  • amazing they run it so well... just goes to show you 3dfx made some quality hardware back in the day..

  • I wanna see battlefield 3 on voodoo 2 sli ;)

  • try DOOM 3. its also a very fun game (and a bit scary one maybe)

  • @Mitko54682DS i know that one runs just fine. Just need an USB capture card and then im planning on an entire walktrough with the voodoos powering it.

  • @37474748 doom 3 walktrough or fear walktru?

if you like scary games i would suggest try silent hill 2

  • @Mitko54682DS doom 3 i was thinking dont know yet.

  • @thelcd you don't know how the voodoo cards work I think.

  • my GTX 580's crush that lmao

  • @obiwankenobi28 XD my hd 6990's will crush that

  • @justinjacobe if its score we are talking. an friend has the asus 6990 and i have the nvidia 295's in quad sli. i still win. And with an good amount of points to spare in 3d mark vantage.

  • 2-Way 3Dx Voodoo2 PCI 8MB SLI hehe and that running F.E.A.R., hmm interesting, did you use anything else to emulate T&L and such?

  • My voodoo slee! haha

  • voodoo is more than quite old, it was lightyears ahead of its competitors in the late 90's.

  • @ttolmbrftttwtbopat i totally agree... i think voodoo is awesome! :) Still use them every day in my work pc. Even has photoshop on it rendering with the voodoos just because i can :D

  • @37474748 Good for you. That means that you are just enjoying the awesome picture sharpness that Voodoo2 offers, especially on higher resolutions. Dont forget to activate the special Mike's Photoshop Glide wrapper v2.71, it will literally blow you away with its rendering performance! Oh, for best results, remove all other video cards (to remove interference), and then use one voodoo as a frame buffer and the other as a T-Buffer replacement.

  • @elfuegooo will try man will try :D

  • Voodoo SLeee?

  • if i can buy a new gma 4500HD chipset i would happily give you my gma 950.

Hell of a lot faster than the voodoo and it has 900 Vram and 2GB ram

But i have to get money to buy it :(

  • @monkeynade126 you totally dont get the idea of this vid,do you?

  • @govedar4o at least someone understand the value of the good ole 3dfx :D cheers mate! :D

  • Can I run this game in a 3dfx Voodoo 4 PCI, Pentium 3 1GHz, and 640MB of RAM?

  • @mateuscampagnol i dont have that card so i dont know but the voodoo 4 should be allot faster then the voodoo 2's so i would say yes with the right drivers!

  • Hey man its me I was the one who sent you a few pictures from my 3dfx collection. Hey you should tell me what modded drivers you use for XP. Im getting a dell power edge with 2 2.8ghz xeon processors and i want to make a voodoo2 SLI setup like yours cause voodoo2 has been my favorite video card since i was like 11 or 12 and im almost 25 :)

  • How do you play game when it requires PS 2.0 as far as i remember...? voodoo has them or what? -.-

  • @axa993 by running the modified drivers that allows me to turn off and emulate some features to trick the game into running on the cards. Allot like emulated 3dfx drivers but i do it the other way.

  • @37474748 oh, nice... btw, man, i love these cards :D

  • @axa993 me to man... :) will do more videos of those ones i get my new hd camcorder phone. its called an iphone 4 but i perfer to call it sexy black thang :P

  • @37474748 hahaha nice one :D

keep up the good work, i'm personally more impressed by this than new gtx480 :P

  • @axa993 i hear you mate :) if 3DFX would release an new card.... i would buy it the day it came out no mather if i would sell my soul lol :P

  • @37474748 too bad that nvidia bought 3dfx xD

  • @axa993 yeah nvidia basicly made 3dfx suck balls :P if nvidia reads this they need to get there mojo going again and put 3dfx back to life :)

  • @axa993 why? i think its good they buyd also agaia and cant wait till they buy ati hahah

  • @club4ghz if 3dfx would have been still an separate company they would have gotten so much further in graphics then we are now. 3dfx engineers knew how to pull things off and do it well. Like this performance from an 1997 card. And back in that days SLI without no hardware requirements of the motherboard. That is for me stunning. Nvidia basically took some functions and killed the other good ones.

