i have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old GM Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree

No it don't sound pretty good it sounds badass wow i love how it sounds so sweet so powerfull.never knew a slant6 you think of them as little kitten man your got a tiger under that hood.Does it have a special cam and 4barell carb?
i got a slant 6 with headers like urs with a 4 barrle and i got a ? do u have a 4 barrel on there if so how did u put ur return spring i cant figure out where to put it
The slant 6 is the smoothest engine there is.I had one in my 65 barracuda and id leave it run while going into a store. When i came out id forget it was still running and try to start it cause you couldnt tell it was running and....screech.
i had a hesitation on my slant six. It was just a super six.. there's this valve called an OSAC valve. Went in series with the hose to the distributor. Got rid of the hesitation completely.
hi man. I own a 1980 mexican Dodge Dart, with a Super six engine, I would like to put on it AC, can you help me sending me photos of the supports, and where they hold the compressor? also can you tell me the part number for the compressor? I have all parts to do the convertion exept this ones. Believe me Its very hard to find in this country slant six with AC. Hope you can watch my video next week, Ill upload mi car video.
On the slanty I built, Edlebrock aluminum intake, Holley 390cfm 4bbl, Hooker headers, manual shift kit in the tranny and some extensive work on the head... 0.010 cut from the head, pocket porting, 3 angle valve cut, and shimmed the valves. We didn't have K&N filters back then, so I used an air cleaner meant for a 427 ford... car ran fine after a few hours/day tuning the carb on a nearby hill.
After changing jets and powervalves, and adding a 1" spacer under the carb, she ran great...
Man that is gorgeous! I had 2 73 dodge dart swingers, 1. slant six three speed and one 318 auto. Both I miss both very much, neither the heaters worked worth a damn, A/c was a luxury but I do remember beating camaros in the slant six... the engine was bullet proof, you could throw a cinder block on the accelerator and not hurt that bastard. and it jumped a lot of big blocks. With a good gear ratio of course. I miss that car alot :(
the off idle hesitation is just part of having any str8 six, it helps to port the heads, and that aircleaner is bunk, even though it looks great, by some rubber elbows and slap a huge k,N or aem on there, the six naturally have long intake runner which is a performance boost at mid range, but you need to get it free breathing for your low end vaccum sucks. I fixed mine by portin the heads, and making a medium short length intake tube off the manifold.good for highway, shorter will help that hesitat
that thing sounds nasty i also have a slant 6 in my duster could you give me any upgrades you put into this or any websites i should look into? Much appreciated,
i doubted slants when i first got my dart but everyone said they are some of the best engines made now i like them that slant sounds cool what are the upgrades besides headers?
No i think its sounds Beautifull.I love them slants.I say they are best 6 cyclinder made. Will burn rubber i bet it will.I had a 6 in my dodge truck with 3 speed on the colom str8 drive it had as much power as the 8 did.I never wanted for power.I pulled some big heavy loads of trash and scrap metal with it too.I love to hear them idle it music to my ears.Keep on slanting man dodge all the way.
Nice looking engine but I'd get rid of the air conditioner and keep that engine compartment looking simple and clean. Use the 4-60 air instead.

It sounds like a V8 at idle and sounds like a V6 when revving.

What i like is the alla engine do "slant" on pushing the gas pedal
and you're right when it's on idle - you can barely hear it !
