I've been falling in love with the American Life album all over again recently. It's such an underrated body of work. The critics got it all wrong when this came out. Time has proven them wrong. There's such an organic feel to this whole album and this song is one of the stand outs. .

Something has always bugged me about Madonna. It's not her success or her music...It's how far she has come. She is a legend, next to Michael Jackson's shoulder. I'm so happy and lucky that I was born in this generation to witness such a magnificent woman like Madonna. Hope she lives on, so I can pass her story to my children. American Life is her best album. Especially the ballads. Nothing Fails, Intervention, X-Static Process, and Love Profusion (Ballad?) are my favorite songs by her and the best on this album. I prefer her ballad songs as opposed to her more dance-pop hits.

When she decides not to bother trying to compete with Britney and co, she will release more great stuff like that of American Life, Music and Ray of light, not the rubbish from the disappointing Hard Candy.

@MrHappytimes73 Hard Candy was disappointing. I don't think it was all bad, it just wasn't her. The only ones I really like from that album are Miles Away and Devil Wouldn't Recognize You. I don't think continuing dance music was such a good idea for her. Confessions was OK, but I think she should have gone back to her sound. Like American Life, Ray Of Light, and Music. I don't think her last 2 albums were very heartfelt at all.

I meant her vocal talent. But I really like her voice although she hasn't got a special vocal talent. Her concerts are ok, but glorious years has already passed. More and more playback on her shows. Time of "Music" was the best [look: /watch?v=dggpKeZJSQ8 ] . But Hard Candy and S&S Tour are a failure for example. I appreciate that she takes to writing her songs. Despite all she's a real artist.

AL is unlike any album she has ever released and a nice mixture of guitar and electronica and some truly intimate songs on here. I applaud her in her third decade in the business for trying something so bold as this album, instead of phoning it in or playing it safe.

Pulling the first video, ignoring songs like nothing fails and xstatic process, and not marketing it as an acoustic effort. The album itself is ahead of it's time, and probably one of her best works as an artist. Madonna just hasn't put in the effort with her videos and promotion like she used to.
