@jonesc54 Actually you got it mixed up. Halycon class ships, like the Pillar of Autum for example were military vessels, but older models. As the Covenant were pushing in, they just refit old vessels. The Spirit of Fire was actually a civilian ship upgraded for military use.

@Ulisestkd I read the books and Reach does make sense. Noble was on the covenant dig site before the team of SPARTAN-II's arrived. If you read the book carefully instead of speed reading, you would understand that only the part of the planet, just above Dr. Halsey's office area, was glassed. The whole glassing wasn't done until Master chief and everybody else returned from the first HALO array. At the end of the first book, Master chief returns to find Reach being glassed completely.

If you go back and play and watch the length of an entire Reach day to go full circle, you will find it is incredibly long. In truth, Reach was never entire glassed to the point where the planet was unsustainable.

@aaronharun actually the books and the game reach dont cross at all, for a reason. Bungie already brought this up and said that the book The Fall of Reach was based on the events of reach but not actually what happened. When it came down to it the game was what bungie intended to have happen.

Possibly the best starship battle sceene of HAL0 cannon. Though I found it funny that UNSC and Covenant were almost even with only seeing a UNSC frigate destroyed at the same time a covenant cruiser was also destroyed. Id figures a few UNSC cruisers would have gone down too in that engagement.

Although in Unyielding a UNSC fleet dose jump out of hyperspace but is destroyed by the covenant fleet. however you don't get to see that.