  • @club4ghz ati was bought by amd in 2006 already, so what you say is wrong, but it may be the other way around, because amd still has the fastest single card in the world.

  • a WOODOO

  • Most of the excitement came from being able to play all of those 3DFX only games, which I couldn't play with my old card. The demos I went through, man. My room is full of those PC gamer/Accelerator/etc mag discs.

  • This game is very sentimental for me, because I got my second graphics card with it, on Christmas of 2005.

  • @wmotamedi03 sweet man sweet!!!! what card was it?

  • @37474748

It was in the ATI Radeon 2800 or 2600... I don't quite remember. But it still pales in comparison to my memories of Voodoo 3DFX. ;) You could not peel me off of Tribes after it was installed. Great video!

  • You already admited you used a geforce 3, therefore you should change the video description which says geforce 2. Nice work by the way.

Now i would love to see the same test with some other card than nvidia or ati to render 2D !

  • @rick62008 nope i was running modified drivers like ive said like 1000times on this computer. And it was the same drivers here. Not the gforce3 that was doing the rendering but the voodoo 2 sli that did the rendering.

  • @37474748 You didn't got my point. I wasn't saying what others said that it was the geforce 3 running the game and that this was fake etc.

What i meant was that i would like to see some other older card doing the 2D part.

I know that the voodoo2 was doing the rendering work, but it was doing the 3D rendering only because that's what it can do, 3D only! I would like to see it cooping with an older card when it comes to the 2D rendering part and see how the game would work. Ex: Riva TNT!

    Cheers.

  • @rick62008 might try that if i can find an card ive sold the most part of the cards :) but ill look for one :)

    cheers man! :)

  • wow is realy a voodoo card??? hard to believe hauhsuhsuduhuhu

  • I can't run it on 82855 GME! Well, I can kind of run it with the help of SwiftShader, but it's like 0.5 frames per second, barely playable.

  • @YoutuJ3eJ3lows well i think you need to buy an system like the one i got :)

  • Nice nice I was use before 3dfx 3500 agp and work fine for 6 year. Glide run better than Dx3d

  • agreed man agreed :D

  • que viva 3dfx!!

  • why isn't the 3dfx logo showing at the start of these games?

  • only shows up on glide games not on opengl and d3d games.

  • haha that's right, forgot about that, thanks... how do you enable it to run on the voodooIIs? i have a pair too, but it wants to use my gf9600gt

  • you need to modify the drivers to allow it to run d3d and open gl. you also need to disable the 9600gt

  • oh you have to play shattered horizon on this awesome rig

  • can you mail me an link to where to get it?

  • when will you post gta 4?

  • if and when someone gets me an copy :)

  • ahhh good times voodoo 2 was the shit back in the day I miss 3DFX I still have my voodoo 2 cards somewhere although ive not used them for a years. Do you ever share the driver sets you create?

  • yeah man gotta love the cards... yeah sometimes i share the drivers it depends what i get back :)

  • Voodoo 2 was masterpiece!

  • cant agree with you more :)

  • Voodoo slee ftw!...

  • deff man deff :D

  • eh..i had 3 3Dfx graphics card..yeah its amazing..on a voodoo 3..i cant do to play gta 3..becouse it dont support nothing..but in some way i played with 3Dfx Voodoo 3 3000 the awsome hitman 2

  • the support is there but the voodoo 2 is faster then the voodoo 3 you just gotta figure it out how to make it reality :D

  • yeah..some overclocking.Fake some drivers xD and make it works yeah. When i tried to make Gta 3 work i was 8..If i try again..i try to tweak the game and the graphic :D

  • of couse at 8years you know everything about computer. Im sure you even know how to script drivers at 8years of age. FAIL!

  • No at the age of 8 no..but now yeah :D for me the best i can do is split the data rar cab files and write on autorun what to instal..i looked one exemple of others game..and i make it one for far cry

Fail ! xD peapol are more funnier then me and my english.you even dont know me

  • if you have not got more skills then that behind if your keyboard your not gonna get it run like mine does. Im running custom drivers. Not available online. So... Yeah... If you cant program stuff how could you make drivers? And how do you dear to say its fake. You know... you should at last know JAVA and C++ and C programming before you say something like that!

