Hyancinth Macaws are such gorgeous birds. One of my close friends happens to have one, Boss, and he is a true character but where we come from you have to have a permit to have one because of their presence on the endangered list. I think it is wonderful that people are breeding in captivity these days and helping to bring their numbers back up. If people would stop destroying the rain forests then maybe, just maybe, we could stop all this needless destruction of our birdy friends. Birds rule!!
@zoonosisprognosis They are gorgeous & such gentle giants... I agree.. It'd be wonderful if their homeland was so threatened & they could thrive there... Birds do rule!!!
the people saying this bird shuld be in , or come from brazil, are kidding themselves. macaws like this guy are almost certainly in peril thanks to the lacklustre efforts of brazilian authorties to protect their wildlife. poor countries do not concern themselves as much with conservation as much as they try to attempt to curb drugs and gang violence.
@tstuetzel You know Bill??? Tara is about 22 or so... She isn't one of his, but Sadam & Indigo (other hyacinths in my videos) are... Also my cockatoo, Jasmine, is one of Bill's... He raises the best birds!!
@tstuetzel Whenever you see him again, please tell him how much we (Roger & Colleen) are totally loving our feathered kids.... I carry his number w/ me so when I meet someone who is seriously interested in a parrot I can pass his number along.
Lets remember this bird comes from the Amazon and the owner of this bird is pretty good but if she was from Brasil (*Rio) you guys would become speechless
@794alm hyacinths are known to have longer beaks then most. its perfectly fine. obviously the bird is in good health, and has alot o attention. but the beak length surprised me too the first time i saw a hyacinth
i want to buy a male and female and keep breeding them and let the babies into the wild when they come of age. i will keep the parents for all of their life thow :) but when they're close to dieing of old age i'll keep their babies then repeat this proccess. i'm sure if i do this it'll save their population
@molinobeer D: i'll have to live almost a hundred years before i make them leave. but i'm pretty sure when they die i'll be sooo shocked i'll have a heart attack and die myself xP
not captive bred specimens, breeders will of course need the appropriate permits and must adhere to government regulations however there is no requirement if the bird is intended to be a companion animal. there may be regulations concerning the travel of these birds across state borders due to their endangered status but you would need to look at your own states laws concerning the matter
Sorry, but these beautiful creatures belong to the outside world, even if born in captivity. Their bodies and psyche are not made to sit around on a cage all day. Equally, you wouldn't want your children to be kept up a tree for the rest of their lives in the rainforest where they don't belong.
@5awesomeparrots these is what everybody says, but i'm gonna believe you because you clearly love and take very good care of these birds!! But you know that most of them are not born in captivity don't you? Otherwise they wouldn't be endangered. : ) Peace!
@finando I understand that taking Hyacinths from the wild has threatened them... But also the destruction of their land threatens them... With the success of breeding them in captivity, there is no reason to remove them from the wild.

If the gene pool gets to small to avoid in-breeding they are just as vulnerable to extinction as disease resistance weakens and risk of genetic deformities increases. We need to stop destroying their natural habitat to preserve these wondrous birds.
@finando Actually, ALL of the baby parrots in the United States today are captive bread, because it is now illegal to import birds from out of the country (even adult birds), no matter what species. Now i'm sure that there are many birds still smuggled into the US, but trust me, they don't make it far enough to be sold in commercial pet stores. And the ones that do make it, are only sold in shady places such as flea markets and peoples' homes.

