ok i hate to bother you but i got one last question because my motor is almost the same as yours its a 496 eagle rotating assembly brodix 144 chamber heads solid roller 714./714. cam 1050 dominator , at how many degrees do you have your timing set ? and at many degrees do you suggest i have my timing set ? i just cranked up the motor for the first time last week and i dont know were to setup the timing at ?
It was built by ProSystems. It is a 3 circuit carb that they calibrated for the street. Jets were matched to my motor specs along with airbleeds. Basically we gave them all the motor specs and they built the carb to match it as best as they could. It was spot on in the dyno tests requiring no changes whatsoever. Runs like a 4150 on the street until I open 'er up:)
Yeah, the turndowns cause a lot more bass and deeper tones. I used to have them and mine was super deep sounding. i have a friend of mine who used to be a serious drag racer that drove my car and thought more than 700 hp too, but I just go by the dyno results. It sure does get up and do though!
I thought we were talking about my motor? You seriously gonna compare a Cammer (which most experts say only 50 or so were made, and strictly for racing,) to a single cammed, push rod Chevy motor? The Cammer is a totally different engine (two cams, semi-hemi heads, etc..) And gimme a break with the stock parts. Stock RACING parts for that motor. My neighbor races two 5-6 second MOPARS with over 3000 hp each and they are stock. Stock RACING parts!
Plus my motor STILL makes 31 more horsepower than your Cammer, and doesn't have to wind to 7000+ rpm to do so, with 10-1 comp instead of the Cammers 12-13 to one, AND runs on pump gas! I've just shown you a Chevy that has done better!!. And if Chevy ever decided to make THEIR version of the Cammer, it would have wiped Fords ass all over the track! Just accept it. Now go bother someone else
Right on! Sounds good! I have these on my Blazer. I love em! Im always setting off car alarms haha. They also kinda keep that open header sound which, to me, is the pure sound of performance.
Very nice. If you don't mind me asking what are the spec's on your motor? I plan on going with the same displacement as yours but with a slightly smaller cam. I'll be using a Comp cam solid roller .651 lift/ .255 .050 duration and was thinking AFR's new CNC oval port heads since 90% of my driving will be on the street. Any recommendations? Looking forward to seeing some more of your videos!
Thanks. I chose the Afterburner because it is one of the better flowing mufflers out there according to flow tests and i think they sound much different than flowmasters in person. IMHO, Flowmasters sound decent, but belong on mustangs. They are also some of the worst flowing mufflers out there (according to flow tests). My motor is 10-1 compression and pushing nearly 700 hp, so I wanted a less restrictive muffler. You can look through these mufflers and see daylight out the other side!
love the way your car sounds what made you choose that muffler over flowmasters they have a similar sound? i own a 68 rs/ss with a 454 in it that i plan to stroke to a 496 as well, what kind of compression are you running?
Is the car for sale?

same reason i chose my afterburners. i am no where near 700hp but according to the comparisons they were the obvious choice.