  • Go fuck your self..how can i talk with a fucking man with his own ego..Picka ti materna kaj mislis da jaz lahko pisem anglescino in ti vse kurac razlozim..Ma faco bi ti sesu

hoj se jebat..jaz sem se obadau stem se preden si biu v kinder jajcku

  • haha you fail at English to man!

  • amm..yeah..you even dont now what i wrote after english

    go overclock your self yeah..

  • i guess someone will inform me. then i can go and abuse you to youtube comunity becouse i guess its something nasty.

  • its easy to register again

    go fuck your self

  • thanks you to!

  • ok i have most of these things and the fact is i have 4 voodoo 2 cards in stock i just had them and never sold them since its good memories so i will build a rig and try this out for my self because i made a server sometime ago and it has one voodoo 2 i used it to trick the game to think there was a 3d card just to get to the menu and make a Multi-player Game i think it was C & C so we could get

  • i seen the Nvidia Gefore3 in device manager in the video and because you not using Glide 3dfx i think you would be using direct3D therefore i believe that the Geforce3 would be running the show i could be wrong but thats what i seen in the video i have 4 voodoo 2 cards in my collecting so i will try my self but i just ask because i see the Geforce 3 card. one more thing are the voodoo 2 in a PCI-X slot and if they are what speed is the PCI-X please people do not get confused with PCI-E and PCI-X

  • gf3 is there to power the 2D graphics such as desktop windows Internet explorer and video for the tv tuner. The voodoos run the Glide openGL and direct3D

they are inserted in the pci 64bit slots! i use modified drivers to allow rendering for openGL and D3D on the voodoos!

  • Dedicate a Server for it as there is no Dedicated Server exe and as i remember it did work enough to trick the game but the menu was very slow ect. this was in a

  • Xeon System as well but her clock was 2.66Ghz on 800FSB with 2GB DDR ram yes people i know that sound small but this was some years ago plus i had one massive Raid ARRAY of SCSI Hard drives about 20 of them in Raid 0 give me some time could you send me these Drives as we would have same version or just send me a link to these drivers that is same version as yours.

  • thats also because you have a primary GFX Card that is a Geforce 3 but still not even that card should be able to run it what is your proc and Ram ect?

  • its running of the voodoos the cpu is intel xeon 1.7ghz x2 then 768mb or 512mb at the time of this video.

  • did have this video card pixel shader suport?

  • i cant really remember... it was to far back in time to remember...

  • Wow, I'm surprised it ran that well. That's pretty damn amazing.

  • yeah its the power of voodoo :)

  • Still got my Voodoo3 3000. Never letting go of that--it's a peice of computer history.

  • oh yeah man.... voodoos are grate :)

  • nice pic on the desktop... Chernobyl, isn't it? ;)

  • thank you... its from Pripyat overlooking Chernobyl :)

  • Yeah, that's pretty funny, I was going to ask if that was Pripyat, the nearest town to the Chernobyl plant...well, abandoned town.

  • yeah... im ganna go there next year :) in real life then :)

  • That's really cool. I want to go there, too. I believe you can also visit the plant as a tourist. Not sure I'd get too close to the #4 reactor that caused the whole meltdown thing, spewing radioactive particles in the air after the intense pressure blew off the multi-ton lid on top of the reactor after a run-a-way reaction (there was no actual explosion, contrary to what many belief...if there was one, that whole plant would be a hole in the ground, and it's not).

  • yeah i will sure go there and take an look :)

  • ow come on, this is madness *walks out slams door*

  • hehe i know the feeling man... :) voodoos are grate!!!

  • I played FF7 and FF8 for PC on my Voodoo2 some years ago and they worked fine, now I have a Geforce 6600 and both games refuse to run with hardware acceleration, they will only allow software rendering. I'm a great fan of FF series and want to play them on PC. Already tried my Voodoo2 but can't find driver for XP. Please let me know where to download the driver you use to run FEAR on Voodoo2. Thx.

