  • Great effort...nice and slow so that people like me can get an idea and learn...cheers

  • sounds a little tinny, i do it a little different, actually the more i listen, i am not digging it at all. thats just me.

  • I want to see SREPRO's video. How difficult is it to say hey man I'm a studio musician with better chops when you can't see them? He'll never do it and doesn't even get the whole idea of what Jdarks is doing. This has nothing to do with impressing other people. Funny stuff.

  • Very nice! :-)

  • I don't know if anyone has mentioned, the intro/groove presented here combines some of Jerry's part (the B major chord) with Bobby's part (the octaves). I like doing that, too. But folks who are interested should know Jerry didn't play the octaves part, and Bobby didn't play the big B chord.

  • Thank a million Jdarks, lifesaver. theres so little on these dudes guitar playing available. I would love if you could do piece on weir voicings. Very complex and misunderstood. THanks

  • whats he doing from 0:24-0:28 ? i cant seem to figure that out

  • He is playing octaves - you can do it like this although he moves the last 2, up a string set in this... first try playing it just on one string to get the sound, and then the other string is the same note.. mute the rest or play the notes that sound good if you can figure that out!

    7-6-x-8-x-x

    x-7-9-x-x

    x-9-11-x-x

    x-11-13-x-x

    x-12-14-x-x

  • its G.D. HOUR NICE

  • Thanks JD. It looks like you are just alternating between B min pent, and B maj Pent on the first two parts. is that right?

    Thanks, Love the videos.

  • thanks, sometimes it's really hard for me to hear the guitars in their shows, for some reason this one in particular. And everybody visit his website, it's top notch fantastic.

  • Great post helps with learning this song by ear.

  • JDarks keep ripping it!

  • SREPRO-you are a TOOL....... JDarks keep rocking on man. You're always on point.

  • i'm amazed by how i play this completley diffrent from you but they both sound good. the dead lives on!

  • paradise divine melody

  • Another great video! Thanks JDarks

  • is there any chance of you explaining some finger positions for this video? I can't make some of it out...

  • You guys all sound like tools. Just enjoy the video. Play on, JDarks, I majorly dug your interpretation of Scarlet. Oh and kudos on that lead break, it was sick.

  • whoever is below me is the biggest fucking poser

  • righteous bro, what kinda of guitar are you jamming apoun

  • sick!

  • That comment was a response to SREPRO. I posted it under his comment, but for some reason it went to the top of the page.

  • I did, 2 months ago.

  • nice work man keep it up!

  • thanks!

  • your guitar looks like it has really smooth action

  • Yea he has too much free time when your the one commenting stupid comments on youtube while he is figuring out insanely amazing songs on his sweet acoustic guitar. Pretty sure hell get farther in life then you will.

  • you are obviously a major tool with no playing ability. I am a studio musician in LA so i doubt this guy is farther along than I. I see nothing wrong with wanting to put yourself on youtube...i was just expecting to maybe learn or hear something worth while as i love the dead.

  • Yeah, but there is one problem. He is posting videos for beginners, for the most part. Look, I am a very experienced Grateful Dead guitarist, and yes, I find his videos rudimentary. But he is not POSTING them for guys like us. And you pissing all over his good work is not only rude, it's tiresome. Tell you what, slick. Why don't you post some of your virtuoso studio playing, and I will create some videos of me playing and post them. At least JDarks is offering something to people here.

  • lol Well I can't be annoyed after a funny response like that. Good stuff. And hey, at least you get a girl's consent before urinating on her. The thing to remember about JDarks, is that he is NOT tailoring his instruction for the more advanced players in the deadhead community. I look forward to checking out some of your video's. I am going to get my lazy ass moving soon and put up some instructional videoas as well. I might go with making them for advanced Dead players.

    GREAT JOB, JDarks!

  • SREPRO, no one needs your douchebaggery. In my limited experience, "studio muscian in LA" means a guy who works retail. I'm sure you're better than me, and I can see that JDarks is. You have a problem with FREE GUITAR LESSONS? And you think there's such a thing as TOO MUCH FREE TIME? It's retroactive abortion for you, my friend.

  • hey man your angry. i feel sorry for you. i wrote one line"too much free time"and people get up in arms. Maybe you guys should go practice instead of wasting your energy on this and making me waste mine in return. I can appreciate your passionate response...however I think you should re channel your focus into something positive. PS no retail for me....im actually writing this from the beach. enjoy

  • Dude, go away. I'll handle it for you from this end if it helps. Next time one of those chicks makes a request, aim it up instead and be useful.

  • @SREPRO >>> I think that everyone that plays the GD tunes is helping keep the music alive. JDarks is a great player and does an excellent job on this Video!

  • enjoy your work. really helps get me to the next level. these licks are so good its a worthwhile venture to get them out to the world. thanks again.

  • u just flippd the bird at us

    xD

  • :) Very good! your strings seem slacker than usual?

  • keep on keeping on!-jodi

  • I loved how you added real Grateful Dead music at the end as if there were credits rolling by.

  • hows it done?? cant see your other hand..

    sweet sounds though

  • it was sheer inspiration .touched jerry, touched you,and yeah, ive felt it.what can usy?

  • jdarks(dot)com

  • Source for tab please!! Great job. thanks u jerry! :) :(

  • You are pretty good. Love this song. RIP jerry.

  • thats sick man.

    whered you get those tabs

  • Man, heroin addicts write the best songs. Great job!

  • dude, that is freakin sweet. if you've tabbed it, or if anyone else has it, please share!

  • This makes me realize how difficult it must have been to write this song

  • took me years to realize the begining phrases of this song were actually notes bouncing around between multiple instruments which sounded like one guitar to me. seems you were free stylin' a little there at the end. awesome skills:)

  • oh man. The dead were known for that. The guitars blend with the bass and keyboardsand then mickey and bill blendin it all together. The music never stops it just keeps on changing...

  • Man, its so nice of you to help guys like us out...that wanna learn all this shit!! I love you man!! Haha!! But seriously...Thank you!

  • YOU ARE TREWLY AMAZING RIP:JERRY GARCIA

    PEace and love!

  • Thanks again!

  • Dude, that was awsome, Do you think you could post tabs of it?

  • Great jam! Scarlet is probably my favorite Dead tune and loved listening to your jam of it.

  • Awesome. I don't supposed you have those tabbed out or know where they are online?

  • Respect, peace and love.

    Thumbsup!

  • good job

  • That's some good stuff.

  • I was really turned on by the chordal licks in 3/18's and 3/19/78's "Cats Under the Stars," but I didn't get much from your tabs of it. Can you video that? Also I mean the chordal stuff after he sings "Cats down under the staaarrrrrssss," not the single note leads. The chordal stuff is emotional, lyrical, melodic, and satisfying.
