  • Thanks!!! you may not notice it but I have learned from you over the week....I improved my solo even though it's in a different key. But thanks anyways! my solo is in two days and I'm nerves simply because It's my first time doing a solo in solo & ensemble here in Las Vegas, Nevada. Greatings from Rancho High School Band In Las Vegas!

  • I notice your embouchure is very high, which is "correct" according to my teacher. Mine is extremely low, the rim of the mouthpiece resting on the fleshy part of my upper lip even. I've been playing like that for 6 years now and my teacher says that I MUST change it but I can barely produce a sound at all with the higher one, and when I do, that sound is dreadful. My sound quality has always been what impressed judges who listened to me. Should I really change becuase a Ph.D. says i must?

  • @CDrewHorn If what you are doing works in all registers, there is no need to change. Dennis Brain and Radek Baborak, two of the best to ever play the horn, play (or played) lower on their upper lip than most. If it's not broken, don't try to fix it!!!

  • is this piece also arranged for horn and orchestra? Thanks! Beautiful playing. xxx

  • @marycello1 I think so. But the orchestra is just the background.

  • thx a ton very helpful

  • i wish i could play this nicely on my french horn e_e

  • Wow very good. Doing this for my grade 5 horn. Any advice

  • I love this piece. I've been playing for about 4 years. Though I don't really practice as much as I should. Now that I'm in college I want to practice more and be better. Do you have any suggestions on exercies I should do when I practice? It would be really helpul.

  • @nualart19 From the C-Major to Cis-Major, A minor to Ais-Minor scales. Just do it at ur own will, it's only important to keep ur mouth in a good shape so u could last longer in practicing ...

  • I played this song in 7th grade! I loved it so much! :) I kind of want to play it again to see what it sounds like now that I'm older

  • why do you play a lower version?

  • where can i buy this sheet music with accompaniment ???

  • @heyho09 almost everywhere! just google it...

  • @mortalfrog0815 i have bought it and played it at several performances

  • thank you so much for posting this! i'm doing this for my solo.

  • Wow! each time I listen to this it sounds different! sometimes the figures sound as written in 3/4, other times they sound more like Eric Ruske's and others with the figures sounding like 6/8 in two beats per measure. Very confusing...not sure why?!

  • Nope! just listened to it again and it seems the eighth-note figures are being done in two sets ofthree, like 6/8 time, as are the other version - Erick Ruske and others. I don't understand... the piece is written in 3/4?

  • I'm wondering why yours is the only YouTube entry of this piece that plays the 6-eighth note figure in the 3rd measure and elsewhere correctly. In all the other versions it seems the players present it in 6/8 time as two 3note figures instead of the 6 eighth-note figure in 3/4?

  • This is a great piece, could you send me the music please? I have a solo coming up.

  • Thank you so much!!! I have to play this for an audition and this is very helpful!!!

  • Which camera do you use to record? Mine always gives off static.

You are excellent. This is a perfect reference for my audition piece.

I hope you are doing well

  • @tophrocks234 I use a Cannon HG20 camera, but the reason my audio sounds so good is that I use an external mic (MXL 990) that I run through a mixer and then into the camera. I don't use the camera's microphone.

  • Your my hero<3

  • Great!!! You're awesome!!!

  • This is great my email is hayesdashon@yahoo.com

  • This is very pretty. I've been playing the horn since January. Maybe one day I'll be able to play this.

  • eu tenho a partitura desta obra...

  • bellissima da ascoltare, una esecuzione fatta molto bene. .............. Bravissimo

  • I'm taking this solo to Solo Ensemble In February. I love this song. Your recording was beautiful. It gives me something look up and listen to when I have issues with it. So thank you

  • i played this song for my solo ensemble today... i got a 1st

  • You're the best steve, congratulations!

  • Pięknie zagrane:)

  • wooww very very very cutee, by an italian ;)

  • Thanks, its close to my vision. Switching to Conn 14d, ideal horn for recitals, youll get an ample ton replete with colors and still keep patriotic fervor. Still, I would keep 8d as a good marching band equipment.

  • I play this song aswell, my dad's getting me to listen to this. His really good.

  • Can you please send(message) me a copy or link to a picture that's uploaded on photobucket of the sheet music? Thanks.

  • Wow! Very nice. I can't wait for Morceaux! Are you planning on doing the Gliere Concerto? That's one of my favorites.

  • I love the Gliere as well, but it is complicated to coordinate with pre-recorded midi accompaniment. I might try the second movement.

  • I looooove this!! Ooo, can you do Morceaux de Concert next?

  • I am doing the Beethoven Sonata next. Then I will record the Morceaux de Concert.

  • you play this pieci in es?

  • concert Eflat - yes. I like the more mellow sound of the lower key signature.

  • this one's great; love this piece

  • do you play it on f-side and a second lower?

  • Some arrangements are in C. This one is in Bb, which I like better. I use standard fingerings.

  • I'll have to order this pretty solo! Your sound is reminds me of the few records I've heard of Dennis Brain. very nice =)
