I have a 1997 buick lesabre that has well over 220,000 miles on it and it still gets 29 mpg, with proper maintenance your car could have still been running good and maybe still getting decent gas mileage. I believe in keeping a vehicle until it quits running or i sell to somebody and look for a slightly newer used vehicle to buy. What you did was just a waste of good car.
Could have saved alot of money by just fixing the exhaust and finding out what was making the idiot lights on the dash come on, the car could have gone another couple hundred thousand miles with the proper maintenance. Could have been alot of SIMPLE fixes.

It also assumes that fuel use is only about the engine. A 1L micra engine in a 5 ton truck, will still get bad mileage, just be slow as shit. Corvettes have old 'gas hogger' engines, but can get 40mpg highway adding a turbo which with US gal is even better, it's 48mpg over here! Stick is more efficient (if you don't drive in stupid gears.) What a waste this program is as making new cars uses energy too!
A lot of old trucks can be lightened and use TDI, and the old engines can go in sport cars!

IF they had sent the cars to a central location you could have put 8-9 cars on one hauler to be destroyed. Instead each dead car had to be single hauled with either a tow truck or flat bed. Yeah, sure. The drivers got paid for each trip, but the added smog and traffic were a waste. ALSO. what dealerships benifited the most? The cheap ass foriegn car ones.

I kept my '88 Dodge Diplomat police cruiser that i use as a back-up car.The original owner was the Adams County S.O. then a local constable,then my late father and now me.So you see,there's no way i'm letting this old Dodge go. As for it's carbon footprint,i couldn't care less. The 4-bbl.318 V-8 gets about 16 m.p.g. on 100 octane low lead avgas,has no smog controls and runs like a bat out of hell.I sincerely hope this pisses off any tree huggin' hippie that reads this.

I'm looking for a P71 Vic and they even destroyed a few of those under this disgusting program. There are tons of working families without good vehicles you know!!