  • the voodoo 2 driver i use is modified by and grate friend of mine. Its not released online i think. So that wont be an option. The best thing i think you can do is to use VMWARE to run it the newest version support dx rendering.

  • I've gone to VMWARE site and found this: "Experimental support for Direct3D applies only to Windows 2000 and Windows XP guests". If I use XP as guest OS, I'll have the same problem, no XP driver for Voodoo2. What I need is to use Windows 98 as guest, which has drivers for Voodoo2, but then VMWARE doesn't support D3D in the guest session. Please let me give you my msn so you can mail me the driver.

  • FF7 and 8 requres D3D i suppose. The vmware will emulate hardware. And use your existing graphics card to run the game. It will trick the virtual machine its an older hardware. There for run the game.

for running FF that seems to not requre to much why dont you go with an like gforce?

the only thing i can think of is the coolness factor of still useing 3dfx :)

send me an pm with your mail and ill send you my drivers.

  • The point is that no modern graphics card supports 8-bit textures required by the game, so it fallbacks to software rendering. Only 3dfx and some other very old chips supported them, but I gave or threw away all my old stuff when upgrading, I keep just my Voodoo2 for Glide games. VMWARE emulation won't do the trick because it doesn't support D3D in Win9x sessions, and XP session wouldn't make sense because the emulated device won't support 8-bit textures if the host device doesn't.

  • ahh i see now... im a bit slow... :) but... windows 98 should be able to use the voodoos full out. Also ME witch is somewhat newer but still 9x core.

  • I recommend just getting a old system on ebay for like $40 and put your Voodoo on it with Windows ME.

You can get a KVM to share one keyboard and one monitor between two computers.

  • Heh, very nice. I'm considering getting some newer Voodoos for the old Win98 boxes I have sitting around, although I couldn't afford to spend much on it.

I wonder if I couldn't run Mechwarrior II and the like happily on a Voodoo 5 5500 and at higher performance than SLI'd Voodoo 2s.

*looks at Radeon HD 4870x2 sitting on the shelf collecting dust* ...sigh :)

  • you might get better performence out of one voodoo 5 card. But on an computer with lots of cpu power it will be better with voodoo2

i got an 9800gx2 sitting on the shelf :) and two 7900gs cards also one 7800gt :)

  • Interesting.

Fun fact, I saw a new / boxed 3dfx VOODOO 5 5500 sell on eBay for $150...that's crazy since you can get a PCI (non-Express) Geforce 9400 GT 512MB for exactly half as much on Newegg. Then there's AGP cards.

The only thing is the drivers; doubtful nVidia made any for Win98. Same thing holds true for the Radeon HD 3850 (one of the fastest AGP cards).

  • i would go 3dfx sli with voodoo 2's for an nostalgic rig. Maybe an voodoo3 or something along those lines.

but i think i saw that card to on ebay... i was thinking of buying it :)

  • what driver did u use ?

ca u share the drivers ?

  • only to people who mail me with there msn.

  • It does run this game that's amazing 5/5

  • oh yeah... i was stunned when it ran that good...

    thank you man :)

  • how did you get this game work on voodoo 2? voodoos dont have shader model support and t&l.

  • im using tweaked drivers and tweaked config file for fear.

  • this guy is spot in in his guess :)

    FizzyWodawg

I think he used 3d analyze to turn of TnL, shaders and emulate a dx 9 card etc. ... my guess... Peace !

  • thats amazing, but i dont get it, voodoo running fear, my old nvidia 5500 probly wouldnt do it that good

  • yeah it is... the voodoos have awesome power. that's the true sli. it doubles the performance by letting one voodoo render one line then the other render the other line.

that means that each voodoo ran the test at 320x240 so you see each card does not render to high of an resolution. that is what brings the performances ahead. the other thing is that i got overkill ram and cpu for this pc :)

  • wow kinda cool that this old Voodoo 2

can run F.E.A.R it runs nicely and doesntl at all and teh graphics are kinda Nice to =)

  • yeah i have not expected that high frame rates... voodoo really was ahead of time :)

