I don't like that word. the EPL might be the most entertaining league in the world, but excluding Man U and possibly a few others, the level of individual skill is considerably lower than not only in La Liga but also Italy, and yes even Russia. the truth is arshavin is a play maker, and ideally plays in the mid-field or wings, to create offensive chances, however since he is so fast and good on the counter-attack, during opposing team's corner kicks, he often replaces spots with the strikers and is put as 1-top, near center of pitch. However because of injuries to the squad, and Tekke playing like complete shit, he sometimes actual striker.

Since he is short, if he does concentrate on personal glory, he gets the best results playing behind the main striker, similar to Wayne Rooney or Robbie Keane, the way Keane uses tall Berbatov is same as how Arshavin uses Pogrebniak, or how Michael Owen used Heskey when they defeated Russia in Wembley. However they did play him as 1-top in a very defensive 4-5-1 formation against Everton a few months ago as he faced Englands best defender Lescott, and it didn't turn out too well...
