Es increíble ver cómo los mismos mexicanos y latinos desacreditan el talento de Rolando Villazón cuando éste, en todo el mundo, es aclamado como ídolo de la ópera moderna. En Europa y en la cuna del arte de la ópera Rolando Villazón es aclamado y aceptado como un gran maestro pese a ser tan joven aún. Sé de canto y los comentarios de que "forza" su voz, de que su técnica es mala no tienen ningún fundamento. Todo se reduce únicamente a la envidia por lo que veo. Dejen la envidia, no es sana.

So tragic that Villazon made the same mistake Jose Carreras made and ruined his great voice by approaching the spinto repertoire way too soon, especially considering that he was a lyric tenor and should have stayed there in the first place.

@Liu666able Ahora si te fuiste lejos. Como es posible que consideres mejor tenor a Carreras? Jose Carreras tal vez antes de la operacion que le fue practicada era bueno. Pero despues su voz se vino al suelo. A mi en lo personal no me gusta como canta, si a ti te gusta pues es muy tu gusto. Villazon es mejor que Carreras aunque te cueste aceptarlo. Escucha tambien el concierto de "Los 3 Tenores" y veras que Carreras es el peor cantante de ellos. Ten un buen dia y no te enojes.

He is just the product of two factors:the media controlled by the gay mafia and Placido Domingo blackmailing all theaters in the world to hire him.

He sings so badly and with such a poor discipline that he had to stop a perfomance of Lucia at the met due to his inability to sing high notes.

I like a lot the voice of this man. the point is maybe that we have different concepts of discipline and techiniqe because me and maybe other 6 000 millions people like Placido singing in theaters .. Having said that I don't like the way he approaches the various roles,everything is self-centered and always trying to off-stahe his partners.Last time I saw him in "Elisir d'Amore"it was ,to say the least,embarrassing:he looked and acted as Mr Bean.

He open the high notes in a vulgar way and shouts all the way,never a piano or a subtlety in his delivery.

The young Domingo(up to the early 80's)Carreras,Kraus,Gigli and above all Corelli.

Recently I heard a tenor from Genova-Fabio Armiliato-in Turandot and liked his delivery very much.

Also used to love Alagna,now he is just a disaster:too much money and too much fame.

@Liu666able I have heard several great tenors,and I enjoy Domingo,Carreras,and Pavarotti,but I personally prefer Rolando's beautiful voice.His passion for the music he sings makes me more interested in opera than I ever have been before.He gives such touching performances,with great, powerful notes,and quiet, emotional ones.I heard about the incident at the Met as well--when he stopped for a moment and finished the show at a half-tone lower due to illness.And I don't think that deserves insults.

@Procrastimaster As I wrote before to another person on this forum,I insult people if they insult me ,and this has been the case when i say write something against villazon.

having said that i think he cannot be compared to any of the great tenors you mentioned because he has no good vocal emission,his high notes are out of control and shouted and the way he behaves on the stage looks more like a Mr Bean than a serious opera singer.

@Liu666able Actually, I have always thought he looks quite like Mr. Bean! But I don't mind so much.I do enjoy his music, and I understand that some people do not. I am only now really getting interested in opera, and my taste will probably change in time. For now,I'm not necessarily trying to change anyone's opinions, I just think it's possible to be sufficiently critical of his talent without being overly critical of the man himself.(That's just my opinion,I mean no ill feelings toward anyone!)

Have to say thank you too for indirectly recommending Cecilia Bartoli's Vivaldi album when talking about your Handel CD in some of the accompanying bumpf. (What is the Spanish word for bumpf?). Her CD is a fantastic thing -- full of energy and spirit, much like your own Handel, if you will forgive me.

Couldn't be more pleased that Handel is such a big part of your 2010 calendar. Bravo
