nickoliski in order for one to reach good improv they have to transcribe other great jazz artists solos whether it is sax or guitar, kurt would even say that was one of the ways he became good at improv, no one just pops out of the sky with all these ideas without influence from someone elses playing every new great jazz player, kurt, redman meld, is influenced by their elders

This is the only time I did this. That's not a solo either...... It's the melody of the song. I'm not trying to be kurt, I don't think I am him, and I don't claim anything about myself. All I did was put this video up because I felt like challenging myself to learn the melody, and thought it was beautiful, so I shared my opinion with everyone by putting it up.

Nice flow on the transcription bro... you got the time feel down. I know what you guys are saying. I tried working some stuff out, but abandoned it. Playing it's realatively easy compared to understanding the harmony. I decided to go back to bird for the time being and just listen to this stuff...

If you haven't already, I suggest checking out Intuit and to a lesser extent, East Coast Love Affair, his two non-verve albums. I don't think they're as good as his later releases, but they're mostly jazz standards so you can look up the changes pretty easily, and then analyze what he's doing over them. I find it overwhelming to dive right into Next Step or Heartcore. To me it's kind of like trying Calculus before Algebra.
