She's lip syncing. You can tell because 1 - The audio (including the voice) is EXACTLY THE SAME as on the CD and 2 - Little subtitles in her mannerisms that show she's trying to keep up with when the vocals come in.

That still doesn't take anything away from the fact that she's super talented and beautiful and I don't think anything less of her, it just means that it's not a "live" performance is all.

@tenaciousd580 If you knew anything about show business, you would know that it is 100% impossible to recreate something EXACTLY like on the album live. Every note that she "sings" is in the exact same timing and with the exact same emotion and the exact same sound as on the album.

I dont claim do be a singer but I know my way round a recording studio and short of having a whole choir and a sound engineer it would be impossible for her to do it completely live. Her sound is clearly created by layering her vocal many times over and over as well as masses of layers of different pads and effects. I imagine she is singing live just over a backing track. :)

@LuceoLeo Enya's music relies a lot on studio technique. The chorus-like sound of the background vocals is her own voice, dubbed and re-dubbed over and over on the same track. This quality can't be reproduced in solo performances, which is why she seldom performs live, and usually has to lip-sync on the occasions she does perform live.

because of the multiple voice layers of the studio recording, i think people would be very disappointed on how it sounded live, just enya singing it at the piano.

@vanhalen8200 Rarely. There are a few live performances out there. I'd recommend you "May it Be" live in Larry King Live CNN, and "White is in the Winter Night" live in Regis and Kelly.

@vanhalen8200 Very, very, very, very, very seldom. Her process of over-dubbing makes it prohibitive. Not to mention the fact that she prefers to keep her life private. Can't say I blame her. The media chews up and spits out just about everyone famous.
