Michael Huff might be playin' backup 2 Tyvon Branch who is a big speed guy. At 6'1 205 and runnin' a 4.3 Branch has the physical attributes to be a beast. Actually the Bears were about 2 draft him in the 2nd round. And its not that he didnt show up 2 the combine, he wasnt invited becaause he came from a small school and didnt have the exposure like the players from bigger schools had.

You must've not been paying attention when the bears were gonna draft him at pick #49 which was 2 picks after we drafted him. Word got out that the bears were gonna get him early and I'm glad that we were able to get the heads up and grab him before they did. Believe me I was pissed when I heard we drafted this guy and found out he was projected to go 5th or 6th round. I read into it, saw this video and I'm glad the way things turned out.
But how about the DHB draft? If Davis was wise, he would have traded the #7 pick to a team for a mid 1st rounder and a 3rd rounder....and DHB still would have been available in the Mid first.
Bad move by Davis....even if Heyward-Bey wasnt available in the mid 1st, Maclin in my mind would have been better anyways.

I agree with you 100%. Raiders easily could've traded down and not only get Darrius Heyward Bey, but also another top draft pick either this year on next year. So many top players were available at the time and we had a great opportunity of getting DHB plus another top player. I think people were so upset about our first pick, it affected the way people thought about our second pick. I guarantee if we would've drafted Crabtree, nobody would've over-reacted about getting Michael Mitchell.

chambers is a good #2 guy at this point i think, and vincent jackson i think will be a stud soon, he is scary, good speed, great size, he jus needs to fine tune some of his skills, but he is a force as is, n dont get it twisted i am a raiders fan, we are the ones who NEED a WR, we should have gone monroe round one, traded up in the 2nd n got robiskie, and then the 2010 draft, re-unite jamarcus russell wit brandon lafell but so much for all of that :(

I wrote an article on Bleacher Report the day before the draft on Mitchell and why the Raider's if going Saftey in the draft must draft this young man.
While watching the Draft when they called his name in round 2 I came out of my chair, He has the potential to really become something special and plays the position like I alway's thought it should be played.
The Raiders did a great job of trading down in round 2 to 2 spots before he would have went off the board at 49 to the Bears.

There are doubts about Maclin because of the system he played in. At least DHB played in a pro-style system and he runs better routes. They he is a burner with questionable hands, but that was the rap on Cliff Branch coming out of Colorado. Time will tell and there are few sure things in this draft, from Matthew Stafford on down.

Sports fans, for the most part, get all their information on draft picks from "experts" without actually doing research themselves.
If you watch a lot of football, it doesn't take a genius to see this kid can play. He's always been under the radar, and even led his high school team to a state championship in '04. Ohio University safeties (or any in the MAC), no matter good they are, will never get much publicity.
Before anyone can realistically grade a draft, they need to wait 3 or 4 years.

i dont know if you get it johnnybananas, but mccshay and kiper are simply speculating like every other person behind the tv. this is where you were wrong, the bears called mitchel 5 picks prior to the raiders picks and told him they were going to draft him but oakland ended up getting him first so the bears traded back. so he wouldnt have been there in even the third round. its all specualtion until they play a snapl. this kids a hard hitter and has the potential to become someting special.

Michael Huff might be playin' backup 2 Tyvon Branch who is a big speed guy. At 6'1 205 and runnin' a 4.3 Branch has the physical attributes to be a beast. Branch would have been startin' last year over Huff but he got hurt 4 the season. Can u imagine Branch and Mitchell startin' in our Defensive backfield.......monster combo!

He wouldn't have been avaiable two picks later as the Bears were going to pick him. Check the Raider website for the transcript of his iterview. Chicago called him and told him they were picking him.....So, no wasted pick, especially if he does pan out to knock some heads....

Actually the Bears were about 2 draft him in the 2nd round. And its not that he didnt show up 2 the combine, he wasnt invited becaause he came from a small school and didnt have the exposure like the players from bigger schools had.

You must've not been paying attention when the bears were gonna draft him at pick #49 which was 2 picks after we drafted him. Word got out that the bears were gonna get him early and I'm glad that we were able to get the heads up and grab him before they did. Believe me I was pissed when I heard we drafted this guy and found out he was projected to go 5th or 6th round. I read into it, saw this video and I'm glad the way things turned out.

But how about the DHB draft? If Davis was wise, he would have traded the #7 pick to a team for a mid 1st rounder and a 3rd rounder....and DHB still would have been available in the Mid first.
Bad move by Davis....even if Heyward-Bey wasnt available in the mid 1st, Maclin in my mind would have been better anyways.
Until Davis dies, the Raiders will always be on the bottom lookin up. (No offense man).

I agree with you 100%. Raiders easily could've traded down and not only get Darrius Heyward Bey, but also another top draft pick either this year on next year. So many top players were available at the time and we had a great opportunity of getting DHB plus another top player. I think people were so upset about our first pick, it affected the way people thought about our second pick. I guarantee if we would've drafted Crabtree, nobody would've over-reacted about getting Michael Mitchell.

I agree, getting a DHB influneced the way people thought on Michael Mitchell. Since getting DHB was a bonehead move, fans automatically assumed Mitchell was too. But after seeing this video, my opinion has changed on this kid, he's very versitile, hard hitter, great instincts. The only flaw is that he didnt play against top-notch schools.
Anyways congrats on getting Mitchell.

No one had our guys ranked that high, that means we could have traded down, got more picks, spent less money and still got the guys we wanted.
