  • I love the Philippines it's a great place but this commercial makes no sense to me . come to the Philippines we speak English!!!!

    The end!

  • dont care about the negative comments around here this is an ad and you should understand more! be proud! TO BE PRECISED as manong said. LOL

  • THIS.IS.JUST.COOL. :)

    I miss these tourism campaigns..

  • I love this so much!

  • Kagaguhan!

  • Are they trying to be funny? I taught at a state college for a year, the students could barely understand me. One problem of our educational system is that students are forced to study in a language they don't know that well. And speaking English well has become the equivalent of being smart. Which isn't really the case.

  • philippines major languages is english and tagalog ...

  • Bring a Filipino to America and you'll actually be surprise that their accent quickly changes. Pero pag nasa Pilipinas na, grabe, tama nga yung grammar kaso baluktot yung accent.

    Just my observation :)

  • If i were to judge, Philippines is a lot more better than any countries, but Filipinos did not see it, like the way i see it

  • Wow!

Image is everything.

  • Filipinos are lucky cause we speak English more fluent than any other Asian country.......

  • @Balut01210 Does it bring any difference in terms of economy cleanliness & environment?

  • @Balut01210 Gamitin natin ang Ingles as a tool to converse w/ other English speaking people that does'nt know how to speak Tagalog or other dialects.Huwag tayong paalipin dito.

  • i used to like philippines..i was addicted to the pinoy drama like "mula sa puso" "pang ako sayo" sanay wala nang wakas" n a few more...but because of some of the pinoy tubers, now i hate philippines..sorry to say but pinoy tubers are so arragont n always use inappropriate language to other tubers...

  • Philippines, 5th largest English-speaking countries in the World, better than Canada.

  • "better than Canada"

these statements ARE reasons why people from other nations don't like you. actually filipinos are nice people....but it is the Arrogance such as these that hurt you the most.

  • I have nothing against Canada or Canadian people, "better than Canada" it's not arrogance,, it's actually a compliment for Filipino people, 'TO BE COMPARED TO A LARGE COUNTRY AND GROUP OF ENGLISH-SPEAKING PEOPLE' ... and besides it's a fact, and it's something that Filipino should be proud of. and it's also a factor why Foreigners feel at home when they're in the Philippines, coz almost all Filipinos can speak perfect English..

  • Lol way to make an arguement about my homeland guys :P

It's actually pretty great, and I get it was just a comparation and nothing offensive, just a misconception. Just next time it's best to keep it in numbers, these are sort of things that always piss off both sides

  • Google it.....Tignan mo nga kung saan mas maraming Turista sa China,Japan,Mexico or Philippines( na may populasyon na mas nakakapagsalita ng Ingles more than England's, according to this commercial).

Filipinos could understand English, but speaking it fluently & spontanously is another story.

  • Sandali lang... it's a good thing that we speak very good English, yan ang isang admiration sa atin mga Pilipino ng mga turista. This is something we can be proud of, and about cleaning our lakes and rivers is of a different topic.

Give me a break !

  • I preffer that spanish were official.

  • One can rarely hear " Espanyol " being spoken nowadays. Only a handful of the old folks here have the ability to speak the language. There are some universities and colleges though that still offer them as elective subjects. The teaching of basic Spanish language was taken out from the required subjects in college during the late 80s. Even English proficiency suffered a bit when the government then decided to focus more on the Filipino language with its varied dialects.

  • most filipinos can speak english but aren't fluent...like myself i'm not fluent..but i can speak. maybe about 2% to 7% are fluent in english..the thing is that most of us are afraid or shy to speak english because we might be grammatically incorrect..so they're not willing to practice it cuz others laugh at you if you're grammatically incorrect..i'm not good in english but i do my best so that i get used to it the more you speak it the more you get used to it..so don't be shy and don't criticize

  • I am not sure about those numbers but that is true. I was born in the Philippines, English is just my second language after Filipino (Tagalog), but I learned the conversational way of speaking by watching lots of sitcoms, news, interviews which are in English.

Sad, but true. Many of Filipinos still speak in broken English.

They say "Mahalin natin ang sariling wika...", Filipino language will never be forgotten, because it is our vernacular, it is just sometimes English is essential.

  • your estimates are incorrect. 83% of all filipinos can speak and write proper english.. ^^,

  • well, judging by this message.. i'd say you speak great english XD

  • this video is creative

  • Mabuti pa ang Mexico ay kasama sa top ten destination country in the world according to "world statistics tourist destination of the world".

  • Utoy, easy kalang at huwag mamersonal.Comment on the video not the person commenting, kasi hindi mo kilala yung pinagsasabihan mo.Pagbibigyan kita dahil bata kapa.

And FYI matagal n nmin tanggap ang mga negatibong bagay about sa PI. Kaya yang pangungutya ala nman yan maitutulong! Think locally, act locally!

Malaki kang kahihiyan sa magulang mo, Alma Mater mo, US Army at CSI m! More than the usual!

  • ...but the number of people using English n Uk is not as big as we have n d Phils. I had a Uk-woman friend and she told me aboput this too. I happened to read 4-page feature issue about Philippines here in China/ China Daily newspaper/ Nov. 4, 2004.

