Garrosh's intention upon declaring the duel to be to the death was not, in fact, the outright death of Cairne. Garrosh wanted to see who was TRULY the better warrior of the two of them. He was fully prepared to accept his own loss and death if it came to that - a large part of why he was so furious upon discovering Magatha's treachery. She had robbed him of not only the kill, but the knowledge of whether he could have defeated Cairne fairly... honorably. Honor is EVERYTHING to Garrosh.

@AlexA7xGR It was just a duel and since Hellscream is categorized as a warrior class, he knows the difference between a duel to see whos right and a fight to the death. THe poison killed Cairne, Hellscream never had the intention of killing him. It was all part of Magatha Grimtotem's plan. She wanted leadership over Thunder Bluff real badly.
From what I read Cairne was poisoned prior to the duel with Garrosh, he had the upper-hand against Garrosh, meaning he was winning till his weapon broke. He was starting to become increasingly more ill due to the poison and eventually Garrosh managed to win.

seems to me alot of attention is focused on orcs, trolls and taurien while the undead are left sitting there planning there little evil thoughts and the blood elves are blowing each other off.

"The shattering" resecently came out and in there cairne challenges garrosh, cairne starts kicking his ass garrosh breaks cairnes weapons with one of his attacks and gets a flash wound on cairne BUT not at all fatal but carine dies they later find out that magatha put a deadly poision on garrosh newly girted "Gorehowl" (Grom hellscreams axe fyi). then magatha takes over TB and all the tauren citys but sun rock retreat and then baine takes back control of TB after a battle.

The only thing about garrosh I think is cool is that he pushed a lot. That he did a lot of work in catacalysm, thrall was a better leader imo, but he's helping with the earthen ring. The problem the horde is becoming a greater threat now. Is that he's making the horde become like the old savage orcs
I know what happens, Garrosh finds out that there will be an assassination attempt on Cairne, so he travels to Thunderbluff to save him. In order to do so, he challenges him to a dual outside, but Cairne has already been poisoned with a slow acting poison, so he dies after Garrosh defeats him, and everyone thinks it was Garrosh who killed him

@TheGear9000 no heres what happened Cairne Bloodhoof and Garrosh had a dissagreement and then it lead to a duel but magatha Grimtotem put poison on Garrosh Hellscreams axe and Cairne was killed by the poison after he had died the Grimtotem tried to raid Thunder bluff to take over but baine was able to fend off the attack. and if u go to thunder bluff during cata at about lv 20 theres a quest called rites of the tauren where u have to kill magathas brother thums up if that wat hapend to cairne

@Metal4rLyfe The whole part makes me tear up. Beginning to end Cairne was amazingly gentle, yet strong. The third part bearing Cairne's and the Tauren's meaning is.. It's the first time WoW ever made me cry, thanks to Blizz killing off someone who I've grown to like playing over WC 3 :(

Basically, Cairne is enraged because a group of Twilight Cultist Orcs dressed in Horde Armor purposely attacked, and killed a group of druids, EVEN knowing that half of them were Tauren. Hamuul survived, and sent a letter to Cairne. Cairne was enraged, knowing that the Druid circle was to prevent a war with the Kal'dorei over a group of dead sentinels delivering important hides to another settlement... So he challenges Garrosh to a Duel to the Death to try to claim the Horde until Thrall (Con.)

Cairne was winning until Garrosh got his strike in, and weakened Cairne until he couldn't walk. Garrosh hit his Neck afterwards... Garrosh knew nothing of the poisoning. (If he did, he'd call it off.) And that left Magetha free to take over Thunderbluff and major Tauren settlements. It was a slaughter

"The shattering" resecently came out and in there cairne challenges garrosh, cairne starts kicking his ass garrosh breaks cairnes weapons with one of his attacks and gets a flash wound on cairne BUT not at all fatal but carine dies they later find out that magatha put a deadly poision on garrosh newly girted "Gorehowl" (Grom hellscreams axe fyi). then magatha takes over TB and all the tauren citys but sun rock retreat and then baine takes back control of TB after a battle.

@cbfd234 That is incorrect . Online it says that he is scraped but the blade which paralyzes him because of poison put on the blade buy some one doing a blessing ritual. Then as he realizes he is paralyzed Gorrosh delivers the final KILLING blow. Gorrosh killed Cairne not knowing he was paralyzed.

The only thing about garrosh I think is cool is that he pushed a lot. That he did a lot of work in catacalysm, thrall was a better leader imo, but he's helping with the earthen ring. I know what happens, Garrosh finds out that there will be an assassination attempt on Cairne, so he travels to Thunderbluff to save him. In order to do so, he challenges him to a dual outside, but Cairne has already been poisoned with a slow acting poison, so he dies after Garrosh defeats him, and everyone thinks it was Garrosh who killed him
