  • very nice i hope to get my 85 down in to the 11 soon the hell with all the haters stock turbo botom end take a beating from hell before coming apart

  • very cool in deed! love seeing these turbo rangers.

  • I've never heard of a 19 year old college grad lol eat Shit kid

  • Hahaha poor truck with that v8 thought he had it easy...long live the 2.3 lol

  • Thats god damn hot, nice work. Mind my asking what is the setup to run that mph?

  • Hahaha. Fuck a small block Chevy. . . A 4 banger Ranger just spanked that piece of shit, bow tie wearing ASSSSSS! And fuck a S-10. They all are fucking garbage. Wouldn't own that square body piece of shit if they paid me to take it. Nice run bro!

  • padiddle

  • What were the mods done? I want to get my Turbo Coupe in the mid 13s.

  • My friend, excellent. Im doing the same thing to my 91 ranger 2.3L. Could you give me some tips on your setup?

  • nice!!!!!! good run!

  • your 350 powered S10 got beat by a 4 cylinder Ranger. have a good day :)

  • Nice, That ranger looks pritty light

  • 11 seconds in a 2.3 cheaper and faster .. take that 5.0 's

  • wow sweet ride dude forget about all the other stupid guys that are saying its not a 2.3 or whatever they say you're hiding something.

how much horsepower does it have at the wheels? around 350?

nice little ride pal I can't wait to get my b2300 workin at 25 psi+ =)

  • LOL at all these doubters....where was the block sourced? what turbo and mods have you done?

  • I'd like to know where the sound was copied from, or if you got your videos mixed up when uploading? I didn't hear a 4 cylinder anywhere..

  • @ZeroHour064 ...because it's a 4 cylinder with a turbo and full exhaust, It's QUIET! ..especially next to an open header SBC. Listen closer it's there..

One more dumb comment and I'm blocking them altogether, this is getting old very quick.

  • @brooksys I'm with ERietdyk on this. We're supposed to believe that this 'quiet' little Danger Ranger with a stock block is getting enough boost to leave that SBC? Don't get me wrong, I'll be the first one to say Rangers rule and S10s drool, but this I'm not buyin...

  • @brooksys

I heard the crazy 4 cylinder! some people are just noobs...... lol

  • @brooksys yeah, who the hell is going to hear a 4 cyl. over a sbc with open headers from that far away.

  • @brooksys Hey bro I am wondering if this was just a regular 2.3l I have a 1989 2.3l single cab 6 foot bed I want to turbo its clean as hell too I was thinking about finding a SVO turbo i have a computer that is for the stock turbo on a SVO too you are running a 11 will I have to reinforce my frame? any help would be gladly appreciated I am kind of new to small motors!

  • I call bullshit on the stock short block & stock transmission.

A stock T5 can only handle, at max, 300ft lbs.

A stock 2.3L Ranger short block, no matter how hard you believe, can not make 300ft lbs.

A 3000lb vehicle cannot be put into the 11's with out having more power than what a stock T5 could handle.

    Example: 2010 Mustang GT. 3500lbs, 315hp, pulls 13.5s in the 1/4.

I give you 5 tenth's for the weight, so that puts you at 13 flat at the same horsepower. What are you hiding?

  • @TPena92 I wasn't wrong in the slightest until brooksys explained it to me further. The video comment implied that the Ranger was using it's stock 2.3L Block, and stock T5 transmission, not an SVO or TurboCoupe drivetrain.

The block supports the power, but you've gotta get it to the driveshaft somehow, and that's where the transmission comes into play. If this were using a stock Ranger transmission, it'd shred it into next week.

Also, power isn't in the fuel, timing is.

  • Comment removed

  • @TPena92 I know about the Ford 2.3L Turbo, but I ask you to read the video description again. It states that it was the stock shortblock, stock T5, and stock diff. Now, how was I supposed to know that it was the stock drivetrain out of a turbocoupe, when the same engine and transmission came in the Ranger? Obviously, that's the reason that I asked the question in the first place before you spouted off.

Seriously, take a downer. You're acting like you know everything when you don't.

  • @TPena92 Good job making an assumption and it being right. Like I said, when someone owns a late 80's early 90's Ranger, and states that they used the stock shortblock, stock transmission, and stock axle for performance, especially bringing it to 11 flat, you're going to ask questions, which is what I did.

