  • oh my gosh such great memories as a kid....

  • I wish, they would put back CBS Storybreak on tv.

  • @itsfrank0 Why? With all the crappy reality shows cartoon and few sitcoms and poor writing from TV to MUSIC and everything else NOW-A-DAZE. I think it's best to leave golden days where they are! 33 yrs old i say "Story Break" is a TREASURE of many!!!! among many of OUR GENERATION! Why share it they'd only destroy it with more poor writing and AUTO TUNE!

  • I'm surprised the success of this series didn't prompt CBS to coin it's cartoons "CBS Storybreak Saturday ", and place this theme over every show's credit sequence.

  • Wow, what I would give to relive my childhood! I love being an 80's kid.

  • They should bring this back!!! They have ruined it for the kids not of the eighties. Now there's only crap on tv!

  • Question: about when is this clip from? (I don't remember this show as well as some.)

  • @Tizmaole I believe this was right around 1985. :)

  • @TrelliaChan So I found out, after looking it up on Wikipedia (duh, me!): about 1985-1988. Thanks.

  • I always thought the intro rocked haha. I guess three people dislike reading.

  • It's just real animation! It's better than the new generation cartoons

  • I used to watch this all the time!!!

  • @tigerqueen007 You and me both! I loved the series. Did you know before the live-action "How to Eat Fried Worms" was in theaters, it was on HERE?

Also, I loved the action episode "Dragon's Blood". I think it was part of some book series.

  • just though of something elese, I was in the 8th grade about to take the PSAt and was eating breakfast and CBS Storybreak came on and my reaction was, "Oh snap, this show still comes on and this was in 1994.

  • God, my childhood.

  • Saturday mornings on CBS. Ah!! How miss getting up in the mornings and watching saturday morning cartoons.

  • I'm Still Looking For A CBS Storybreak Clips That Have Malcom Jamal Warner Hosting It.

  • Man I miss this! I only remember a couple of them, the one with the robot named C.L.U.T.Z. and the one were the kid turned into a monster or something. Although I don't remember what the last one was called.

  • @goodcantalope I remember the one with C.L.U.T.Z. too. That was one of my favorites! Unfortunately, I haven't been able to FIND it anywhere.

  • excellent guitar work.

  • Oh man!!! I remembered this!! I used to watch this all the time when I was little! Thanks for posting this!!

  • I am getting ready to cry. I remember watching this is the eighties when there were actually cartoons on Saturday and it was worth it to wake up early on weekends and have something to watch.

  • @zshaw7549 LOL. This show always brought mixed emotions. I was glad that there was still ONE more cartoon to watch but at the same time I knew It was all about to end. Then I would think about how I would have to wait aallll day Sunday and monday till afterschool cartoons came.

  • R.I.P Bob Keeshan.

  • I miss this show. I remember watching it on TV. They should release this on DVD.

  • @SkyfireTheFox, I would have to agree with you, and I think they should have this in a box set dvd.

  • There are no more network educational shows, are there?

  • Saturday mornings were the greatest. I thinking of this intro a few weeks ago but I could not remember the name of the show.

  • Wow I remember that tune, more so than any other intro from the 80's. Thanks for posting.

  • you don't get quality like this now that you get cartoons all the time... :(

  • This was one of my fav Saturday morning shows... I wish they had cartoons like I this still for my boys to watch

  • HEY! Where's Captain Kangaroo?! It would've been nice to have at least a couple of seconds of him.

  • Crazy nostalgia. Feels freaking crazy.

  • Takes me back!

  • It's really weird. I remember watching this opening a lot as a kid, but I don't ever remember watching the actual show. I'm assuming I did and just don't remember for some reason.

  • Love Comics?G00gle:crimsonarcher jimdo and checkout my PinUp-Tony Baez

  • oh man i loved this show! i even started to read more thanks to it.

i think I've fond and read almost every book the episodes were bast off of. i wish someone would put up some episodes I'm dieing to see dragon's blood again it was my fav.

  • I talked about CBS Storybreak in one of my videos. I don't think youtube would let me put some of the episodes.

  • That song gives me nostalgic goosebumps. Haven't heard it in a long time. ^_^

  • I love the theme song.

  • I liked the Chinese Cinderella cartoon. Cartoons these days just aren't like they used to be.

  • You've remembered that story! That was the 1st time I've discovered this show. Now I'm glad that I don't feel like the only one who knew that story. It was that Chinese tale that I've learned about Cinderella.

    -R78

  • I talked about CBS Storybreak in one of my videos.

  • I talked about CBS Storybreak in one of my videos.

  • I agree. You should check out my videos.

  • @writinglike

Yes, the Chinese Cinderella cartoon. The one with the fish!?

