Thanks for giving a nice idea with clear presentation; I tried everything as described. while bridging, i faced problem: a comment as "To create a network bridge, you must select at least two LAN or High speed connections that are not being used by internet connection sharing" appears. suggest what to do.  Still in the 2nd laptop it detects the device. but while trying to open a site in the 2nd one, "INVALID SERVER NAME" appears. please suggest what to do. Thanks in advance -BABU.

@palingenesis I think you had to enable your devices to stream media servers. Try looking around for something like that cause my ps3 couldn't stream internet till I enabled that part.

To everyone who want's to make connection automatic in Windows 7, Vista (it is unable to make automatic ad hoc connection since Vista and connecting to ad hoc network at each computer each time Windows starts is really annoying) - try Maxidix Wifi Suite. This will help to create and manage any ad hoc connection.

This is not using the PC as a router. It is using it as a bridge. Hence the setting "bridge networks". A bridge works at layer 2 or the MAC (Media Access Control) layer. A router works at layer 3 or the Network Layer (IP Adresses). Just remember that a bridge goes by MAC Address and a router goes by IP address and you'll be fine. I know a lot of very intelligent people in my profession who make the same mistake all the time when they first start out.

@ProjectMaster2000 i think that you are right but this is very ussefull if you are going somewhere (my grans for me) and there is only wired internet there- i cant use my ipod touch in bed but if i do this i can. so it makes its kinda pointless for me to get a wireless router because i am here like twice per year... but i do think that if you are using this at home then you might as well get a wifi router! :)

After briding no more internet connection on host pc. It says there is no network cable plugged in...

Tried to fix it with the diagnose and repair tool, but all it says is make sure your cable is plugged in then try again... (btw, the cable ís plugged in, and when I remove the bridge, internet connection is just fine...)

Also on a client pc I can connect to the ad hoc network, only local access though. No internet connection there either.
