  • perfect kickstarting technique nice bike --anybody wishing to learn the kickstarting technique should study this video --

  • Can't begin to tell ya how beautiful that Norton is. Great sound and beauty as well as a stone hard motor make all the difference in the world.

  • nice boots santa claus

  • Great bike. Almost bought one about 25 years ago. Was an early 70's Commando 750. And love your centerstand. Don't make 'em like that anymore. Classic sound

Just bought a new Bonneville. Maybe if I win the lotto I can get the new Nortom lol

  • New Bonnies are cool, hope you be fitting some loud pipes :-) Cheeers, Anth.

  • @828cc The T100 just had it's 500 mile service done today so some BC Sleepers may be in order. And I loved the vid so much,...I became a subscriber. Might be the beer!

  • Loud and proud! Cheers for the sub :-) Anth.

  • Nice outfit scooter....very cool look and bike

  • Cheers for that :-) Anth.

  • A beautiful classic!

A pity that the name Norton is no longer lights up!

  • Norton are back... there's supposed to be a new bike this year :-) Anth.

  • Hello all - I live in the states and I'm real close to buying one but I need a little help; I'm not averse to working on something but I've got no experience or tools. I've got some friends that could help me get started in that sense but my real concern is finding parts over here and the relative cost for those parts. I've got jack shit income but I'm looking at a running, good shape '72 at the moment for 4k. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

  • for gods sake do not buy a harley...they arew shit!!!

  • Well, I'd love to have a cafe'd out, 60's sportster but I don't have the cash for that.

  • id be carefull with taking them apart to fix took my dad 7 years with his

  • Thanks, that helps. I was thinking that here in the states it might be more difficult to find parts.

  • Spares are not a problem. I've just rebuilt my 850 Commando after owning it for 35 years. Spares today are readily available and relatively cheaper than they were back then. Quality though is generally poorer.

  • a real rocker with a rocking bike

  • Rolling along :-) Anth.

  • Check out this months G.Q magazine, great pic of Steve Mcqueen on a Norton,

  • Cheers, I'll have a look :-) Anth

  • nice bike. my dad was the first one in denmark to buy a norton comando 750. he got some speciel papers beside the normal papers on the bike he was the first one to get a 750 in denmark

  • Does he still have the bike? Anth :-)

  • he sold the bike 10 years ago.

  • I do love the interstate. In my humble opinion, the most beautiful bike ever built. The shape of the tank is a work of art. I went to Norton Owners Club rally once, there were about 20 interstates (mostly Mk.IIIs) lined up...a beautiful sight. I live in hope of owning one...someday. Scears is right, mechanically, they had some problems. Ahhhh, but, aesthectically, very difficult to find better.

  • They went wrong by making it an 850 which caused vibration which meant Isolastic mounts which ruined the handling. Cheers, Anth :-)

  • Yeah, you're right, Anth. It was that kind of engineering screw-up that was major factor in the death of the British motorcycle industry. Rather than designing a new engine, they just tried to dampen the vibration of the old one.

  • that's a beauty. i'm on to my third bike in less than 2 years. that bike is timeless.

  • Good one, cheers, Anth :-)

  • Thats a stunner.

  • Cheers :-)

  • I bought an Interstate in 1976 but when my best mate turned up on a brand new Kawasaki 900 a month later and allowed me to try it out I suddenly realised why the British motorcycle industry was doomed to failure. The Norton was basically and brand new "vintage bike". Kawasaki knew what they were doing. Sad but true...........

  • Quite agree, the Commando is a good bike but it was dated even when new, they do sound a lot better than a Z900 though :-)

  • My Dad used to build these in Wolverhampton in the 1970's.

    Great bike

  • Both my Commandos were built at Andover but my 1949 ES2 was Bracebridge Street :-)

  • possibly, no wait, definately the coolest bikes ever. i'm getting one!

  • Make sure it's a black one :->

  • I had an identical bike - my pride and joy was beautiful! Then I sold it to get married & now I'm divorced. Yes! You have my permission to kick me up the a**!!!

  • Aw mate you deserve a kick up the arse and a slap on the back and a cold pint if I ever meet you in a pub

  • Refreshing to see a classic Brit started without tottering on the centerstand. Proper form.

  • Cheers, it's good when they go first kick :-) Anth.