I tell people about that all of the time. I wish I could find the entire collection of CBS Storybreak..

  • Wow!!!!!! I was just thinking about CBS storybreak and the first tale that came to my mind was the Chinese Cinderella. Actually, its the only one I can remember 'cause it was unique. This was one of my first encounters with another civilization and a tale similar to our own.

  • Wasn't there like a talking fish and it got eaten? I remember it making me cry lol

  • I talked about CBS Storybreak in one of my videos.

  • I wish they still showed this stuff, man. Especially since tomorrow is Saturday.. i keep hoping someone at CBS would just slip an episode on randomly..i miss this show!

  • Me too.

  • THE GOOD OLD DAYS!!!!!

  • Good memories. ^^

  • I talked about CBS Storybreak in one of my videos.

  • Why aren't there any more views than this? This was one of the greatest shows ever.

  • Money that why they really don't care about morals on television anymore.

  • Its the TV Networks.

  • EXACTLY! I am very glad I grew up in the 80's and 90's I feel so bad for kids today! Such a shame!

  • Yes. I know tons of teenagers that wish they were born in the 80's and I'm 29. They totally missed out on classics like this and Neverending Story. I show them and they're like "WOW"

  • I talked about CBS Storybreak in one of my videos.

  • @SweeetCherryPieAyAy I agree, those where the days, sadly America is collapsing today.

  • @SweeetCherryPieAyAy I feel you. I will educate mine on the goodies.

  • @SweeetCherryPieAyAy

yes i agree! they are missing out

  • @SweeetCherryPieAyAy I have to agree. What makes me shake my head is that there is no reintroduction/remake of this series.

  • I talked about CBS Storybreak in of my videos.

  • I agree.

  • @radix9523

Well, if you're in the U.S.A., it's because about a decade ago, the Federal Comunications Comission passed a law banning advertizments of sugary foods and sodas (Pop-Tarts, Bubble Tape, Captain Crunch Cereal...etc.) durring Saturday-morning cartoon shows (they were worried about obesity in kids).

As these companies had primarily funded the shows, the good cartoons pretty much vanished from network TV.

  • @SinnFein4ever I wouldn't be surprised if such a thing could be tracked back to those assholes the clintons.

  • @radix9523

I guess b/c the programming ppl nowadays are nothing but morons.

  • Comment removed

  • I have no way to do it.

  • some nice guitar work there.

  • Malcolm Jamal Warner was the 2nd host.

  • got any more CBS Storybreak Episodes?.

  • The guitar made the theme song in this intro one of my absolute favorites as a kid. I want my freaking childhood back!

  • I feel the same way.

  • tvshowsondvd

  • I seem to recall this show was in reruns until very recently... the early 2000s, maybe?

  • Nice to know fresh air is very foreign to you.

  • It never came back on in early 2000s, only in 1993.

  • are you sure? I swear I saw it more recently... but memory can be deceptive.

  • Yes, I am sure. It also says it on Wikipedia.

  • I was always mad 'cuz they never showed the story with the robot dragon! because there wasn't one! False advertising! Grrr!

  • Sucks to be you. I watched that robot dragon claymation episode and loved it to bits. The dragon burnt down houses, bit off peoples heads, it was the coolest thing CBS has ever shown on TV! Perhaps you were too busy playing with your Jem dolls while it was on back in 1987? LOL

  • lol

  • Watched it in the 90's too.

  • I remember this! :D I miss my childhood :(

  • me too.

  • I remember this. How many years ago now? I feel old...

  • I miss the 80s!

  • holy f*ck!!! this is sooooooo nostalgic....and it just came back to me.......this is one of the reasons why it was so pleasant to be raised in the 80s

  • omg this brought back so many memories...is this available for download or on dvd anywhere?? i remember the one about the chinese cinderella and one about a talking cat...

  • I'll never understand why they cancelled this show. It had sort of an educational feel to it, as well as be entertaining.

  • I agree.

  • my favorite story was the one set in China. it had like a magic goldfish and bones in it. anyone remember that?

  • I remember that story, which was the Chinese version of Cinderella. It`s one of my favorite episodes of the show.

  • Yeah me too you're not the only one. The moms was insane!

  • omg yes! my fav!

  • Wow you mighty young to remember this..These must be your 90's memories of story break reruns..You can catch some old school cartoons on fancastdotcom (among other places) but I don't know if any of the story break stuff is on there.

  • yep it had to have been the 90's lol. i wouldn't have been born yet otherwise. :P thanks for the website tip. (:

  • It was an 80s tv show but aired for year in 1993

  • I do.

  • 80's tv rule.

