Doc is always a bit shy about his finger picking and is more widely recognized for his flat-picking. But his clean finger-picking is as good as anyone. I really love one of his live versions of "Sitting on top of the World" (open D tuning). One of the live versions is not good; his hands seem really cold playing outdoors, but the other live version is breath taking.
