Actually this is the version that was played on radio back in the day..I heard the " original " version and was thinking to myself that someone must have muted the accompanying tracks, then i hear this one and its what i remember..Of course they always chopped off the little reprise at the end like the always will at the radio station but yeah this is the one that got the airtime
This song was played at my grandma's funeral viewing. She enjoyed this song and it also explains how she died in the ICU. "I belive you can get me through the night" and "I believe we can reach the morning light" Reminds me of how she died at exactly 7:22 pm on February 2nd, 2011. I was very close to her and I loved her so much! Seeing her die was the last thing I ever wanted to to. I spoke to her before she died and I just couldn't finish my words without breaking down. I miss you Maw Maw! 143!
i understand that gary originally had this as a folk song. his producer(?) convinced him to turn it into a dreamy rock song. would love to hear the real original just out of curiousity. love both versions. thanx 4 posting.
I've loved this song for so long, that my on-line persona has a power based on it, literally called Dream Weaving. I never knew there was a second version of this song, until a local radio station started playing it, a month or so, back. I really love the way the lyrics echo, at points, it just makes it sound that much more cosmic!
@oLdSkOoLkisS Ok first of all, no idiot F'ed this up, it was Gary Wright who changed it for the Movie Wayne's World... so go lick a tick and get off Didgeinator's back.
This version I found in a download, I did not touch it in any way possible. Don't call me an idiot just because I posted something alternative to what you're used to. If you don't like it, just go back to the original, and leave it be.
I grew up with the original version and prefer it. But, the drums in the chorus is way more crisp and clear. I wish they'd been that crisp in the original version!
I grew up to this version. I think because of that, I prefer this one to the original. Yes, the original is a good song... but this one just seemed more... relaxing to me, despite the extra drumbs and more up-beat tempo.
My mom doesn't seem to realize this version is different fromt he original though :p
@HinoteTwintailCat what are drumbs?..and do you have to play them with your thumbs lol just kidding sorry i just couldn't resist that one ..I have been reading a lot of comments today and it has brought the asshole in me to the forefront..with all the jerks and their complaining lol
I can't find any songs that I use to be able to find on here. Fucking corporations are killing music. I think they figured out that we can download them from here...tee hee.
before they made all these funky changes to youtube you could pind anything, now I can't find good music or what I want anymore on here, it's comes up with like two things of nothing I want.
Yeah. These people better leave youtube alone. Really, If i couldn't find the music on CD, I would listen to it on youtube. now all i ever see is just this live crap. Either live or disabled.
Not a bad version but the original is still way better and good luck trying to find it on youtube because it just is not on here anymore. Bastards are cracking down.
Been there, done that pal. I have the original song too, but it's already been posted, at least last time I looked.
You're right too, bloody copyrighting fuckers are just ruining what's left of this once great site. Here's hoping that they get their common sense one day.
This is ok, I don't care much for the drum machine feel to the rhythm track. Sounds like he used some of the original sound effects tracks on this one too.
The original has the advantage of being the authentic feel of what he was trying to capture when he wrote it. I've only heard one live version that came close to improving on the original, but it's not available anywhere. I'm pretty sure it was on Don Kirchner's Rock Concert in 1977.
k agree there is a slight amount of change but i dont see where its a great deal of change can anyone pin point a point and time in it where theres a great amount :D plz and thanks :D
None taken. But my best advice would be to get both of the songs and listen to one, then the other. You will notice a difference. Very minor ones no doubt, but still different. Just gotta be observant.
I don't think so. The original, while the same song, had a different sound to it. It also didn't feature the soft piece during the last 30 seconds. Look it up, you might find something different. That's all I can tell you. Have a good one.
