone 4's 3.85mm (x7.64 crop factor, 30mm in 35mm equiv.). And yeah, I agree with you on the natural tripod ;)

  • You can tap and hold to make it AE lock (lock the exposure) Just tap and hold until the focus reticle starts bouncing and you will see the words appear at the bottom of the screen. Once you have it locked you can recompose and focus on something else without it changing.

Thumbs up so Jared sees this.

  • sample photo from iPhone 4s please :')

  • Great tips!

I love the little green couch :D

  • natural tripod = 3rd leg

  • love the pillows!

  • great tips man!!! never thought of holding iphone that way for pictures!!

  • iPhone 4 Steve

  • mmm i think that's the pose you use to show the chicks you huge GUNS hahahhaha

  • Where is this shot?

  • Ha ha, you're a natural tripod Jared! Good stuff.

  • doesn't the justin bieber smell make the image worse?

  • Great video. You're pushing me towards an iPhone! I'm amazed at the iPhone 4s and I don't even have one. Been Android all along. Anyway, I was reading all of the comments just to see what rude comment this Zach guy wrote, and was pleased to see it was removed due to all of the "dislikes". Keep up the great work fro!

  • if you hold it that way how are you supposed to see what you are shooting?

  • jared you have to do a siri review in your style man !!! cant wait for it!! please make it please!!!

  • "iPhone" sounds better than iphone or Iphone =)

  • Did you just refer to Megapixels as 'quality' ????

  • keep up the excellent work dude!

  • i don't even have an iphone... i'ma still use this information...AND whats more.... i'm a press like... just to rub it in the faces of those who pressed dislike...

  • i love the couch!!

  • I don't get why so many dislikes on your videos lately either, is Ken on a mission?

  • Going to try out your grip technique tomorrow. I have been thinking on a better way to hold it, never did think of that, cheers. I'm with you on the HDR too, cannot stomach it. I've been guilty of doing a little tester here and there with the dslr, but rarely liked the results, no matter what program I used to merge the exposures.

keep up the good work fro ;)

  • jared did you move?

  • Great tip...never thought of that.

  • You technonoob idiot. Just use the volume button. When you master this, use it as your main camera. It will be al you need.

  • @Voxnulla he just said that in the clip, did you even watch it fully?

  • Thank you for the grip tip. It really helped me improve the stability issue I had.

  • "Natural tripod" ;)

  • hey whats the crop factor of the sensor in a phone?

  • whoaa echooo

  • Lol, I thought you were meaning something else when you said a natural tripod. ;)

  • last amazing iPhone.. later iPhone's just won't be the same without steve jobs' magic touch

  • Jared you should check out the "Throwable Ball Panoramic Camera" on YouTube. It's pretty cool :)

  • Fuck you

  • fuck apple

  • get the Camera+ app. You can control two points, one for exposure and one for focus. Much better app than the standard Camera app.

  • Jared said, "You're better off cropping later."

Ladies & gentlemen, we'll never hear that again.

  • and possibly a larger sensor.

  • The volume buttons on the headphones also act as a sort of remote shutter

  • My tip for better images is to get slr kit for iphone and 24-70mm f 2.8 lens quite expensive but good quality

  • @mikolv21 If your going to be carrying SLR lens for your phone, why wouldnt you just pack a body too

  • Hey J, for someone who is not an HDR fan you did demonstrate very nicely just what it's benefits are, compared to your other two shots!!!

  • iPhone 4 had a 28mm equivalent focal range. I've measured when writing my Streetmate app for iPhone :)

  • Talking about exposure, Samsung Galaxy S/S2 have better camera control than iPhone.

It let you to control exposure composition, so no worries about focusing on something bright.

Well, I don't want bring up Android vs iOS here.

HDR feature in iPhone is great though, I wish my galaxy s have that one.

In term of quality, iPhone's camera and Galaxy s's camera is nearly same.

(if I am not mistaken, they made in same factory)

  • I just got my 4S today and have been playing with it. I'm thinking of getting the Owle Bubo rig to play with new lenses and give me a better grip with less shake. Any thoughts on the Owle?

  • Great tip for taking pics, thanks, I'll spread the video! :D

  • echooooo

  • Re focal length, there's an Ars Technica article that says both the 3GS and 4 had a 3.85mm lens, with sensors 1/4" and 1/3.2" respectively, which yields an equivalent focal length of 35mm & 28mm.

  • touch and hold for AE/AF lock. Much better. :)

  • hahahahaha please don't tell me I'm the only immature one and misunderstood the natural tripod line for a second there? :P

  • @jackdanielmills Ha ha I noticed it too... I found you comment when I searched for "tripod", I was wondering if anyone else was paying attention! I guess you, me and Jared can hang out and call ourselves the nonopod.

  • @Hynee Oh yeah, no-homo on that last comment, just realised it sounded pretty ghey.

  • is this video shot with the j1\v1 ??

  • @bassmanTV no d3s but i hit vivid picture control and that maxed the sharpness which is a no good.

  • Remember guys, any "tutorial" YouTube page has to cater to all skill levels. I mean we're all here to do the same thing: To be better photographers

(some of us just had a late start)

  • cant wait for iphone 6 or 7 with battery that can run for 3-4days like a non-smartphone cellphone

  • Thanks for this, I'm only using my iPhone for now cause my camera got stolen.

  • Nice video, but I am quite sure most people who have used the iPhone camera enough would probably know this. I use the iPod touch 4th Gen as a super mobile camera and it is very slim, so i personally grip the left side with my left hand (where the camera lens is) and I support the other side with my other hand then take the picture, if you see what I mean. Great video. :)

  • Is this the funky couch you ended up buying! Where is this?

  • @All0ut its one of them the rest are on their way.

  • Plug in the Apple earphones and the volume up button on them works as a shutter release as well.

  • the cheating system thing is very useful

  • @4:07, was that a penis joke, or is my mind in the gutter?

  • @IABoomerTube I think a bit of both. I like that he throws in subtle jokes every now and then.

  • Sweet couch!

  • You guys need to relax, my goodness.

  • You rock Jared!

  • Can't wait to get the 4s! Thanks Jared

  • Great video, But the echo is just annoying.

  • @TheWizard854 when there is more stuff in there it will take care of that, its a big place so it is what it is for now.

  • @JaredPolin I know, Did you move out of your old place?

  • @JaredPolin A tip for ya... If you do not "scream" while talking (I mean, you do actually use a close mic) you will get a lot less of the echoing. =)

  • @henrikhansson1 I project, but the place is large and echos no matter what you do. When i get more stuff in there and some carpet it should echo less.

  • thanks for the sweet tip

  • @zach99mhc ha, relax I dont understand your comment. Just because you don't find this video informative doesnt mean someone else will correct? It is Friday night, its the weekend, most people don't put up any videos all weekend let alone a few a week.

  • @JaredPolin seriously man don't listen to that zach99mhc... he obviously has to project his anger and frustration on someone else.

  • #autocorrect!

  • *sensor

  • 8 MP of what though? With such a small image sender?

  • first