  • yeah i mean

ATi and Nvidea or not so ahead of time right now :S

    but voodoo was

    i wish they werent bankrupt

if they werent i wish they would create more ahead of tim GPU just like that one (voodoo 2)

  • today nvidia and ati are only limited by motherboard manufacturers. lets say your running dual gpu card from ati. Then u add 3cards more. that will give you some serious power. But as for nvidia they have not released any modern dual gpu card sens the 9800gx2 and that only lets you run sli with 2 9800gx2's total of quad sli. But give the user the opportunity to run four of those.. and two core i7 cpus. i say wow that would be an serious system today. but like voodoo series EXPENSIVE as hell.

  • yeah i mean i7 are just amazing

cant wait for the 8 core :P

but i mean i believe that voodoo was expensive

i mean look a GPU from 1999 runnig fear

fine i mean WOW just WOOOOW

  • yeah... i know what you are talking about... i dont think its the number of cores that are the factor today i think the bottle neck today is the motherboards that doesent support like 4way sli and stuff like that. they cold easily go with 4way sli. that would improve stuff alot

but im with you... its awesome how voodoos did run fear...

  • yeah imagine

    a 4 way ATi hd 4870x2 sli :P

    with a i7 :P

  • oh yeah... that would definitely rock my boat :)

  • yeah,

just one day it will be posible

    for allot of cash

  • yeah and then one day when its starting to get affordable by us deadly people we can buy one and look back at it and feel the nostagy :)

  • nah could be only worth two thousand bulks. voodoo 2 in that time were just cost as same as gtx 295 today at around $499. but having duel chip capability and also sli too (quad core!!) . and sigle cache version of voodoo 2 would cost less. but kinda reminds me they were attemp to do quad sli with voodoo 5 6000 but they were ultimately defeated by radeon 7500/8500 and geforce 2/3 in benchmarks. 16 chips fail against single cache is pretty horrible and that explain why they went bankrrupt.

  • you guys should all stayed tuned for my upcoming videos about the 3dfx cards, called Project Voodoo. it will feature my 3DFX VooDoo 5500 AGP card :D

  • sweet man! :) looking forwards to that :) get me some games then we can do an performance run off :)

  • c'mnon dudes, the man wouldn't make an fraud video and post it here just for fun. if you ever had any of the voodoo series you would understand him and his enthusiasm:)i believe him..maybe... just joking... again:)

  • hope you like my video... please enjoy :) its not a fraud vid nor is any of my other vids. why post fraud vids when you can actually post something real good? something true something that is thinking outside the box?

  • hey man nice im a big 3dfx fan and id realy like to see if you could even get the crysis demo to lunch on this rig im realy intrested to find owt if you would pls make a video of that and all sub :)

  • i can make it launch but it crashes due to lack of ram. i need an minimum of 1gb ram. i got 512mb ram installed now... if u can arrange some rams i could look into it :)

  • on 0:22 you can see GeForce3 Ti 200 :)))) nice scoop!!

  • dude get your facts strait... voodoo 2 and voodoo 1 does not handle 2d graphics... guess why i got an 3rd card. go read up and get facts strait before you say stupid stuff like this

  • My apologies for that comment, nice work, it is good to remember the old days where we all dreamt about having a actuall 3d card in our pc-s:) But ...there is no proof that the Gf3 is actually not used in your test... just joking dude:) Bye!

  • yes i remember the old days when we used to dream about those high end pcs. But yet another could never afford one. Today modern pcs doesn't run any good games... so we need the older stuff sometime...

the gf3 card is just there for processing of like movies and basic stuff like 2d processing. when running 3d it uses the 3dfx voodoo2 as you can see in the other games (carmageddon) is one of those. and half life 1. As you also see the fps rate is really good.

    your apologies are accepted :)

  • I saw that to, why does he have a geforce 3 ti200 up on screen? Do u think that is what is really running fear instead of the Voodoo2's? I find it VERY hard to believe the Voodoo2's are running fears graphics engine at any resolution. The geforce 3 ti200 on the other hand, i would expect to perform just like it did in fear at 640X480. I think he is trying to pull a fast one people. Look at 0:22 "Plug and Play monitor into Nvidia Geforce 3 Ti200"

  • your understanding to little about computers man. u know voodoo 2 does not have any 2d render gpu right? you need to plug in a card into the voodoos with the loop back cable. to get any graphics.

if people only could understand how the freaking older technology work... when they go ahh fake i go LOL over here. i did not edit the video. i did even post the entire configuration onto the vids. you go do some homework my friend...

