In order to get around NHRA rules, racers (and car manufacturers) were altering the wheel bases on the cars for more traction (this also resulted in incredible wheel stands). Google "altered wheel base funny car" sometime, and you'll see they looked kinda "funny" as in "not quite right"

Its because race cars have roll cages, five point harnesses, etc. There built to withstand bad crashes, because a bad crash is to be expected in such a sport. Normal cars arent equiped with any of that stuff, so they get crushed, and people are ejected from their cars. A roll cage alone would save thousands of lives if all cars came with them.

it comes down to engineering and costs. racing cars like that have hundreds of thousands of dollars poured into them which results in them being safer. you can also see this in videos of exotic car crashes where the drivers can basically walk away from the scene and survive seemingly fatal accidents.

idk it really depends. most of the high end cars have roll cars because of the fact that they can roll, most manufacturer's arent going to put a roll cage into something like a taurus because of the fact that its more difficult to roll and personally thats some social darwinism going on if you are driving stupidly enough to roll a car like that. BUT im not a manufacturer so i dont know why they dont just put them in all of the cars.