I find it amusing that a keyboard warrior is attempting to fight with me over something so trivial. Get out of high school, then you can talk.

  • Comment removed

  • @TPena92 If you made it past high school, I'm surprised, and also disgusted with your states education system. Maybe people would like you if you were civil, and didn't attempt to make everything one-sided while clearly losing. I'll continue posting as long as required for you to figure out that you're an asshat.

  • Comment removed

  • @TPena92 I'm arguing simply because it amuses me. I never got offended, you just insulted someone without knowing the full story. I invite you to read the entire conversation yourself before stating that I'm the one who started all this. Just because you own a vehicle, doesn't make you an expert on it. I've owned several vehicles over the years, and never been an expert on one of them. I'm not bashing the 2.3L Turbo, I'm bashing you, simply because you believe you know everything.

  • Comment removed

  • @TPena92 You're an 18 year old that thinks installing cold air intakes and catback exhaust systems makes you an expert. You've got a bone stock Merkur XR4Ti 2.3L Turbo, with a Cold Air Intake and an Exhaust, and because of that, you think that you're an expert. If that were true, I'd be an expert on Escorts, Rangers, Mustangs, Dakotas, Vanduras, CB500's, etc... yet I'm not.

Get your shit together before you believe you know everything about a vehicle, because right now, you don't.

  • @TPena92 Post video's of my car? I've got a few up, but not on my account. It's nothing really, just a 1990 Dodge Dakota with a 318 swap, but at least I can admit that it's nothing special, unlike you with your car.

For your information, I'm 19, but again, at least I can admit that. I'm a College Graduate with a Full Time Job. Again, something you don't have.

I'm not implying in any way that I'm upset over this, so why you believe that is beyond me.

  • Comment removed

  • @TPena92 I find it amusing that you're grabbing at strings because you know you've lost the initial argument.

But saying that you built your car not bought it? You've done nothing to your car that requires pulling powertrain. I took the 3.9L the truck did have, and gave it a 5.2L for a little more power. It's also got a Detroit Locker in the stock 8.25" for a little more grip. Again, nothing special, but decently fun.

Then there's you. You've got a bone stock SVO. Congratulations.

  • @TPena92 Not bullshitting in the slightest. I work at a factory. It's not a great job, but it's a great paying job.

Also, what have us Canadian's done? We've only built the best American Car ever made, the Ford Crown Victoria.

Also, I never said my Dakota was fast, but it's still fun to drive. I'd rather hear a V8 and pay out the ass for it, then hear a bumblebee.

  • @TPena92 Engine Mechanical Systems, Power Train Systems, Fuel & Emission Systems, Vehicle Control Systems, Electrical Systems, Technical Practices & Auxiliary Systems, Marketing Principals, Management, Energy Vehicle Systems, and Vehicle Dynamics. Those don't exactly sound like no credit courses to me at some buttfuck no where College to me.

Also, I'm not bragging about graduating, I'm stating that you simply don't know what you're talking about due to my level of education over yours.

  • @TPena92 Can't even drink yet? I'm in Canada. Have fun living in the US of A. Also, Mr. Lube isn't a shop.

  • Comment removed

  • @TPena92 Living above your means isn't exactly living. Live below your means, and maybe you'd actually be able to afford all those performance parts for your Merkur, if it is in fact yours, that you claimed to have purchased and installed.

Since you claim to be 24, I'll go off that. If you are that age, I'm already 5 years + ahead of you. Guess what I was getting paid today? $46.14 an hour. While it may only be a job, it certainly is a good, steady one.

    Enjoy your debt.

  • @TPena92 Looking at all your youtube comments, I'd have to say that you're just attempting to be a little shit stirrer.

Apparently, you think that 4 cylinder engines are the best configuration of engines. Listen, I know you don't know a whole lot about cars, but 8 cylinder engines are the best configuration. There is a power stroke happening at all degrees of rotation, and they're not wasting fuel trying to be smoother, like 10 cylinder, 12 cylinder, and 16 cylinder engines.

  • @TPena92 Although there is TECHNICALLY a power stroke occurring at all degrees of rotation in a 4 cylinder, that particular stroke is only actually making enough power to overcome frictional loss for about 100 degrees of rotation, meaning that all 4 cylinder engines have about 320 degrees per cycle where they are losing power, not gaining it. In a V8, even with only 100 degrees of rotation, they have 80 degrees per cycle to spare. Anything past that is just for added smoothness.