  • thats true

  • im ganna be uploading some more videos in the next few days of need for speed underground and stuff like that. Also i plan to do an wherry odd video of biosys :)

  • How the...I used to have a 5600 XT and it didn't run at that speed no matter how hard I tried. How did you do that :S?Any tweaks?

  • yeah ive teaked some in the drivers for the voodoos but essentionaly those cards are faster then you might think. watch my postal vid.

i have alot to thank my 64bit pci slots and dual 1.7ghz xeon cpus also for the high fps :)

  • yes i did donate some older stuff... i get alot of 300 to 1ghz computers. some times of the year i have to many computers. thats when i go donate.

you have both smoothwall and DSL that is good enogh to serve as router software. also monowall and clarkconnect.

  • spot on man :)

  • jajajajajaja a quien va a engañar,Sea Ridiculo y el Far cry 2 que 30Fps por lo menos,Mamon

  • English man... cant understand you...

  • jajajajajaja who is going to cheat, Sea ridiculous and the Far Cry 2, 30fps at least Mamon --- This is what google language tools translated it to. I still don't understand what he was trying to say exactly.---

  • Yes this is fake... VooDoo Video Cards NEVER supported T&L Lighting which is required to run FEAR.

  • then again... i did just prove you wrong... the movie is obviously not edited and i did show you the cards and everything... you are fake!

  • Test Half-Life 2!!

  • will do... but not today..

  • FAAAAAKEEEE!!!!!!

  • i would say not fake... what would it take to prove your sorry ass wrong? :)

  • This is INSANE! Damn VooDoo 2 FTW!

  • yeah voodoo's are suppressing fast... i did not count with the game even running... but it ran real good... :)

if you like the videos subscribe because there will be more videos... just gotta film them. XS and Rebel moon raising is coming up

  • Just a thought: Voodoo 2 is a 1998 card and can still run a 2005 game. Will 2008 cards be able to run games of 2015...? i highly doubt it.

  • might... it just might... if you take like the newest best card that is out on the market today... i have an small doubt but i be leave it can be done...

im ganna upload more videos some day just need to edit them first... :)

  • Dont know. I think that the power of the card isnt so crucial - maybe a 4870X2 or a GT280 SLI will still able to run a 2015 game with 10-15 in lowest settings... What i think will be crucial is the DX support. By 2015 im seeing DirectX 12 or something like that to exist.

  • yes but in 2015 i bet some games will be backwords compatible with dx10. the power of the card is crucial sens u want an desent fps. 30+fps.

voodoo2 was top of the line when they came out. so yeah... no wonder why they still work.

  • Yeah of couse gfx power is crucial, but i dont know if it is that much when we are talking for games almost a decade in the future. But yes you are right, if you take Voodoo2 as a example then there is a good change that the top cards of today may run in somewhat decent fps some games then. Who can know for sure? Only time will tell.

  • you have not heard about turning dumb features off? that's what you do when you don't want them. as long as you can select the voodoo cards or deactivate the other graphics driver card. it runs of the voodoos. it automatically in most cases run with the fastest card. so... deactivate the agp card then it runs with voodoo. agp only needs to handle 2d as to the voodoos that cant do 2d.

i don't run the game at max i run the game with an config that strips the graphics to the bare minimum.

  • Hey, i have subscribed so please do crysis whenever you have time XD lol

Also, would you be able to tell me how to connect up voodoo 2's in sli? i recently bought an SLI pair for £6 and i have an old floppy cable if you could tell me, thanks :D

  • hey... just google "making voodoo2 sli cable" and you will be set...

ill post rewiew later.. doesent seem to be working good today to respond to comments. but yeah... its on its way...
