yeah, stealth fighters are amazing, but they are absolutely not 100% invisible. trained radar operators can recognize their approaching signature eventually and thought the response time would be greatly reduced, the probability of a stealth aircraft dodging 20 incoming modern russian SAMs is pretty low.
In pure air to air, american aircraft definitely come out on top, but against the sheer multitude of russian/chinese ground to air weapons, they lose against brute forced probability.

I can validly claim that the US Navy old RIM8 Talos system is better than the S300 and S400.

I am actually glad that hitler did not get russia, but just the second world war fascinates me as in terms of warfare it had some huge developments. Also as you say there were many deciding factors that turned the war for the allies.
It was the harsh russian winter that brought the germans down in the end, not having the preparations for it, also the fact that hitler pushed the germans to far into russia to fast was also a factor that secured the victory.
It is my belief, had hitler waited for the winter to pass before invading russia, the situation would be very different. The scorched earth tactic prvented german panzers and tigers from getting the needed fuel tho.

Germans had supply trains traveling from romania to give the panzers oil, polish and ukrainian bread to feed germans and so on. Germans were not malnutrized as most russians. And they stayed like that for most of the war.
i'm not saying it was malnurishment either, the russian winter was one of the decididing factors, but not the only one. True they had food, they also had supply satation, but those supplies never reached the frontline in most cases.
A deciding factor was also the rate armor could be produced, russian t-34 were easy, german tanks not so easy. So russians also had the advantage there. Also the russian tanks was much better for the climate compared to german tanks.
the problem with a country who uses missiles as its main form of long range attacks is that the missiles leave a very nice smoke trail for anyone to follow via attack helo or jet...so much for the sneaky sneaky use of the song...
Artillery rockets, maybe. No chance againts any Advanced Russian Air-Defence systems. They'd be shot down before reaching their efficient targeting range.
They classify military budget in terms of in emergancy mobilization spending. The more money spent, the higher percentage of the troops can react faster in a crisis.
Russia will have a difficult time doing quick mobilization due to the funds. That is why many of their negotiations use the term Nuclear force instead of military, they can have influence without necessarily having a ready to use army.
But they put basically ALL the tax money into the military, if not that then military research.

@hallopapa111 I beg to differ. Our troop salaries are not tied to the economy. They are paid from a reserve kept for that purpose.Apparently a great many people will risk or lay down their lives for free, think various religious zealots. The economy will come back and at some point all civilizations fall, true enough, but, it will be at some distant point in the future I think. I found the Russian people among the friendliest of all my travels. Our differences are philosophical, I think.

The AN/AAQ 24 laser countermeasure is already in use in U.S. and U.K. AWACS aircraft as well as spec ops C130s. They're capable of downing missiles from around a quarter mile away by firing on the fuel tank of the AA missile. Just saying.

@666BirdOfPrey you need to know one fact about the russian S400 system. it has not yet been completed and currently uses the older s300 missle. in current state it no different from the s300 system. the only differance is the delivery system of the missle nothing else.

@MsIceball This thing does not fly 4800 km/s, maybe 4800 km/h. Also as a single stage system 250 km is a bit of an exageration even for the old Soviet Union. Their best SAM ever, the SA-2 only had a 45km range are a 2 stage system. I'm talking about actual combat operations not silly masterbating to pictures and stats.

@Ethereal1967 With the complete system the US acquired, we know these ranges are exagerated quite a bit. The 300PT falls somewhere between HAWK A and HAWK B range. The 300PMU1 is still roughly tripple 300PT range. As this system has never seen combat, talking about how great it is, is worse than meaningless. I can validly claim that the US Navy old RIM8 Talos system is better than the S300 and S400.

@lazoization And your point is?? This is the SA-6 (NATO) GAINFUL. Extremely deadly within performance envelope. This system is not part of the S300 system which starts off using the SA-10 missile (the naval varient is the SA-N-6) both are called GRUMBLE.

Continuing, let's not forget hitlers big misstake, thinking he would take russia during summer/autumn, but with that kind of war he had and the several frontlines it was sheer stupidity.
I'm not talking down on the russians here at all which some seems to think, russians used the terrain and their numbers very well against a foe that was more advanced in terms of technology, also the sloped armor was a huge development to tanks which allowed lighter and faster tanks.

Actually - Creation of US Weaponry come from our Military budget and NATO Budget. If China were to stop investing into the US, Chinese Economy will fall because US Corporations have created thousands of jobs for many Qualified Chinese. If the US would stop investing and Placing Companies in China, there Economic relationship would fall and US would loose their share of money that they made in Chinese investments

The german king tiger had a 10:1 kill ratio against the t34, the russian tanks was inferior to the germans, the only reason the russians won was 1. they had the number advantage
2. due t o the russian scorched earth tactics germans had a hard time establish supply routes.
3.mainteance for the german tanks was extremely high.
Overall tho, the germans had the best tanks in the war, altho they were hard to maintain.

2) The scorched earth policy worked in the first year of war. Yes its true, but did scorched earth win us the battle of stalingrad, leningrad, kursk and etc.? i thought it did not. It slowed germans, but they were still well fed and taken care of for the most of the war.

My bad, it was the panzer IV that had a good kill ratio against the russian tanks, due to it's good speed and higher range, the advantage of the german tanks was their armament and range against the russians.
I never said russian tanks were inferior, read my comment again, am i calling them inferior?.
As far as the slow down, the slowdown was the key to vicotry, the germans had counted with a fast victory, they never planned for the harsh russian winter.

Well not necessarily. German and russian tanks were pretty much even. Its just that german anti-tank infantry was good, it had faustshells, and panzershreks which russians never had. My granfather fought in the battle of kursk. he said that most russian tanks were destroyed by antitank guns and infantry

A headon shell on the t-34 would just bounce off tho from a tank due to the sloped armor, but yeah i've seen the inside of the t-34 , must have been a nightmare to drive.
I am actually glad that hitler did not get russia, but just the second world war fascinates me as in terms of warfare it had some huge developments. Also as you say there were many deciding factors that turned the war for the allies.

It was the harsh russian winter that brought the germans down in the end, not having the preparations for it, also the fact that hitler pushed the germans to far into russia to fast was also a factor that secured the victory.
It is my belief, had hitler waited for the winter to pass before invading russia, the situation would be very different. The scorched earth tactic prvented german panzers and tigers from getting the needed fuel tho.

@Demon2k3 Yes yes we all know that westerners like to say "Russian winter is responsible for most russian military successes", Yes it was helpful, but winter alone cannot win the war. Germans had supply trains traveling from romania to give the panzers oil, polish and ukrainian bread to feed germans and so on. Germans were not malnutrized as most russians. And they stayed like that for most of the war.

i'm not saying it was malnurishment either, the russian winter was one of the decididing factors, but not the only one. True they had food, they also had supply satation, but those supplies never reached the frontline in most cases.
A deciding factor was also the rate armor could be produced, russian t-34 were easy, german tanks not so easy. So russians also had the advantage there. Also the russian tanks was much better for the climate compared to german tanks.

They classify military budget in terms of in emergancy mobilization spending. The more money spent, the higher percentage of the troops can react faster in a crisis.
Russia will have a difficult time doing quick mobilization due to the funds. That is why many of their negotiations use the term Nuclear force instead of military, they can have influence without necessarily having a ready to use army.
But they put basically ALL the tax money into the military, if not that then military research.
