wow the lyrics, what happened to the past few generations that there is no thinking like the way that Waylon and Jessi both done, they just did not make it
I often wonder what songs ol Hoss has written while sitting beside God. If he was as great an artist here on Earth, imagine what he is like now! Looking forward to when we can all meet up yonder........and keeping in True Outlaw way ,only sons of bitches I care about in this world now do I look forward to seeing up yonder.
Just bought Waylon Jennings Nashville Rebel DVD and I love it this is one of my favorites and waymore's blues... and long as I'm living everyone I know will still be listening to the really country music Because waylon will be on the T.V. and the radio!! We miss ya Hoss
god this song is the truth after eleven years of goin through everything we went through you don't think i love you,,,makes no good damn sense to me!!!
Who really cares who sang what better then who! A great song sung by a great artist..."it don't matter anyway"....it's how ya FEEL it brothers and sisters. Not who does it better.
Great clip! Waylon was the best musical artist in the world from about 1972 through 1976 or so (IMO). His "Waylon Live" album may be the best live album ever. I cried the day I heard that he died. He represented (in a way) a particular time in my life, and it was hard to believe so much time had passed and he was gone. I've heard him say that this was his favorite Willie song.
One of my many favs of Waylon (well, that's an understatement!)! Also sung it once myself, and I'm putting it on my next record too! Love these takes of Waylon -he was in his rockin, rowdy prime and made a bunch of great LP's those years!! Got em all!!! Any Waylonfan is welcome to join my sites -Hoss Curtis -put in a real dot and C and paste; reverbnation(dot)kom/play_now/song_534545
This is how i will always remember Waylon at his peak, When I get all wraped up in some Waylon music i dont even remember he isnt here with us no more.

I prefer willie's version of this song, no disrespect to waylon... he is just so much better at rocking country. Willie is better at the crying songs.
about the comment about waylon singing this better then willie .. waylon sang better then everyone.. nice vid.. looks like ol hoss might have been up for a day or too in this one.. thks for posting
Well, Jones can't hit the low notes like Waylon and Hag can't hit the high... IMHO Waylon was a better singer than both of them put together, plus he had that rare mega charisma that made everything he did a little sweeter.
It's funny you said what you did becasue Jones is known for going very deep quite a bit almost to a bass, Example (We didn't see a thing, Beer Run, and Haggard is known for singing an octive higher on his Bakerfields sound style.
Which charisma of Waylon are you speaing of?
The long hair, untrimed beard, and sweat was far from charaismatic.
Point taken, but I still think Waylon had a wider vocal range. As for the charisma factor, it came thru no matter the time frame, and the look you mention sure caught (and held) the attention of women - from young girls right up to older women. But it's a matter of personal taste - and my choice was and still is Waylon hands down.
@swainrich Disagree with comment "everyone has personal preferences". Have listened passionately to country for over sixty years and heard them all. Favorites have changed over the years but now it is solid for me. 4 kings up their with country crowns on. All different styles but can't honestly say which is better because I love all four. Call them the "FOUR MUSICATEERS", well it works for the three muskateers??? For me it is Hank Sr, George Jones, Waylon, and Keith Whitley. All Awesome.
@fishslicer3 Agreed, Waylon has the best country voice of all time. George Jones is second. Rolling Stone's list of best voices included Willie's but not Waylon's. Unfortunately pop culture only knows WJ as the guy that narrated and and sang the theme for the Dukes of Hazzard.
Wow thanks..one of my faworit songs,,from my favorit. Greate to see all those videoes,,never saw them before. I have a DVD from 1978 Renegade Outlaw Legend. This should also be on DVD

it their own way.

You can't compare Willie and Waylon. They were brothers and each had his own style. Just ask Willie.

The only reason I perfer Willie's is becasue he wrote it.
there is a certain something extra I feel when I know the singer is the composer.
Waylon was great but he certainly did not sing better than George Jones or Merle Hagggard in their prime.