  • Redsoil5, it seems to me that you don't really know much about your fatherland, Philippines. It's indeed true NA MAS MARAMI PA SA PINAS ANG MARUNONG MAG-ENGLISH THAN IN ENGLAND OR UK. As a matter of fact, Phils is RANKED 3RD IN 3 COUNTRIES AROUND THE WORLD WHERE ENGLISH IS WIDELY SPOKEN. Ahead of us of course are Australia and U.S.A. Aren't you happy and proud of it? U.K. has the oldest English and that America just borrowed and simplified the language,

  • LOL...There are more English speakers here than in England.....Bwahahahahhahaha !!!

Baka nakakaintindi, pero yung makapagsalita is another story.

Do away with your crab mentality, just support this ad as you love your country.

  • the purpose of this commercial is to promote the country.why stll thers many people who are against this and are feeling bitter? duh..

why some of you cant be just happy and be proud of the country.

look at these tribe men..they look and act so good on this clip. that alone would make u feel good and proud!

  • I feel so great sa mga tagapagsalita ng maraming language, not only English. =)

  • Redsoil5 isa kang baliw at bobo. The ad shows that the Filipino are multi-lingual. Kung exotic hanap nila eh dalhin mo sila sa Pilipinas year before 1521.

  • LOL sorry to burst your bubble, but the number of years one has lived in America has nothing to do with one's intellect.

Nasa Amerika ako for 20 yrs. Maraming mga balikbayan pag umuuwi ang yayabang pero they are stuck in their little own world sa US, a lot of them entirely clueless.

Dude, I don't know you but I'm sure you are NOT tanga, but playing the balikbayan card is so predictable. Just be proud of our country; all countries have skeletons in their closets. Ours is no different.

  • You know what you are not travelling in order to prove that the other country has a better life than the other. Your aim is to find out how other people live, what they can teach you, how they deal with reality and with the extraordinary. Lesson: NEVER COMPARE.

  • lol i love this commercial. i guess not many people know that the tribesmen in our country speak english very well, far better than other local filipino dialects, and that the official language of intellect even among remote places is.. well English.

  • twintey treiey meilyuown tuw bie prisaiys LOL

  • we FILIPINOS DO SPEAK GOOD ENGLISH ONLY IF WE WANT TO!

  • This is a very good campaign!! Was it featured on a foreign TV?

  • yeah we speak english but a really bad accent though. lol

  • dont say WE if you're just talking about yourself dude. Most Filipinos speaks English with very good accent. You know what a neutral accent is? That's what WE have, like the ones being used by reporters in Americas news channels like CNN. And blimey, i can speak English with a British accent. :) bloody hell!

  • really? should we really be proud? while our culture and language is dying significantly, koreans are coming here just to learn english..why don't they go to america or something. that's gotta be an insult..

  • The Philippines is the third largest English-speaking nation. We've got to be proud of it!

  • its really unusual!hehe.love my country so much!

  • It's true actually! Mountain people are good in english... especially Baguio ones I think..

  • chocolate hills is up again 2 notch from 8th to 7th place its now on the 6th place, lets make a difference. pls continue voting for the new 7 wonders of the world. the tubbataha reef is also up from 9th to 8th place.

  • Sila ang nagpapakain sa atin ng bigas. Kung walang bigas, mamamatay tayong lahat.

    heh.

Stop generalizing. I know quite a lot of people who come from the mountains who are respectable citizens of our country. Some of them are even VICTIMS of abuse perpetrated by the NPA and some are being punished for being MERELY SUSPECTED of being part of the NPA. Your hatred towards the people who share the same noble blood that runs through my veins makes my stomach sink.

    Open your eyes.

  • you are a disgrace to even be human. how ignorant can you be so generalize all mountain people. you are pathetic. and look at you, catholic filipino... following the religion of your former master who tortured and abused your people. now you are judging those different than you. HYPOCRIT!

  • doubtful but true. ive seen filipinos speak better english than i do.

  • the best video scene i love

  • cool video

  • Anybody know the name of the tune? Is there a longer version of it?

  • The tune was a "made for the purpose" kinda thing. AFAIK, I guess you could try to contact the agency that produced this ad (BBDO). I've tried this numerous times with numerous commercials and had luck only once. Nevertheless, it's worth trying!

  • So, what was the only one you got luck with? Thanks for the advice, I might try it.

  • even the tribal people can speak english! haha thats true,. ^_^

  • ironically, they can speak better in englsih than in tagalog.

  • i love this video! i love being pheliphino!!

  • are you serious dude?! MOST TRIUMPHANT!

  • the Philippines is the third largest english-speaking country in the whole world....

seventy three (73) million to be precise!!!

  • blah i want to go to the philippines blah im filipino and i havent been to the philippines!?!?

  • the other old man said is (to be precise)

  • what they r trying to say is philippines has 73 million people way more people than england they not all are fluent

but they still speak ang understand english very well

  • Of course. When I returned to the Philippines, they speak Taglish! Everyone can speak English in the Philippines (73,000,000).

  • Hahaha! cool!

  • funny

  • more enlgish speakers than england means that the philippines has MORE ENGLISH SPEAKERS THAN THE UNITED KINGDOM(england!!!...???...urgh)...obvious??? oh he said by the way... Sibintitri Milion (seventy three million)... then i dont know what the other old man said

  • he said : to be precise

  • @Justpinoykid "to be precise"

  • what did that guy say??It was very quick.what do they mean more english speakers than england..i didnt get it.

  • because of the population of the philippines where there are more english speakers in the philippines than in england..about 73 million english speakers...hehe

  • Hahaha. That's very funny although I'm not sure if there are English speakers in the Philippines than in England. I think the Philippines has more people but that doesn't mean all of them are fluent in English, some of them speak different dialects.