  • First kick after tickle/priming kick. (That doesn't count :) )

  • I could of been lazy and used the electric start, it actually works on this one :>)

  • Im a roller too baby

  • I'm a rocker!!! Anth :-)

  • Seriously gorgeous. And I love the period-perfect dress.

  • Cheers, that jacket was bought new by my dad in 1975 :-)

  • that is seriously pretty

  • Cheers :-)

  • my dad have a norton commando. mint condision. he bught it new when he was young. don`t know what mod, looks like yours but more road racing style handelbars.

  • Left hand shift... bah!

    :-)

  • The Mark 3 shown in the video had a right hand shift. All the others were upside down left handers.

  • Nice bike... Shifter's on the wrong side though... ;-)

  • Nope, shift's on the L. Modernization don'cha know

  • beautiful

  • omg ...

i'd kill to have a bike like this

  • Richard doesn't even ride it now, prefers his Firestorm :-) Anth.

  • Anth, How true. Can anyone out there help me out with a repro seat for my 74 Mk11 850 Roadster? The ebay guys from the UK want $60USD to ship to New York!

  • Till I had children the sound of my Commando was the sweetest sound in the world!!!

  • Nortons don't wake you up at 3am :-) Anth.

  • fucking great motorcycle

  • Cheers, check out 'Anth's Commando' and 'Linda's Commando' for some more :-) Anth.

  • Nice! Black & Gold is Beautiful, esp on Commando Interstate. Dug the music. sounds like Thin Lizzy.

  • You got the group right, track is called 'The Rocker' :-) Anth.

  • one of the nicest looking bikes ever, along with the Vincent and some other retros

  • Cheers, have you seen Linda's Norton yet? Anth :-)

  • Very nice machine!

  • Cheers :-) Anth.

  • 74 commando fastest production bike and one of the most beautiful to look at.

  • Don`t get me wrong buddy, I`m in to european classic bikes, and don`t like japanese crap, but talkin about speed, have you heard about Hayabusa? :-)

  • suzuki?

  • Yap... Runs well over 300 kmh...

  • I guess he refers to 1974. Back then she was maybe the fastest.

  • Thanks for posting this! I prefer just the music from the Noggin, louder! LOUDER!!!!

I had the 750, which I gas flowed etc etc.

HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOEEEEEEEEEEEEE. It cost too much in washing powder!! The 850 had plenty of GRUNT, but the early 750s with 11:1 comp, gas flowed heads and 30mm carbs (Mmmm, smaller is better with 750s) really fly off the lights. Cheers! Brylcreem, anybody?

  • Cheers, I run my bikes on Castrol R and Brylcreem, smells lovely :-) Biggest problem with the 850 is the vibes but they do go well. Anth.

  • YEEEEEEEEEEEHHHAAAAAAA! Castrol R. Nature's way of telling you that life IS worth living!

Vibes...don't remind me. I used to do car bodywork as well as ride British bikes - so I developed white finger. Now all I can ride is a Bm K75. To be fair, I can ride that 200 miles at a stretch, even in winter. I could never do that on the proper bikes! By the way, do you get a weave at around 40/80, or 45/90? If so, reduce the front tyre pressure by about 8 PSI. It took me years to discover that!

  • I run my tyres at 26/28 PSI, you can feel the swing arm move a bit on the Isolastic but it goes round corners luverly :-)

  • Yes....they are certainly smooth on the bends! Vernier, I assume? You know Castrol R (castor oil) is a very good rubber lube? If you lube the washers you can nip it up a bit, and everything is a bit better. Y'know, I can'y remember me own name sometimes, but I can remember all the old Commando wrinkles!! Cheers, Chris.

  • Good talking to you, ride on! Anth :-)

  • Hace 30 años tuve una Norton igualita a esta.

Era mas rapida que las japonesas de 4 cilindros, pero no mas que la Kawasaki mach 3 de tres cilindros y 2 tiempos.

  • Thats bad ass son.

  • Seriously nice bike, sounds like a Norton should; & I like the rocker garb too.

  • Cheers, the jacket was my dad's when he used to ride. Anth :-)

  • nearly look like lawrence of arabia there lol cool condition bike

  • Dude Nice bike and nice video!!

  • Cheers bud!