  • :( brings back memories when i would sit in front of the t.v to watch it and then when it was over cbs story break pretty much rapped up the saturday morning cartoons and then i would go outside and play. this really brings back the kid in me good times. fans of cbs story break i am currently looking for episodes and will post them so give me some names. emial them to me on here k....

  • If Anyone Has Any More Clips Of This Show, Put It On Here.

  • i really miss watchin this show!!! i remember watchin this show with malcolm-jamal warner saturdays @ 12. i also remember when they stopped showin it and i was soooo disappointed!!!

  • I've been looking for episodes of this forever. :( The only one I've found is Ratha's Creature. It would be nice to see Dragon's Blood again. :) If anybody ever gets that episode (or any other episode) please post it!

  • Classic intro. Takes me back....

  • Ok some one needs to put this on Guitar Hero or Rock Band Now! I love this opening, and series.

  • this brought me back memories. when i was a little girl, i watch this at my grandma's house. thank you for playing that for me..

  • Reading Rainbow is the only one left standing for a show to devote itself to telling a story from a book, but when it comes to something other than PBS, CBS Storybreak is the best! That song and its bumpers bring back a lot of nostalgia, if it airs again, the songs shouldn't be changed.

Bring it to Kewlopolis, CBS- it will benefit all children to show that reading is beneficial and fun. Malcolm Jamaal-Warner needs a TV job, he was the best host and has to return!

  • Sweet! For some reason, everytime I'd hear the guitar solo in White Lion's "Wait", I thought of this intro... Brings back memories indeed, like how depressed I'd get knowing this was the last cartoon of the day before sports would come on lol ... Happy times! :)

  • lol I used think the same way. This was the last cartoon of the morning. Miss those days

  • i love you

  • Aw man, there really aren't a lot of episodes on here are there? I just saw Ratha's creature, which I liked, but I never watched that as a kid. This was the series where the old lady living with the family was an alien, right?

  • this tune has always been in my head, that's why I had to hunt it down to here. It's one of those shows that just sticks with you forever.

  • Wow. I Remember This Intro. Oh Memories. And I Think This Black Guy Was Hosting This. And I Can't Remember What His Name Is. Can You Remember Who I'm Talking About?. And I Wish Someone Put Up Some Episodes Of This On Here Too.

  • the black guy was malcolm jamal warner...better known as theo from the cosby show or malcolm from the show malcolm and eddie

  • nice...i almost forgot about this one. tx

  • is there any way you can show a CBS storybreak episode with malcolm jamal warner hosting it

  • My Favorites are Yeh-Sheh: A Cinderella Story from China, How to Eat Fried Worms, Chocolate Fever, Witch-Cat, and the one about the kid with the ring that turns you into a monster. I think it's called The Double Disappearance of Walter Fozbek. I'm not sure. Any updates on these. I also wanna see the episode with the dragons and the one with the tricerratops and the 2 kids!

  • This is my favorite series. If you can, here are the names of other episodes: 1 The Great Ringtail Garbage Caper 2 Yeh-Sheh: A Cinderella Story from China 3 Robbut: A Tale of Tails 4 How to Eat Fried Worms 5 Zucchini 6 Hank the Cowdog 7 The Double Disappearance of Walter Fozbek 8 Chocolate Fever 9 Dragon's Blood 10 Arnold of the Ducks 11 C.L.U.T.Z. 12 Witch-Cat 13 The Pig Plantagent 14 Harry the Fat Bear Spy 15 Hugh Pine 16 The Roquefort Gang
  • CBS Storybreak Will Feature New Books Such As "Diary Of A Madman" And "The Further Adventures Of Teenage Superspies" As Well As A New Host (I Csn't Remember Her Name) But She Is Still A Slumber Party Girl 4Ever.

  • When and where?!!

  • I wanna see the episode with the dragons and the one with the tricerratops and the 2 kids!

  • I know I was looking on here for the episode with the dragons (cant remember the name) I am shocked that wneh I did a search for CBS Storybreak it returned so few results:( I want to relive my childhood dang it.

  • Same Here.

  • CBS StereoSound is a popular stereophoinc sound system. Indicating a TV Show is in Stereo.

One more thing: CBS began using the [CC] logo in 1987.

From 1980-86 it used the National Captioning Institute (NCI) logo.

  • That's very nice to know. That fully explains that banner I've seen many times at the beginning of CBS broadcasts as a child!

  • I remember watching How to Eat Fried Worms on Storybreak...that's when Bob Keeshan hosted the show...

  • Kids don't know cartoons in 70's 80's and 90's were the golden age of animation

  • that guitar solo is kick-ass! man, it sucked how this was the last cartoon during sat morning.

  • lol, I know. Way to end the morning on a high note though :D

  • yeah, you would forget it was commin on cuz itd be around noon (when every other channel ended their Sat Morn. lineup).
