Hartnell was a very talented actor, but of course people only remember the slip ups... I'm not sure someone like David Tennant today could of got all his lines right every time pretty much always on the 1st take, whilst suffering from an illness effecting his memory. What William Hartnell did over 3 years was phenomenal.
I liked this "Doctor Who" story, "The Chase" is one of my favorites from the William Hartnell era. It is sad to see Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright leave, but at least they got home alright, though 2 years after they left. The Doctor and Vicki see on the Time-Space Visualiser that Ian and Barbara got back to Earth alright, but the sadness in the Doctor's voice saying he will miss them is touching. It is always sad to see any companion of the Doctor leave.
This scene just breaks my heart...
