I keep coming back to this track, easily one of my fav breakcore/idm tracks of all the time.
The elasticity of the rhythms from 1.34 onwards blows my mind every time. I think its just fairly simple convolution processing techniques (I could be wrong) but damn iv never heard it done as well as its done in this track.
I always imagine a derelict and sophisticated computer room being taken over by malicious tentacles, mutating and integrating themselves in novel, inhuman ways with the hardware.
@hobobobohobobobo It's unique 'n innovating. The problem is many people dislike it due its 'special' and alienated sound. Yet if people would give it a chance 'n try to listen, they'd understand what masterpiece this truly is.
unrhythmic music? i think you are confusing "rhythm" with "groove". if it is not groovy doesn't mean that's not rythmic. if you can't get into the rhythmic complexity of this track, don't shit on it with poor argumentations..
@hobobobohobobobo thats the reverb or impulse responses. They help create perceived dimensions of space so the sound appears to expand/contract away/towards certain focal points over time. There's more to it than that though and it has many uses (for DSP mangling) in this sort of music.
Its something that very few genres of music use to such an extent as Squarepusher does in this track.
If you cant hear the rhythm and groove, then that's a reflection of your inability, not Squarepusher's.
Sounds shit on youtube.