  • @TPena92 I have A Certificate in Motive Power, a Diploma in Motive Power Technology, an Ozone Depletion Prevention Certificate, and an Ontario Drive Clean Certificate. Just because people have certificates, doesn't mean they can get an apprenticeship, especially when I graduated.

    $46.14CAD is ~$46USD, so no, I don't make $50USD an hour, but I do make $46USD.

Most 4 cylinders sound like bumblebees because most 4 cylinders are straight 4's, not flat 4's. Flat 4's at least have a rumble.

  • Comment removed

  • @TPena92 Made up certificates? And you call me a child. Also, It's not all about the sound, but I'd rather enjoy what I drive then feel embarrassed about it, which is why I choose something with a V8 over an I4. The bonus's come along with it when you realize how much performance potential something with twice the cylinders has.

Every I4 guy's comeback is "Well, I'll put a turbo on it." Know what happens when you do that to a V8? Twice the performance potential as the I4.

  • @ERietdyk ya until you realize the block is going to go "BYE BYE" and then it cost you double the amount to build the block to withstand boost. You talk like everybody has the money to turbo a V8 properly with the supporting mods...If it was that easy then everybody would do it, but instead everybody would rather turbo a 4banger or buy a brand new EVO/STi turn the boost up, get a tune, exhaust, more fuel, and have nearly 400WHP in a light AWD vehicle...

  • @TPena92 For example this guy with the ranger probably spent less to run 11's then somebody trying to build a V8 engine to withstand boost.. 8 Forged pistons/8rods/bigger valves with stiffer valve springs/bigger fuel injectors with high flow fuel pump which then includes piggyback systems or stand alone systems/ a whole new exhaust system with the manifold/ intake manifold ment to flow to the correct CFMs of the turbo....see where im getting? theres a lot more to do then what i listed..lol

  • Comment removed

  • @ERietdyk add all that up and you looking over 2000$ for the internals only, then engine management systems over 1000$, whole new exhaust including turbo/ another 1000$, lol im done responding to you...i know your going to send me another comment just so you can get the last word. And then im not even going to read it. then im deleting all my comments because im embarrassed to be arguing with such a fucking stupid19y/o kid with NO turbo'd car whatsoever with made up certificates

  • @TPena92 First off, I doubt you'll stop responding. Second, fuel management system? Never heard of a carburetor, have you? I can get a centrifugal supercharger system for a carbureted V8, and almost double its stock power, with no other modifications. Feel like going bigger? Forged internals, and a better valvetrain. That's only a few thousand more. Betcha any money that a supercharged 5.0L Ranger would take this Turbo'd 2.3L.

  • @ERietdyk and stop throwing in your comments if you dont own a FORD 2.3 turbo since i know way more about them and what there capable of unlike you...go look up some honda videos and bash on them not us

  • thats fuckin amazing.

  • does anyone know a good place to get turbo kits, cams, forged pistons ect. i have a 2.3 i am in the process of rebuilding but cannot find everything i need. any help would be greatly appreciated

  • what cam are you using if you don't mind.

  • Elevenohthirtyseven! Boy that thing sure leaves hard, can't wait to see updated times Mark! Cya on TF..

  • Hey Mark this is Bill! Badass truck!

  • Haha, nice, beat the tar out of the other guy who was making 4x the noise.

  • niiice what ECU are you running?

  • Damn dude! what is done to that ? Is that the turbo charged 2.3L out of a Mustang or THunderbird Turbo coupe? What else is done to that truck? Thats a bad lil truck. i have a 84 I have been debating on dropping a turbo 4Cyl or a V8 in but havnt made up my mind, After watching this video im really starting to think about a turbo charged 4 cyl.

  • you can get a shorter swing crank and balanced internals that drop it to 8.2:1 Compression, a T4 Turbo, Machined heads and High Pressure injectors. Kevlar Clutch and stock trans stock 4:10 ratio and you would be surprised the times youll run ive seen first hand a 2.3 Motor put out near 500HP on all boost

  • @Hotarihanzo That's a 2.3L built up though, where brooksys lists his as a 'stock' block.
