Gene Wilder was good. But here's something that I find odd. Tina Marjorino is the only American in this movie who does a British accent. Wilder doesn't do it, Whoopi Goldberg doesn't do it and Christopher Lloyd...well that's debatable.

I don't like the alterations to the Mock Turtle in this movie. In the book he blubbers and sobs until it is just ridiculous. Not here. Also, in the book he has a whole spiel describing his education listing courses such as "ambition, distraction, uglification and derision" which our ear recognizes as "addition, subtraction, multiplication and division," but in this movie that comedic technique is lost.
