  • I could just listen to you for hours. Thanks for the great voice.

  • Great tut, really made warping make a lot more sense to me. Cheers.

  • this is really fucking useful. good vid

  • Hi got a question for you I made a Mixed CD I recorded In Serato and when I play it in iTunes its all one track!! My question is how do I make it CD like? So I can move from track to track and also I made a mistake on a mix how do I fix that? Also how do I fix sound? Sorry mate I know thats alot of questions but PLEASE PLEASE help me.

  • @Alex03000351 Hi you would need to use a program that can insert CD track markers although not sure how that works for playing in iTunes as I don't use it but used to do that for burning them. If you made a mistake then just redo that bit and edit it in the exisiting mix. Depends on what the issue is with the sound.

  • That shift trick just put everything back on track!!!

  • oh and wtf did they change the warping procedure is there any benefits to the new way???

  • thankyou for your video

thinking bout getting 8 got the money for it and all but herd that warping is real hard so am holding off...

will use your video and others like it to help me decide if its worth the transition or jsut stick to 7

  • niiiiice just the information i was looking for

  • u r the man! warping for me has never been the same!!!! thxxxx sooo much!

  • hi, strange to hear that as usually Ive never had issues with popping. Have you tried using different modes for the warp algo?

  • great vid! im having still issues with my time warping tho, the problem is every time i set markers, the track starts to pop near where there marker ws added. im adding markers to the beggining of each beat wave so i dont know wht to do now... id appreciate some help pls

  • Great stuff!!

  • great vid, love the shift trick

  • Nice vid. Thanks.

  • great tutorial, now i can enjoy 8, shift away!!!

  • great vid man, but have you had any cpu problems runnin L8... what requirements are there to run it smoothly?

  • @kilotron1 I actually do have issues with it and there are times it drives me a little crazy, if it wasnt so useful I might have given up on it.

I experience problems with looping in arrange mode and stuttering. I also have issues with sessions that get up to 1.4gb of memory even though I have 3gb installed.

  • Great Vid! Medway Studios rock :)

  • Excellent vid - I'm a Live 7 now 8 user and found this very informative and easy to follow. Keep the videos coming!

  • @clrightful Hi glad you enjoyed it, im currently putting together a full course for Ableton Live this week, will announce it here when it's completed.

  • Why do u change the tempo?

  • @Freestyla115 Hi you change the tempo if the clip to match it to the actual tempo of the audio file. I think there is a point where I changed the tempo of the session just to reset it back to normal as I had changed it previously while doing another warp.

  • I love that you ate trying to help but you are not saying what you are doing half the time. You are clicking and dragging and saying "just lockbot in" or something. Also, you are warping a track you know the tempo of. What of you don't? Not very helpful. Just some constructive crit.

  • i go through all the warping procedure regardless of whether or not I know the tempo. not sure what you mean about 'lockbot'. sorry you couldnt get anything from this but I feel its pretty well explained.

  • great tutorial about the new, nowere documented, warp features in live 8..thanks

  • Just what i needed, live7 was soo much easier to warp. Now i understand live 8 a little more

  • Good tip on setting up the beginning marker of a full track, then click & dragging the BMP tempo value box, while watching the points in the track. So long as the track BPM is consistent thruout the entire song, this will help tiddy up tempo very quickly.

  • hey thx again for makin this video..

  • great stuff medway! keep up the good work!!

  • this has made warping whole tracks so much easier for me, youre going to save me so much time by showing me this. Thank you again.

  • thank you!

  • Hey,

what is the point of warping tracks usually? Is it only just to keep tracks tight with the bars/match tempo?

Seems like live matches the tempo, is warping just to get things exact? Or are there some cool sampling tricks that professional samplers like daft punk or somebody would use warping for?

Thanks, just starting to get into sampling

  • nice dude! i didn't like the new warp feature either, and I started to work around it. but you vid cleared some things up...good show!

  • Just bought Live 8 suite tried to use this new horrible warp tool and had a melt down I can't believe they would change the most important part of this program so drastically. I hate it. but your tutorial saved me thank you!

  • Thanks for taking the time to do the video. The shift trick is golden...

  • a pain y they do it so much more difficult i like the new look tho

  • kinda worry of the new warping style have to see how it is when i upgrade

  • Hi, you mention that ctrl-drag function which is cool! And you briefly say "when the track dosent have many problems", can you do a video of the problems you/we come up against, like when the whole track is out and you cant seem to get it in time? That would be geat!

  • omg they must be f****n crazy ;-(

  • Uhmm... Why are you chaning the tempo? In Live7 I only moved 1.1.1 to the correct spot, then moved 2 or 3 markers along the track to line it up and made the to warp markers. That's the way I wish it had been in Live8 too.. Very discouraged with Live 8 so far, but thanks for the vid, this helps

  • Most of the time you don't need to change the tempo as 8 will detect it but sometimes you do. It's actually pretty quick in 8, I can warp a track in seconds as long as there aren't any issues with it.

  • Sweet vid, Tnx indeed.

Can I just fire a snip back at cha?

Fire up ye ol pref's with ctrl & ,

In the look n' feel tab there's the perm scrub area on/off switch. when that chumps in full effect, shift & left click drag in the lower waveform is needed to zoom as per prior. when it's offski, then defecto zoomo is back, albeit in the lower stereo waveform image without any funky key combo. not too sure about mono though.

    Nice one everyone, Ta ta

  • the new warpinmg is so fucking slow , i h8 it

    nice tutorial tho

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for the comments, will have another video up this friday.

  • Dude I can't tell you how much of a fan I am!

This was... man... just thank you!

    K

  • Hello,

    nice Tutorial.

    But i don't like the warping. :o(

I think in Ableton 7 it is better ,

if you want to mixed (manual) tracks together.

    Greetz - Decade ;o)

  • I agree it's not that great at first but I think once we get used to it will be ok. For warping full tracks though 7 was so fast.

  • Very helpful. Thanks so much.

  • Big help thanks, I am new to ableton. I brought 8 after using the 7 demo but really struggled with this. If you can do something on a different type of track, indie or something that is way out of time that would be great. Thanks again!

  • if I get time I will. Mainly it will involve using a lot more markers but Ill see if I can get some time to do one.

  • I've actually got a little mix project now that includes some fairly live sounding latin tracks which are more difficult than the usual 4/4 house stuff. So I'll do a vid to show how I'm tackling those.