@DARKSTAR13SPENCER She actually does quite well around smaller birds...My little Jasmine (umbrella cockatoo) tends to let her jealousy take her & she'll try to pick a fight w/ Tara even though Tara's beak is larger than Jasmine's entire head...
She's saying step up, am i a good bird, i'm a really good bird, that's a lot of work, huh?, another one, hi dora, hello, am i, or at least a close variation of these phrases and she's using them in context. Must be a very quick and eager learner. Great personality too.
@somethingwild98 Thanks for correcting me.... I should have been more careful w/ my response... They are not "the most" endangered parrot... The low number of Sphix is horrifying.....
@AuroraCelest Tara gets lots of kisses... On her beak, head, back stomache. If on her beak, she'll stick her tongue out the side of her beak to kiss back. lol
Love these birds too... But I also know I'm not ready for the responsability just yet. The largest bird I have ever owned was a cockateil. She was given to me when I was 9 and she passed on when I was 22! She was always so happy to see me come home and the feeling was so mutual. Always perched on my shoulder whenever possibly. Her death was maximum devistation for me.... Maybe one day I'll get another feathered friend just like Tara!
Love these birds. When I saw her trying to grab the camera with her beak I couldn't help but think of how badly their bites hurt. I thought for sure it would be a tug-o-war video.
@WireMan7620 They have never bitten me.. Sometimes during play they use a bit too much pressure on my finger but a quick "no" & they immediately release.
@ColleenM0317 They sound a lot better trained than Goose was. I'm sure he just wanted to play and didn't know his own strength. He's such a clown in front of the camera, always doing this little dance and waving his feet at me.
I just noticed the cockatoo it the cage. Looks very much like the one that tried to regurgitate feed me last week.....
i really do think my 19 year old Eclectus boy lived with a Macaw at some point...just got him about a year and a half ago. He lived with an 85 year old woman for six years so sometimes it's tough to tell the granny noises from the bird noises but after i heard her it sounded exactly like the little "granny grunts" he does. Ridiculous bird room by the way - SO wish i could have one like that. Maybe someday.
@sodacoaster Too funny about the granny grunts... Both macaws speak w/ the same voice... A local painter did the room. It was amazing to watch the process as it was created.
African Greys are amazingly intelligent. I read the book about Alex & was blown away. Tara isn't as chatty as the cockatoos but she does have her 2 cents to share.
@meepster08 you could also try adopting one. A lot of parrots wind up "orphaned" because a lot of folks who want them don't always realize just what they're getting into so there are plenty out there. It'd probably be cheaper that way and you'd be able to give an unwanted bird a home.
Thanks! It has been a great room for filming the birds... We had a local painter do it since we aren't talented... lol... He added some animals that my friend has owned throughout his life.
he don't look like indoor bird , these are best kept in their habitat , they are rare and endangerd because of human demand on it to keep as a pet . beside his beak could cut a child's finger clean . They are more beautiful on trees and flying free in nature .
I agree w/ you... Wild birds should stay in the wild.. but this is a captive born bird..
I've taken the birds to an after school care & done wisely, no child was harmed & they all cherished the experience. A lot of pets, including dogs & cats, could cut a child's finger clean... The right training makes the difference & knowing your pets limits with children.
what a talker!!! fantastic! thanks for sharing this with me Colleen!!! MOST marvelous. five stars for the big BLUE beautiful talking bird!!! FT made a favorite as well.
that there is one PRODIGOUSLY LARGE beak, (or would it be a "hook-bill" ?) what a beautiful and intelligent bird. 5/5 stars and fave now. THANKS for posting this video! I enjoyed it ever so much. FT PS: his/her voice is funny too! NOT like cockatoo's voice and that's fur sure.
ok so u know macaws beaks should be trimmed before the beak goes into the neck its not good for them just trim it down a little if they bleed take some corn starch and a tissue put it on thewound and itll heal up but take it to a profesional i advice if u cant afford it dont trim to far just a little bit ok? cute video ;D
Wow. This birds beak looks just like all the other hyacinths on you tube. If you look at pictures of hyacinths in the wild their beaks look EXACTLY the same. I feel sorry for any bird that has an owner as immature as yourself. I guess everyone else on this site with hyacinths abuse their birds because they don't have the birds beaks trimmed like yours.
Sorry for my late response to your comment on my video... Thanks for your support... When I first started getting comments, I went to look at pics of wild hyacinths. Tara's is similar .
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Hey would you trim her god damn FUCKING beak? Wtf? That is dangerous for the bird and it's almost to it's fucking THROAT imbecile! She's not in the wild where she can keep it trimmed naturally by chewing on wood and eating nuts. I hate to be nasty but it's the only way to get thru to morons!
The only imbecile is yourself, the beak length is normal do some research or watch the other videos of the hyacinth videos you can see they are all around the same length. Also they CAN keep their beaks trimmed naturally by grinding their beak together and also by chewing on toys. more then likely the owner of this bird also feeds it lots of nuts because of the strict diets hyacinths require. CHECK YOUR FACTS.
No, it isn't. All Hyacints have long pointy beaks, though this pretty Hy's beak looks a tiny bit too long, I think it's probably about to wear off, otherwise they'll have trimmed it already, after7+ months.
You might look into the lenght of his beak. To me ot appears to b not only to long, but also extremly sharp. Imk not trying to rag on you, just a little helpfull critoisizm that may be of help to that gorgeous bird
Nice room for her

-.- sorry my brother posted that. But yes these are rather pretty and I'd like to take in any orphaned creature, let alone a bird like this :)

I have been around a few Hyacinth Macaws but none of them would say a word. Thanks for posting this video. My Afircan Grey would say hell also.

