Clearly the mummy thing allows for turnover in the band without fan/money/contract issues. Gorillaz isn't even done with real people, same concept. Both are just doing something that gives them a cool approach while being a smart decision for the overall band concept. They play it great and its fun. Get over yourself.
Is this guy on every HCTM video complaining that the mummy concept isn't new and thinks some 80s band invented it? Yeah, no one had ever spoofed mummies before the 80s. They must have invented dressing up in crazy goth/horror inspired costumes and face paint. I must have dreamed up KISS. This band is having fun, gets others having fun, puts on a great show. Yeah, that really sucks. I grew up on punk and any real punk fan would never cop that attitude. They'd respect individual choice.

As far as rippin' horn parts and funk and latin go, this band is one of the best; they're absolutely incredible. As far as the mummies go, their rock is good, but just not my cup of tea. Fort Wayne 11/19/11, my 3rd Mummy experience. Took some friends for their first time! The Mummies were awesome as usual. And for the first time the Saxist was wearing women's underwear... I had always thought they were all guys. D'oh
