Ah, yes, spoken so well. I too long for the depth and excellence in our historical hymns. Maybe we'll hear them again in Heaven...or maybe the Lord will have a "new song" for us that's even better. Meanwhile, I miss them terribly.
... it is all beautifully composed and artistic in being put together, howver the god of the "seventh heaven" is not the God of whom this song was written about but what the muslims call god, Allah.
This song was originally written for the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob ...
@mnhzmazingrace I think Divine Love loves us all equally and infinitely. It does not matter so much what we call Divine Love but that we love Her/Him and each other. This song is full of Divine Love that speaks the universal language of the heart. My Muslim sisters and brothers who call Divine Love Allah are as precious in the sight of Divine Love as those of us who call ourselves Christian, or who walk any other spiritual path. All good paths lead us home.
@chrisinblackpool You're so right! Where are they now- people who composed from their deep love for Jesus, from their personal relationship with Him, from their deep knowledge of God's Word? Today's contemporary songs are so subjective and shallow. Like you, I miss the great hymns of the faith. Our Lord richly bless you, my friend in Christ.
@jonparreno If you've never heard of him I recommend Rich Mullins. He wrote "Awesome God" and "Sing Your Praise to the Lord" He was the best since Keith Green. I'm Happy He's with the the Lord now, but I sure miss being able to see him in concert. He could make an audience cry faster than anyone! Lol, sniff.
BTW my personal favorite is still "The Maker of Noses"
These people are several generations past. , They left for us a wonderful spiritual legacy which was ignored for the last 30-40 yrs. Glad to hear them being rediscovered.
It is the second line of the original be thou my vision, the English version was loosely translated. as for the concept of there being seven heavens that has its origin in older parts of the bible.
I had this song playing at my wedding during communion. I also walked down the isle while this song was being played on the organ. This was the prayer in my heart at that time and it always will be now and for ever.

I don't think this is Roma Downey singing. It may be Enya. But I don't honestly know.
Roma is only narrating. Still very beautiful.
I believe it's being sung in Gaelic.
