This Song As Well As All The Songs On The Plain Dirt Fashion Collection Was Is The Best...I Live And Was A Fan When U Folks Were Hitting The Festivals And Will Always Be A Fan...This Song Is So Touching This One !!! U Should Create A New Album Just Around This Songg And Long Hard Road !!!
um, i like jeff ... but what a lie. that song was written by jimmy ibbotson in an effort to win back his ex-wife and mother of their daughter sarah jean. and by the way, they don't sound right minus ibby.
my daughter was ten monthes old when my wife and i were married this song made my wife, my mother and grandmother cry when i played it at the reception
My husband and I got married when our daughter was just 2...she danced with her Daddy to this song!! We are now divorced and it still brings tears to my eyes to hear it!!
@youwishiwouldsay this is truly your song , i got misty reading your story. maybe you can help me with finding the song ( video tape) off the Plain Dirt Fashion album . I'd like to share it with alot of my facebook friends, i think some could appreciate the words.
Maybe it came late but depth of feeling and depth of meaning came dancing across the dance floor! " Children make the bond of marriage, a bond of blood! " ~ Larry O. Blevins ~
It's too bad lead singer Jimmy Ibbotson left the Dirt Band a few years ago. He sang most of their hits after they crossed over to country stardom and was a major part of their success, It's weird hearing Jeff Hanna sing this song, his voice isn't the same as Ibby's. Jeff Hanna did sing lead vocals on Mr. Bojangles, a song they recorded in the 60s. NGDB was at their peak in the 80s, with chart-topping hits including Fishin' In The Dark, Oh What A Love and Cadillac Ranch, a Springsteen cover.
This song is for my little neice Lenore. The other kids gave her so much grief for not having a daddy. When my sister married her husband he loved her like she was his own.

Great tune! Now of only there wasn't a screaming lunatic yelling into the cameras microphone while it was playing!