African Greys are amazingly intelligent. I read the book about Alex & was blown away. Tara isn't as chatty as the cockatoos but she does have her 2 cents to share.

man im 10 and im going to save u my entire life for 1 of these beutyes i know there 7000 to 10000 U.S dollars but i want one so bad!
meepster08 1 year ago
@meepster08 you could also try adopting one. A lot of parrots wind up "orphaned" because a lot of folks who want them don't always realize just what they're getting into so there are plenty out there. It'd probably be cheaper that way and you'd be able to give an unwanted bird a home.

OMG, LOVE the birdroom! I am so going to paint one of my rooms like this for my birds as soon as i can!
montanabirdmommy 2 years ago
Thanks! It has been a great room for filming the birds... We had a local painter do it since we aren't talented... lol... He added some animals that my friend has owned throughout his life.

kingmanz shut tha fuck up u liberal treehugger!!
m63mouse 2 years ago
he don't look like indoor bird , these are best kept in their habitat , they are rare and endangerd because of human demand on it to keep as a pet . beside his beak could cut a child's finger clean . They are more beautiful on trees and flying free in nature .
kingmanz 2 years ago
I agree w/ you... Wild birds should stay in the wild.. but this is a captive born bird..
I've taken the birds to an after school care & done wisely, no child was harmed & they all cherished the experience. A lot of pets, including dogs & cats, could cut a child's finger clean... The right training makes the difference & knowing your pets limits with children.

ColleenM0317 2 years ago
that there is one PRODIGOUSLY LARGE beak, (or would it be a "hook-bill" ?) what a beautiful and intelligent bird. 5/5 stars and fave now. THANKS for posting this video! I enjoyed it ever so much. FT PS: his/her voice is funny too! NOT like cockatoo's voice and that's fur sure.
FellowTraveller 2 years ago
It is funny how different the voices sound between different types of parrots...
ColleenM0317 2 years ago 2
ok so u know macaws beaks should be trimmed before the beak goes into the neck its not good for them just trim it down a little if they bleed take some corn starch and a tissue put it on thewound and itll heal up but take it to a profesional i advice if u cant afford it dont trim to far just a little bit ok? cute video ;D
madchick1993 2 years ago
LOL the beak is normal, If you look up trimming parrot beaks it says NOT TO unless it has a medical condition
Panteraforever67 2 years ago
oh ok but my macaws was soo long we had to trim it so yeah O.o
madchick1993 2 years ago
try getting it stuff to chew on
Panteraforever67 2 years ago
Panteraforever67 2 years ago 2
Sorry for my late response to your comment on my video... Thanks for your support... When I first started getting comments, I went to look at pics of wild hyacinths. Tara's is similar .

just such a GOOD BIG BLUE BIRD!!!!! FT

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Hey would you trim her god damn FUCKING beak? Wtf? That is dangerous for the bird and it's almost to it's fucking THROAT imbecile! She's not in the wild where she can keep it trimmed naturally by chewing on wood and eating nuts. I hate to be nasty but it's the only way to get thru to morons!
PinkyWontWork 2 years ago
The only imbecile is yourself, the beak length is normal do some research or watch the other videos of the hyacinth videos you can see they are all around the same length. Also they CAN keep their beaks trimmed naturally by grinding their beak together and also by chewing on toys. more then likely the owner of this bird also feeds it lots of nuts because of the strict diets hyacinths require. CHECK YOUR FACTS.
Panteraforever67 2 years ago 8
Someone should trim your beak.
Better yet, file your fingers down so you can't type anymore.
Adventurestud 2 years ago
Thanks for the concern... The beak is fine & I can type just fine w/ my nails.
ColleenM0317 2 years ago
No, it isn't. All Hyacints have long pointy beaks, though this pretty Hy's beak looks a tiny bit too long, I think it's probably about to wear off, otherwise they'll have trimmed it already, after7+ months.
greengrendel 2 years ago
um you stupid mary it supose to be like that!!!
hahalol96786 2 years ago
how do u buy one??
josenl54 2 years ago
You might look into the lenght of his beak. To me ot appears to b not only to long, but also extremly sharp. Imk not trying to rag on you, just a little helpfull critoisizm that may be of help to that gorgeous bird
Mikeumps 2 years ago
@Mikeumps hyacinths just tend to have longer beaks than other macaws. Haven't seen them any shorter whether domestic or wild.
