I've been using a food scale for years and I love it! I couldn't live without it. Once I got used to it it wasn't much extra work and I know exactly how much I am eating and how many calories.
Great that you're watching portions! It's also a good idea to eat with smaller dishes. Use a smaller spoon, smaller bowl, smaller plate, etc. My portions are not able to be above 2 to 3 oz of anything -- which usually fills me up anyway by that point or before that. But measuring and using smaller utensils really makes my head think I'm eating more than I am. A lot of "hunger" is really "head hunger", and this little game helps!
One new thing I'm trying: a service that delivers organic fruits and vegetables to your door once a week--and at a reasonable price. I just don't eat enough fruits and vegetables and this will give me the extra push. Tonight I'm actually having BEETS for dinner. I'm 43 years old and I don't think I've ever eaten a beet. I've always thought of them as the most horrible of vegetables. Anyway, it's another way to get motivated.
You've got a lot of videos. My objhective while losing weight is to have fun with it not make it a chore explore different exercise methods. right now it's belly dancing. How much have you lost since the beginning? I was doing great 4 days until the weekend hit with a birthday celebration and my "monthly visitor" I'm going to combat it with a few days of the lemonade diet.
Welcome to the WW fold! I tellya, I canNOT stop measuring/weighing or my ballpark portion guesstimates start to eke ever larger and before I know it (WTF?!) I stop losing or (gasp!) gain. The measuring is key and I have to do it every meal. Your tip about weighing crackers/chips instead of going by the number is great. I'm going to try that and see how closely the counts/weights match for some of my favorite products.
In the beginning it's slow because you have to calculate the points in every meal you eat. After awhile you will know the points by heart for all your staple meals and favorite foods. Then all there is to do is keep a running total through each day, and you only have to calculate points when you eat something you don't eat often. BTW, I weighed my favorite baked tortilla chips today and, you were right! The 28-gram serving is only like 9 or 10 chips, not 17 like the label says.... tsk, tsk.
lol that was one of the first things i noticed when i was doing WW, was how HUGE my cereal portions were compared to what they should be! YAY! for being back on track :D
good point. I have been measuring again lately. you simply forget how small portions are. I was thinking about it today, how a long time ago to get a coke from the store on a Saturday was a treat, and just how small they were. most people drink them for every meal now.
I am happy to give you any tips or suggestion just remeber veggies are point free i know it sucks to eat them but just find one you like corn on the cob was my favourite. i saw you were trying to avoid soda in australia the diet was zero points as well you get use to the diet soda after a while. i use to hate it now i'm a pepsi MAX girl and if i can't get that i go the coke zero.
I haven't seen the commercial but it worked for me. I lost a about 7 pounds in one week. Mostly, the other meal of the day was a huge salad with chicken or ham. Not very low calorie.
Hey Girl!
Just touching base with everyone, letting them know that I'm back, and I'm here for support. Check out my vids sometimes. Ciao!

I lost weight by eating two bowls of Special K's diet cereal and one fairly normal meal.
