  • Using this method you can exactly control the taste of the beer, because different enzymes do different things at different temperatures! So YOU can control, what enzyme does which work how long. So you can control the beer foam (protein enzyme) and the taste and so on. The minutes i wrote is for a standard beer. I look for a video for you to post here.

  • Well, in Germany the mashing process is different. We heat the water up to 45 Celsius (you have to calculate the Fahrenheit), ad the malt, wait 20 minutes, heat up to 61 Celsius, wait 30 minutes, heat up to 71 Celsius, wait 30 minutes, heat up to 75 Celsius, filter the mash out like you did.

  • awesome video

  • Too cool. Thanks.

  • awesome guys!!!!

  • very nice

  • the chiller isnt complex...lol is uses thermal conduction to cool the beer

  • spent like 30 minutes watchin this and didn't even get to see the finished product??? wtf???

  • we call them 'fruits' in detroit..keep making beer.

  • why does no1 really go over the secondary fermentation. how do i do it and how do i make sure i get a good head(foam) from my beer?

  • For secondary fermentation, you just transfer the beer into a second carboy after a week. Normally let it sit in secondary for 3 more weeks before bottling, but times can vary. You need to make sure that you do not oxygenate when transfering.

  • and is that it? just transferring it into a secondary container makes makes it bubbly?

  • the secondary container he places the beer in contains the yeast which feed off of the sugar and produce alcohol and yes, make it bubbly. after a couple weeks the yeast will die of alcohol poisoning and the fermentation will be complete. hope this helps

  • great video man! What did you do with the other two yeast cultures??

  • Hey,

i am a homebrewer from Germany!

You are a ever Smiling man. In Germany we call guys like you "Strahlemann".

Our brewingmethod is Different, but yours is like in england, isn`t it? However, nice Video, very interesting, was a plaeasure to view.....sorry my english.

  • @Imperio112 I'm intrigued... how do you brew in germany?

  • That music is really terrible

  • when did he put the yeast in the damn beer... damn...

  • 4:30

  • seriously? he spent a whole minute on it in the video. it's at probably the 5:00 mark right before the credits

  • Wort is oxygenated when it splashes around the fermenter during the transfer. I just leave the tube dangling barely in the fermenter. That's always been enough.

There is a whole other step, conditioning, that is not included in these videos. That is the process of carbonation. I usually just wait until fermentation is done, i.e. no more activity, then I transfer to a keg and force carbonate with a CO2 tank

  • How come you don't oxygenate your wort?

  • how do you know when its ready to drink?

    I WANT A BEER!

  • Good job, thanks. Do you not bottle it?

  • looks like you could use a womans touch

  • You're not married are you?

  • I want to see Brian keg and show his finished product!!! Bring Brian Back and finish the series.

  • A good series, well done. The greatest hobby in the world, just don't fuck up and turn it into a career. If need be, I am at your service, don't hesitate.

    Cheers

  • Respect! Learn some better techniques.

  • Haha that's going to have to be the uncreated parts 5-8 of the video... I force carbonate usually. I own about 8 cornelius kegs and a couple little CO2 tanks. As you can see I make about 10 gallon batch volumes, which amounts to two 5-gallon cornelius kegs produced in each batch. Sometimes I'll do bottling, but its a lot more work and introduces a greater chance of contamination.

  • Well done! You do us homebrewers proud!

  • Brilliant stuff guys. You have completely inspired me to make my own brew (and to take up hoola-hooping). Any suggestions as to how I might get started with equipment?

  • hoola-hoops can be bought at a toys r us...they have many varaities including: the hollowed out ones with beads to make sounds, the regular ones...and thats about it

  • Where would you get all of those supplies? I don't think people who want to buy the DVD would be as inspired to buy the DVD if they knew you had to buy all this extra shit.

  • Uh what? You don't really need that much stuff, you can brew beer with a more bare bones set-up as well. You can get a basic kit for under $100.

  • These basic kits (like Mr. Beer) are a waste of money. If you really want something that will last and yield a beer that doesn't taste like prison hooch... Buy your eqipment seperately as opposed to cheap kits like Mr. Beer

  • i never knew making beer helped ur garden!

and a master like taht is most likely will never get intoxicated. lol

  • I just want to say "congratulations by your huge video and your beer that is seen very succulent!"

    cheers from mexico.

  • Well Done! As a mead brewer, I must commend you on your prayer/dance to the divine. The divine listens and rewards those who brew their own.

  • Damn fine video, after doing around 50 or more extract brews i'm ready to go all grain...just need to find a 10 gal stainless brew pot..

  • Decent video, but I must nitpick something. The narrator continually mispronounces the word "wort" as "wart". Wort should be pronounced "wert"; just like world, work, worm, worst, and worship are pronounced with an "er" sound.

  • guys please help a NAVY VET out... I wanna know how to brew bad and want to know how to record the whole brew process to my hard drive... i am not trying to steal... if this process is on dvd i will buy it.. help an ol NAVY drunk out will ya?... help me fellow drunks... I love you guys... INFO: I'm drunk right now on JIM BEAM

  • You can buy the full DVD from Google Base. Just search for chocolate stout!

  • Hey Navy drunk!,. 3 simple rules to makin' booze 1-Ferment the fruit-whatever you got, grapes, apples, watermellon, and the like..2-add shugar-# Yeast!! The Yeast are alive and eat the sugar their waist product is pure alcohol! The trick sought after is the right combination of sugar and yeast, heat & time! Think like a jail house incarserate, with your fruite coctail out ther for bid!!

  • There are a myriad of code to grab youtube videos, but I would highly suggest reading a few brew books, to get the details. If you are not worried in details, then get a kit....boil it...beer. If you are wanting to truly make your own beer: read on it, visit beer forums for questions, and most of all...visit and talk with someone who brews beer around you. More than likely they are very stoked about brewing beer, and would love to have an extra pair of (sanitized) hands along for the ride.

  • @sayfuckalot Hey man! It isn't as hard as this guy does his. (He does it more of a 'power user' way- which is cool) Find a homebrew store in your area- they are probably the best bet you'll have to learning how to do it as well as obtaining equipment and finding ppl to help you as well.

  • and then you died from intocsication...

  • Wow very inspiring and informative must make stout...mmmmmm stout(drooling on shirt)
