I watched the show all the way through. It started off with a good premise. However, the show was very much dependent on the main character. It was so much dependent that when the actor left due to contractual issues, the show never fully recovered.

Also, the pilot episode was written just before Gene was asked to work on the first Star Trek movie so E: FC was pushed aside. When Majel (his widow) discovered it again, people thought it was written just before Gene's death.

Seasons 1,2,3 & 4 are on dvd in australia PAL region 4. I sold my season 1 region 2 dvd ages ago & bought the region 4 versions after being sick & tired of waiting for the other seasons to get a region 2 release which looks like will never happen, just waiting for season 5 to appear on the release radar in australia then this classic series will be complete. Ebay is your best bet if you wan't to buy them.

It really is haunting isn't it?

I think the secret is the human vocalist matching the pitch of the musical instrument perfectly and they blend together seamlessly.

I am not sure about the cultural influences of the muslical instruments.

My best guesses are Celtic or perhaps even East Indian in terms of the vocal style and the wind instruments being used.

But yes, a truly unique theme song for a show. Very memorable.

The show was long and memorable but it really sucks and confusing that the Boone character was quickly written out due to production conflicts and the Taelons was no longer the main antogonist. The opening sequence should have left out the obvious narration!

I bought the CD when it first came out. My mother HATES sci-fi, but as soon as sh heard it, she 'had' to have her own copy. She plays it a lot! When someone visits and I mention it is a soundtrack from a sci-fi show, they don't believe me until I show them.
