Bear Bryant admitted he was afraid to play Switzer's team. Also, Alabama is 0-5 all time against Oklahoma. Now get back to writing Jim Crow laws and getting your inbred asses handed to you by USC, you fucking dirty pieces of worthless southern trash. Name one white athlete worth a shit to ever come from SEC country. You can't! Oklahoma and Nebraska are the last regions to produce any athletic whites. You all are too inbred and cheer for blacks that you wouldn't allow in your own homes.
@edelweissnpa I don't think I've ever read a more retarded, tasteless comment on youtube ever. You're calling us inbred and racist when you're defending Oklahoma and Nebraska? You are the epitome of brainless. I hope I didn't confuse you with that word. Bama is 5-2 against USC and I can name quite a few white athletes from the SEC they're pretty easy to find cause one of them kicked Oklahoma's ass in the 08' title game! Go back to your trailer in Omaha or whatever you prick.
@37sec USC and the great coach, John McKay, saved the UAT CRIMSON TURD football program in 1970 after the Trojan's administered a thorough whipping of UAT by a score of 42-21.
@edelweissnpa 0-5? I do believe you need to go back and check the history on the series. They have only played 4 times. Alabama beat Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl 17-0 while Coach Bryant was still the Coach at Alabama. I've never heard Coach Bryant ever admit to being afraid to play Oklahoma. Alabama has nothing to fear from the Sooners.
@edelweissnpa Switzer's a boy, not a man. Coach Byant was not a racist. He's the reason Alabama started playing black players. Do not get Coach Bryant mixed up with the likes of George Wallace.
@teh1199 I agree with you. Bear was great and John McKay of Southern Cal made him what he was. McKay saved Bear's career by playing UAT in 1970 and I'm glad he did that. On the other hand, as great as Bryant was, you UATer's should be ashamed for hiring that milk dud Nick Saban. No class at all and totally headed for the dimwith institution. What a tool!!!
i actually have a copy of this poem that my father gave me when i was little and first started playing football that he received directly from bear at a game back in the 70s. it is my dearest possession and i keep it in my wallet and remove it every morning and read it to myself.
if you have an mp3 clip of this, i'd love to have it. it'd certainly save my old tattered piece of paper some wear and tear...
Love the bear... By the way I saw one the best video tributes to the 2009 Ala season on youtube. try typing double d roll tide into youtube I think you can get it like that. It's great
As a Hog fan I always had heard that he was about to except the head coaching job in Fayetteville but then Pearl Harbor happened..... My dad knew all about it we even looked up the old hotel where he and his wife had stayed the night at on college st in downtown Fayetteville where he was at about to become the next Razorback coach. Man, Arkansas was pretty good at that time too and can only imagine what could have been. But JFB did a great job for us too and we all know that the Bear was God.
Great tribute to the greatest coach in college football history! I remember the day Bear passed away vividly: I was 15 years old at Lyman Ward Military Academy when the news came, it was as if time had stopped.

Coach Bryant still runs that football program. 25 years later. Always will. He'd be very proud of this years team.
